I traveled there for much needed rest and relaxation, but left more exhausted and frustrated than when I got there! I spent an enormous amount of money for an absolutely horrible experience. And other than a couple of exceptions, no one cared. They made no attempt to make things right or keep me as a future guest, even though I travel to Hawaii… Read more

I enjoyed the grand Hyatt. I am torn between giving it 4 and 5 stars. Pros: My partial ocean view room was nice and big The main lobby was beautiful and grounds were beautiful. The staff were wonderful The complex is quite large which is both a positive and negative. The food was quite good although pricey. Self parking was included in the resort fee. Cons: Rooms were a little dated. Resort was teeming with young children. If you are looking for a family vacation with lots of kids, this may be a great option. Less so if you are looking for a romantic, peaceful getaway. Also, although I was thinking this would be a beach resort as it is on the ocean, there is very little beach as it is mostly comprised of large rocks. In addition, the waves and rip tide were intense. I’m a big guy (6’2, 240 lbs) and these waves almost knocked me over and tossed my girlfriend around like a doll. Plus the rip tide was so strong I was concerned we might drown. Even the locals were staying out of the water. The weather was beautiful though. Expensive. I was fortunate to use Hyatt points for one night but it was about $450-$500 a night after resort fees and taxes. Complex was massive. About 5 minute walk from my room to the parking lot. Read less

The bad - There were three couples with three rooms, each room ran over $400/night so I didn't expect roaches in my room. This was our fifth or sixth stay at GHK, never have I had roaches before! The bad - There were three couples with three rooms, each room ran over $400/night so I didn't expect roaches in my room. This was our fifth or sixth stay at GHK, never have I had roaches before! Also, exposed wires on broken lights at the lazy river weren't fixed during our entire stay. No staff member policed the adult pool and kids were in there constantly. Kids were also jumping off the rocks into the pools which is very dangerous. Again, no staff member spoke up. There was garbage left on concrete by the pools for days (used cups, cardboard, one shoe) - I don't recall seeing this resort in this shape ever in past stays. The lagoon pool needs more sand shipped in - I don't know where it went but it's not there like it used to be. The good- the staff is still so friendly and I saw familiar faces, that's wonderful. The other couples we went with loved GHK - for first timers like they were, it sure is impressive! Bottom line, management needs to pay more attention to the grounds and the guests. For what we spend when we come to this resort, I expect much more. Read less

From check-in to housekeeping our stay was exceptional. The grounds were beautiful and the spa was wonderful. The staff was very knowledgeable and always willing to help. Very relaxing and still many activities to do.
