We spent a week at Four Seasons Oahu. We had a fabulous experience. I have very high expectations and this resort surpassed all of them. The location, staff, decor, amenities all added to our amazing Hawaiian experience. When you’re welcomed with smiles and a Hawaiian lei upon check-in, you can be rest assured you’ll be in the best of hands.

This was a very disappointing stay, and not typical of the Four Seasons brand. The service and the condition of the room were the biggest disappointments by far. The property itself is nice, but only a stones throw from the neighboring resort which it faces from certain angles, so it feels a bit crowded vs. more secluded and luxurious. This is a big plus for families but not optimal for couples looking for a quiet retreat. Let me start with the room... the shower was dirty. We were somewhat of a late arrival at almost 8:00 p.m. so I cleaned it myself to avoid having to wait for a housekeeper to do it. But, it shouldn't have been dirty to begin with. We were in a Junior Suite, which had a nice amount of room. It was furnished well however, the bench at the foot of the bed was dirty (bodily fluid kind of dirty), and the ottoman in the closet/dressing area was also stained/dirty. I threw the square pillows over the bench to avoid having to look at it. Housekeeping was not good. They would take away things we had requested before we could use them and not replenish what was being used (cotton swabs and cotton pads). Turn down service was bad. We had requested a certain window of time, and it never came within that time frame. One night they just didn't come at all. I was told that there was an unexpected back-up at the hotel because the flight that was going to the Lanai property was cancelled and they were all of a sudden very busy. Yes, things happen, but as a guest at the Four Seasons we never should have been impacted by such a thing. Also, that plane to the other property can only take 8 or 10 people, so for 4 or 5 other couples, we should not have felt the pain of the resort by not getting our turn down (which meant not getting fresh wash cloths, etc.). The other big issue was in the breakfast restaurant - the service was absolutely horrible. We had the breakfast buffet every morning as the menu was very limited. Each morning I ordered coffee when I sat down, and no one ever asked me if I wanted a refill. Not once. As a matter of fact, no one ever stopped by our table (with the exception of our last morning) to see if there was anything else we wanted - like more water, or, well, anything. Every morning I wanted a refill and I would watch the servers and the bussers walk by us looking at our tables but not making eye contact. Never doing anything but sidling up to the table and taking empty plates then disappearing quickly. It was the worst service I have ever experienced at a Four Seasons. Actually, it is the only time I have ever had anything less than stellar service at a Four Seasons. I had the opportunity to meet the Housekeeping Manager who was on loan from a different property for two weeks. He was fantastic. On our last night he stopped by our room to check and see if things had improved, and I shared with him what we had experienced with his department as well as in the restaurant. He clearly felt terrible, and he took care of our dinner on the last night (which was a lovely gesture, but in no way was it able to make up for the mid-range hotel experience we were having). The next morning, we went to the breakfast restaurant for our last breakfast, and for the first time we were greeted by name, and attention was actually paid to us. It is a shame it took a complaint to get the service the Four Seasons is known for. Read less
