My wife and I just returned from a stay at the Inn. I called for a reservation at least 4 weeks before my arrival date, asking for a room with a view of the river. I was told this would be no problem and checked again 2 weeks before my arrival and was told my room would have a view of the river. Upon arrival I found my second floor room overlooking a parking area, next to an ice machine, next to a service room, and above the ground floor garbage bin (which I discovered on Monday at 5 AM when the garbage crew banged and clanged below). No view of any river. Perhaps my view was supposed to be the garbage men at work. I checked with the front desk and was told although my card did state "room with a view", an error was made and as the Inn was full, nothing could be done about it. I understand anyone can make a mistake, but when you check twice on your reservation and call way in advance there is no excuse. Because of my experience I will not recommend this Inn to anyone! Welcoming and comfortable hotel on Mud Island. Make sure you get a table by the window at The Terrace and watch the sunset. Great service - loved the complimentary port and truffles at turn-down service. Loved The River Inn.
