The Grand Hyatt Resort & Spa is Stupendous in every aspect. The hotel and grounds are beautiful and immaculate. The views are beautiful. I stayed there before, and found it just as impressive the second time. I highly recommend this luxury resort.

I just wrapped up my 4th lifetime stay at the Grand Hyatt Kauai. My other 3 stays were in 1999, 2013, and 2014. I was somewhat disappointed with this stay for 2 reasons. Perhaps my reasons are petty, but I came in with high expectations in part because it was a celebration of our 25th wedding anniversary. First, we were not given any special perks other than a bottle of champagne at checkin. My wife and I have been comped a room category upgrade and day passes to the Anara Spa on a previous stay. Towards the end of our stay I asked a front desk employee if it would be possible to comp us a couple of day passes to use the lap pool and spa facility. After she went into a back room to speak with the manager on duty, she came back and informed me that my request was denied. I would need to pay $50 per person (normally $100 per person but it would be half off because I am a World of Hyatt member). Second, less than a month after I booked the reservation the hotel sent notice that the waterslide was going to be shut down during our entire stay. The day after checkin I headed straight for the lazy river but soon found out they also closed off the bottom 1/4 of the lazy river. The waterslide and lazy river are two of the best pool activities and the shutdowns were huge letdowns. Management failed to provide any notification that the maintenance would be completed earlier than originally announced. A letter at checkin, a letter in our room, or a sign at the pool area would have been appropriate. Because I got no notification I didn't go back and revisit the lazy river or waterslide areas until my last full day of stay and then I was completely shocked to see that the waterslide was open and the bottom of the lazy river was no longer blocked off. The lifeguard at the top of the waterslide informed me that these areas had been open for the previous two days. Due to the complete lack of guest communication I missed out on the use of these activities for all but the final day of my stay. Regarding everything else... Our ocean view room was great. Breakfast buffet (expensive but included with our package) at Ilima Terrace was great. Dinner (expensive) at Tidepool Restaurant was great. The mixed drinks I ordered at the upper pool bar were not that great so I switched to beer the remainder of my stay. Friendly staff throughout. Oh, and we ended up returning the complimentary bottle of champagne to the front desk since we are not huge fans of champagne or sparkling cider. Read less

We absolutely loved our time at the Grand Hyatt Kauai. They made my daughter feel very special for her birthday with apple cider and two flute glasses and a stuffed animal seal with a lei. We received an upgraded room and all the staff went above and beyond. We look forward to returning soon!
