Let me start with the good, because there is some: the staff at this hotel, front desk and valet, are some Let me start with the good part, which is that the front desk and valet staff are some of the most genuinely friendly, nice, responsive individuals I have ever encountered in hotels in over 30 years of business travel. The location can't be beat: across from the Peabody, walking distance to Beale Street and the National Civil Rights Center, a mile from Sun Studios. But... There are Covid restrictions, I get that. But they ONLY clean and replenish your room upon request, which made me question what exactly I was paying for. And when they cleaned they basically straightened the room and took the trash: no new sheets, didn't replenish toilet paper, and left a big extra bag of trash we had from being there with no maid service for 3 days. And yes, they were very nice about coming back to get all that, but c'mon: you already aren't cleaning as many rooms in a day as you used to and now you do a half-assed job? If I had read more carefully, I would have realized there were no microwaves or fridges. So, it is Covid Times, you have to eat in your room or bring leftovers back, and there is NO WAY to reheat them or to refrigerate them. They supply an ice bucket which holds enough ice for a tall iced tea. We ended up using plastic souvenir bags to go to the ice machine to get enough ice to fill the cooler that we had been prescient enough to bring. The bed: seriously uncomfortable. The blinds: couldn't be raised or closed because the cords were all broken on all 4 windows. The rug has separated from the wall, the ceiling tiles are eroding. Not at all worth the $ they charge which must be all about location because there is no other excuse. Read less

They also provided some really good information about the city from their practical experience. Eateries, things to do, places to avoid...what was open which was really helpful. No room service which was expected but everything we asked the front desk for we receive...coffee! We did visit the King & Union Bar Grocery for a drink and a light dinner. The soups were terrific as were the salads. The service was really, really good. Oh ya, their cheese cake with strawberry compo is so good. Read less

Hotel seems old and not up to date on all the other hotels. Smelled stuffy and not very pleasant. Staff was friendly but they can only do What they can do with what tools they are provided. Will not be staying here again.

All staff masked, all guests and visitors must wear the masks in public areas, proper social distancing. The hotel does need refurbishing and I am sure will get done when tourism returns. Nice people who I could tell smiled through their masks.

Excellent customer service and still serving warm cookies every day. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. AC worked well. Bed linens and towels were plush. Excellent customer service and still serving warm cookies every day. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. AC worked well. Bed linens and towels were plush. The black-our curtains helped us have the best sleeping each night. These positives far out weighed the obvious need for updates. The decor has aged - just know this going in. Additionally, you have to valet park but do know there is parking near by that was a third of the price to valet. The place still has the Double Tree charm and we would definitely stay there again.
