The Grand Hyatt at Kauai is an enormous hotel, but it never seemed crowded. While the building is impressive, it's personality isn't fancy or opulent. Everyone there was very friendly and helpful. It's a comfortable vibe. The single thing that really sets it apart is the enormous "lagoon" pool. I've never seen a pool this large. It's irregularly shaped, styled like a natural pond, and just goes on forever. It's also salt water if that matters. If you like swimming or just hanging out in the water it's a wonderful pool. Of course the setting is just beautiful on the south shore of Kauai, where there's typically good weather (certainly by Kauai standards). Unfortunately the beach there isn't good for swimming, but Poipu beach is close by. The hotel is huge -- be prepared to do a lot of walking from your room to dining or pools or whatever (or maybe you'll get luckier and get a room closer in). Also some of those hallways are faded. The spa is small but pleasant. There's a large excellent gym there (free for guests) plus a lap pool (not free). A negative is that they've decided that the default tip for a massage is $37. At $185 for 50 minutes the massages are already expensive, and I thought demanding $37 for a tip was obnoxious (yes you can reduce it, but...) All in all, it was a very nice time and we look forward to going back. Read less

From all of the great reviews, our family can't wait to visit. Also, want to try all of the restaurants. Hoping to get a good room with not too much walking involved. What recommendations for rooms close to the parking lot and the pools?

We really enjoyed staying at the Grand Hyatt Kauai. It’s definitely a great family resort. Our daughter absolutely loved the kids club. Even though I consider it a bit expensive for the activities involved. But, still worth it to our daughter who loved going every day. Everything is pretty spread out. So if you don’t mind walking some to get around then I think you will be fine. We stayed on the far left side when facing the ocean. So we were close to the kids club and ship wrecks beach. But, it was a bit of a walk to the front desk, fitness center, club room. The food and beverage on property was definitely above average. The shops at the property are fantastic. We loved the nightly entertainment as well. This hotel is fairly close to plenty of restaurants and shopping. Overall it was a terrific stay and we would definitely stay here again if visiting Kauai. A happy Hyatt Globalist here. Read less

When I got into my room it was clean and facing the ocean! If you are staying in a club room you get to use the lounge where you get free breakfast, snacks, and drinks! I also like how they have water stations all around the resort to fill up your water bottles! Free WiFi all around the resorts and rooms if you need to use it! I loved the lazy river, slide, huge pools all around, and the beach! Thank you to Kayla Peahu who surprised me with gifts sent to my room. This resort is amazing words can’t explain you just have to check it out for yourself! Read less

I have traveled all over the world and this is by far the most beautiful resort I have been to. The employees are great, very friendly and professional. But the grounds are what make this the best. There are 3 or 4 places to eat ($$$) but what makes up for that are the pools. A lazy river and an adult pool. A salt water lagoon and a really fun… Read more
