My wife & I recently went to Memphis for the Memphis In May BBQ competition. We have stayed at the River Inn of Harbor Town before. This was our third stay with them. The building that houses the hotel is absolutely beautiful. The amenities are fantastic. My wife & I stayed in a room that was on the front of the building, it had a queen size bed & a large bathroom. The room was very quiet. The staff at the River Inn is very friendly, courteous & knowledgable. Breakfast is provided as part of the room rate & the food is absolutely wonderful as are the waiters too. The River Inn of Harbor Town has always been a big reason our trips to Memphis are so enjoyable. Read less

We won a gift card for $431 and thanks pretty much exactly what the room cost. For Memphis TN, $431 is pretty price. And the complimentary breakfast at the next morning was terrible. But the front desk staff were great.

The whole area is very calm and you can walk along the banks of the river in a peaceful environment while the excitement of downtown Memphis is only a short drive away. The room was very nice with good facilities and a reasonable size. My wife and I were there for 3 nights and tried all 3 eating options for dinner. “Tugs” in an adjacent building was nice and relaxed with very good, friendly, casual service. Food was fine, but not exceptional, and I’d happily eat there again. The same could be said for the Terrace Bar which was even more casual than Tugs, with mainly tapas style food, but the same good and friendly service. The more formal restaurant would not attract me back. The staff there were more reserved and the food didn’t live up to expectations. It wasn’t bad, just not as good as the staff seemed to think it was. Breakfast was disappointing. Options were very restrictive and to choose “fruit” seriously limited what else you could choose. For a hotel of this standing the breakfast is an aspect that needs significant review. Breakfast apart, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would recommend the hotel to others. Read less
