My wife and I are celebrating our 40th Wedding Anniversary this year. We had a few tickets to activities in "Music Valley" the Opryland area. The Inn at Opryland is a great hotel that has access to the Gaylord Oryland Resort without the cost and crowds. You know a hotel is a good value when airline personal stay there and this is true for the Inn at Opryland. The hotel is a Marriott property so if you are Bonvoy members you get points for staying there. The staff was super accommodating. We arrived two hours before check-time and they had our room ready for us. The room is nice, with a nice shower and sink area. Good beds, everything was clean. The decor is need of a bit of an upgrade and the shuttle service to downtown or the airport is not a frequent as it should and there is a cost, however the desk let us know that there is rate fixed by the Nashville government for taxis to the and from the airport and to and from downtown ($25.00 when we visited) and that was very convenient. Something my wife loved was the indoor pool and hot tub. I like the on site Starbucks for coffee and a breakfast pastry. A little aside-- there was a terrible storm in Newark, the destination we were flying back to. The hotel was very easy to book for an emergency overnight stay. We also enjoyed the restaurant which I will share about in another review. If your Nashville trip involves mostly Grand Old Opry area activities and you can't splurge on the Oryland Resort-- I highly recommend The Inn at Opryland. Read less

It is the most rambling, confusing place I have ever been. They give you a very confusing map and there are not enough signs labeling where you are or directing you where to go. There aren’t even employees helping you find your way. It is so big the walk to your room may be far. If you are claustrophobic you really don’t want to go. It is all… Read more
It is the most rambling, confusing place I have ever been. They give you a very confusing map and there are not enough signs labeling where you are or directing you where to go. There aren’t even employees helping you find your way. It is so big the walk to your room may be far. If you are claustrophobic you really don’t want to go. It is all primarily inside with very few exits to go outside. I had a hard time finding somewhere to get out for fresh air and to get warm…it is so cold everywhere you go! There really isn’t much for couples to do. The restaurants are not romantic or good. The hours for the restaurants and bars are not convenient at all. At 3:00 on a hot afternoon the pool bar wasn’t open (the other outdoor pool wasn’t even open) There isn’t much for children to do either. If they have been to Disney this would be a big disappointment. We asked several different employees information and directions and got a lot of conflicting information. Two employees couldn’t even tell us how to get to the fitness center and pool. Apparently because of Covid they let go most of the employees from concierge. That is a huge void because the receptionists who took over for them really aren’t qualified to do so. If you are planning on spending time in Nashville then you should stay in Nashville. This property is 30 minutes away ie $80 round tip Uber (on a weeknight!) My husband has been to several conferences there and they went so apparently that is their strong suit! You could probably easily find your way from your room to your meeting and back and your meals may even be there. It has about 3 conference/convention centers that are very large and they apparently specialize in those. I would hope some of these pitfalls are due to a shortage of employees due to Covid. So…if you are going for business you might be pleased but I would not recommend going for vacation! Read less

The room was clean, and I especially liked the SleepWell option on our tv - a special white noise generator that allowed me to not hear noise from the atrium. The bathrooms are tiny. The room was clean, and I especially liked the SleepWell option on our tv - a special white noise generator that allowed me to not hear noise from the atrium. The bathrooms are tiny. I'm talking something like the size of an RV bathroom. The tubs require that you step up about 6" higher than the floor level, which was hard for someone as short as me. And turning around in the shower requires extra care, since it's so tight. The refrigerator had no setting option, and froze our food overnight. When our room keys stopped working and I took them to be reprogrammed, the woman at the desk (an older white woman, somewhat tall, but I'm sorry I didn't get her name) was wearing her mask under her chin. I asked if she could fix my key cards, and out of the blue she pointed at me and announced that she would never wear her mask "that way." Since I hadn't said a word about her mask, I'm not sure why she felt she needed to make such a statement. Fortunately, all the other staff were wearing their masks correctly and were perfectly professional and polite, and that made me feel much more comfortable about travelling with things as complicated as they are right now. Stayed on August 1st, and apparently there was a big storm the night before. We checked in early and put our things in the room which opened to the outside overlooking Caney Fork and Cracker Barrel. I wasn’t impressed but was thankful to get to check in early. My husband pointed out there was no door sweep and you could see a large gap between the door and the ground where sunlight was coming in. We went to Sound Waves and returned later to the room exhausted, where my daughter said her feet were wet standing next the the bed. My husband then confirmed the carpet was wet for at least six feet in front of the door all the way to the first bed. Everyone was so tired, we just wanted to sleep and get out of there the next morning. I advised the front desk of the carpet and she seemed surprised. As we were leaving the parking lot, there were water damage company trucks and men carrying large commercial vacuums into the hotel. I certainly hope they invest in some door sweeps. And placement of guests where the storm inundated the carpets with water was rediculous for the price. I wouldn’t recommend even without the incident described. The hotel/motel reminded me of a really old Holiday Inn. Read less
