We are typically Air BnB or VRBO folks, but my wife and I wanted to try th Grand Hyatt for our south island home base. I had been loyal to Hyatt properties when traveling for business but it had been some time since I stayed at a Hyatt property. It reinforced why I preferred Hyatt properties when I traveled for business. The cleanliness and attentiveness is why I think Hyatt is as respected as it is Internationally. It is like arriving at a luxury International hotel. No rush or hassle to check in, theproperty was well laid out, the grounds are immaculate and the pool is long and winding which allowed pockets of quiet even when the pool was full. There were 2 large conferences at the property while we were there, but it still feeled quiet and calm. The restaurants on site were great and the Hyatt Club access was a nice bonus. We intend to stay here again on our next visit to Kauai. Read less

Overall, we had a fantastic experience. The service was always friendly and speedy and the hotel has ample amenities that we used to the fullest extent. Check-in: We booked through AmEx Fine Hotels & Resorts and received 1) early check-in at noon; 2) room upgrade from no view to partial ocean view; 3) and free breakfast daily - $108/day value. We did not need late check-out, although I'm sure we would have received it. Anara Spa: My husband loved his garden massage - the masseuse was fantastic and the ambiance with a waterfall and garden was lovely. I used the day pass and enjoyed the sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, and waterfall shower. Avoid going during scheduled aqua-robics classes, as it does change the vibe and ruin the peaceful atmosphere. Pool: Absolutely massive. We were worried that it would feel overrun with kids/people during the holiday weekend, but it remained very chill throughout our stay. We were always able to find two loungers in the shade, and we enjoyed the lazy river every day. Rentals: We used the free beach chair and umbrella rentals daily to take to the beaches, including for the beach onsite. We also rented a great set of flippers ($14/each, a bit pricey). Towel rentals were easy and abundantly offered (no return required, just dump in any bin). Food: Tidepools was our best restaurant experience on the island (Beach House was a very close second). Breakfast at Ilima Terrace was always great with a huge variety of options although there was no obvious day-to-day variation. I recommend the pancake bar with chocolate chip and macadamia nut add-ons. We went to Seaview Terrace every evening for the live music, drinks, and fantastic view. The service at Hale Nalu was great but the food was very bland and super expensive. Captains Bar was always great for a drink. We did not try the Sushi spot but it looked awesome. Highly recommend for your visit to Kauai! Read less

Beautiful Resort. Over-the-top staff helpfulness. Food was delicious, but very pricey. We reserved cabanas at the salt-water lagoon and beach, but would not have had to at the lagoon, as a large number of loungers (albeit without cushions or cover) were available.

Wonderful resort! One of the nicest resorts I’ve stayed at. The rooms and bathrooms are very large! Loved the worst band room key. The staff was very friendly, property was very clean, and the pool was amazing. We used a Hyatt club lounge certificate and visited several times for breakfast. It is a very long walk if you are on the other side of the resort, but we were on vacation so it didn’t bother us. The breakfast in the club lounge is good, but it is the same every day except for the meat. Good selection though and the staff keeps it well stocked. We did have a room that the TV did not work in, but the hotel was good about moving us. The only other negative was that we rented a cabana at the lagoon and no one ever came by to see if we wanted to order food or drinks. We thought that service came with the cabana, so that was a little disappointing. I think they do service the pool area, so maybe the lagoon area is different. We ended up just walking over and ordering our own food/drinks. Overall, these were small things and the beautiful resort made up for it so I’m still giving 5 stars. When we return to Kauai this will definitely be where we’ll stay. Read less

They did such an awesome job!…even with such young kids they captured great shots! I was a little nervous to do this, especially with such young kids and he made it fun and got the young ones to smile. it was also very convenient because we could just walk down from the hotel room to do this and got memories of the place. We stayed all week.
