The staff here at this hotel are pure ALOHA spirit in their hearts and everything they do everyday for their guests at the Hyatt. A beautiful property but for us what brings us back every year are the amazing people!

We chose the Koi Pond venue as it was a little less formal and seemed like more fun what with the whole place built over a Koi pond so the fish swim all around the restaurant while you walk on raised paths with wider sections where the various tables are placed. The menu is heavily Polynesian with all the standard Hawaiian favorites and several interesting variants of spit roasted pigs and mahi-mahi baked in salt (Try this one!). We enjoyed it a lot and will certainly go back next time we are staying in Kauai. Attentive service without being obtrusive made for an overall excellent time. Read less

The hotel grounds are absolutely gorgeous! The hotel staff goes above and beyond. The room next to us, there was some sort of party going on. We called the front desk and they immediately investigated it, and took care of it. As we were there my husband and I were already making future plans to visit the property, and bringing family with us. Can… Read more

My-11-person family took our bi-annual family vacation on Kauai this year (previously stayed on Maui and Oahu and we had carefully chosen the Grand Hyatt for location reasons (equi-distance to sights to west, and to north & east). We made the right decision - location on the island was perfect. Very expensive but worth the money. We had 6-rooms and the hotel accomodated our prior request of all on the same upper floor, all ocean view. Rooms were nice and daily room service was excellent. We booked 7 months prior to our stay, via a travel agent, who set up our rooms, luau reservations, etc. before we arrived so I'm sure that helped. Buffet breakfast (included in room rate) was superb - foods choice outstanding, and all presented very nicely. Breakfast staff were a joy, knew us all by name after just 2 days of our 9-day stay. The casual Seaview Terrace was just right for evening meals after a day out sight-seeing with casual dressing. We all preferred the menu and seating arrangements of the upscale Tidepools restaurant over the fancier Dondero's Italian Restaurant, though they both served excellent quality food. Went to the Wednesday on-site Luau (runs Sundays and Wednesdays). Very pricey (we had a Premier front table) but a nice show and souvenir photos were free. Good food choice (buffet style - which the kids prefer). The pools were voted best of any resort that we as a family have ever stayed in (and we've been fortunate to stay in quite a few nice resorts). The kids particularly liked the saltwater sand beach pool and the water slide. Lots of free seating and towels for the adults around the pools. The on-site Avis dealership made vehicle renting a breeze (they have Pacifica minivans, GMVC SUVs and Jeep 4-wheel drives) The on-site shops are pricey (as is normal) but the variety of clothing choices was good as were the snacks in the on-site food shops. The only negative was the on-site Expedia concierge. Mostly nice people but they are subcontracted to the Hyatt (not part of the Hyatt staff) so they didn't have direct access to the hotel restaurant reservation system (they had to wait until the restauarant was open). And they messed up one of my family outings - though it was fixed at no charge to me. Kids liked the 10:00 am daily parrot feeding and the Koi fish feeding in the hotel. Beach is not big but adequate as red flags were up every day that we were there. Monk Seals would laze on the beach. Spinner Dophins, Green Turtles and Humpback Whales all visible from the hotel balconies. Defintely the resort to stay in on this Garden Paradise, if you can live with the prices. Read less
