Courtyard by Marriott King Kamehameha's Kona Beach

Big Island, Hawaii

Virgin rating

The hotel

Located on the grounds where Hawaii’s most famous king once ruled, this is a stunning hotel, contemporary in feel with top notch amenities. Overlooking one of the best snorkelling bays in Hawaii, it’s a must for water sports fans as well as those who simply enjoy a beautiful beach to lie on. Shops, restaurants and bars are all within walking distance but there’s plenty to keep you entertained on-site. During high season, the Island Breeze Lu’au is one of the Big Island’s most popular events. As well as a sumptuous Hawaiian buffet to feast on, with dishes cooked in a traditional underground oven, dramatic Hawaiian and Polynesian entertainment ensures an unforgettable evening for all. Before the feasting and dancing even begins, outrigger canoes carrying the royal court glide past the ancient Hawaiian temple on the seaward border of the hotel, an incredible spectacle you’ll want to capture on camera! Honu’s Restaurant is also a treat, overlooking the beachfront and complete with firepits so you can linger long after the sun has set. For more casual fare, Billfish Bar serves dishes such as calamari ‘fritte’ and seafood cobb salad as well as signature cocktails. To work off all that delicious food, there’s a recently opened tennis centre with two championship hard courts as well as hiking and biking through glorious state parks.

Had a fantastic stay at the Courtyard by Marriott King Kamehameha Kona Beach Resort! 🌺 From the warm welcome to the early check-in, we felt well taken care of. Had a fantastic stay at the Courtyard by Marriott King Kamehameha Kona Beach Resort! 🌺 From the warm welcome to the early check-in, we felt well taken care of. Our double bed oceanfront room in Room 353 was in great shape, and although it's an older property, we thoroughly enjoyed our short stay. The Bellman was super helpful, and we found all our souvenirs and snacks at the ABC Store. Don't miss the delicious burgers at Billfish Restaurant and treat yourself to a magical massage by Dale at the spa. And of course, you can't leave without trying Hawaiian shaved ice with the snow cap topping – it's so good! 🍧 Overall, a memorable experience in a beautiful Hawaiian setting. Highly recommend! 🌴🌊🌟 #CourtyardMarriottKona #HawaiiVacation #MemorableStay Read less

The hotel has a great location, but our room was just plain dirty. The room was not adequately vacuumed - there were sequins on the floor. The bathroom was disgusting. The body wash canister in the bath had fallen of the wall and was on the floor. The glass shower door and shower floor were not clean. In addition, there was hair in the sink and… Read more

The body wash canister in the bath had fallen of the wall and was on the floor. The glass shower door and shower floor were not clean. In addition, there was hair in the sink and on the counter. And, there was mold around the rim on the sink. Also, the TV remote did not work. The room should not have been assigned to any tourist in the condition it was in! Read less

Four night stay with my husband and we wished we had spent less time in Waikiki and more time here. Our room faced the city area but the other side looked out over the sea, we couldn't afford it. As Australian guests we found the low exchange rate for our dollar plus so many added taxes prohibitive. The pool was lovely, nice and cool, very pleasant grounds. We had to request daily servicing after it did not eventuate. There is a short walk to a lovely seaside touristy shop/ restaurant area. Sunsets from her can be quite spectacular. The room had good storage facilities, a sound bar(sort of unusable in close quarters), an extra ($25 p d) for amenities (not sure we used any). The air con was in a really awkward spot and required an operator to climb on the bed to adjust. No coffee/tea facilities but steam hand press provided. Our advice, come here first on your Hawaiian holiday, do a helicopter flight to get the lay of the land, the drive yourself around. Read less

Horrible service, had a situation outside of my control that would prevent me from staying here. Hotel wouldn’t allow me to cancel even though it was five months out. They had zero compassion, disappointed.
