The hotel is nice, but it's a bit outdated in some areas. The hallways are a bit rundown, although the rooms are very nice. The rooms are modern looking and clean and spacious. We had the ocean view room, and we had a nice view of Waikiki beach from our room and lanai. We also appreciated the free reusable water bottles offered in the room. The room has the amenities you'd expect (e.g., hair dryer, coffee maker) and some you might not (e.g., beach bag, slippers). The elevators were being serviced the week we were there and that made getting an elevator very difficult. We walked down from the 9th floor many times during our visit after waiting over 10 minutes and still no elevator. Many others did the same. For people on higher floors, though, this was much less an option and probably even more frustrating. Because the waits were so long, when an elevator did arrive, there were often 10-20 people waiting and you couldn't even get on the first elevator to arrive and had to wait more. And, although I'm sure it was safe, as a woman, I didn't always feel as comfortable as I would have liked walking down the stairs and in the back areas of the hotel to get to the lobby floor. Location is in the center of Waikiki Beach, with the beach across the street so it's hard to complain about the location (unless you don't want to be in the middle of the bustle). Waikiki beach is a bustling place with tons of people everywhere. The hotel is busy, the streets are busy, and the beach is busy. It's a lively area if you like that sort of thing (and I do). There are many stores and restaurants nearby, and the stores are mainly of the super high-end variety (e.g., Prada, Jimmy Choo, Tiffany & Co.), but there are a few moderately priced stores and, of course, the ever-present ABC souvenir/convenience stores all along the beach. There is also a shopping mall on the bottom two floors of the hotel, and that makes the hotel a lot more crowded and that's less ideal, I think. But there's a farmer's market in the hotel T and TH afternoons and that was pretty cool with local vendors. Because of the location, it can be loud. There's a lot of street and beach noise, and even noise coming from the pool area of the hotel (e.g., morning yoga). On the 9th floor, we could hear it all pretty well. Up on the higher floors, it's probably much quieter (and those floors are more expensive). The sliding glass doors cover the noise pretty well, but opening those doors gets you a lot more than the warm breeze. Check-in also took about 20 minutes due to a very long line (on a Wednesday afternoon), but generally service at the hotel was friendly and good. Service at the bell desk and getting a cab was very good. I also went to the spa for a massage while I was there. The spa is beautiful and the massage was good, but the services are very expensive (like everything in Hawaii). It was also pretty frustrating to have the tranquility of the massage interrupted by the music show on the first floor of the shopping mall in the hotel during the afternoon massage. I'm not really sure there's a way to avoid that, though, besides checking the show schedule and not scheduling your massage during that show! Read less

The hotel is right in the middle of Waikiki, across from the main beach. The pool area has great lunch items, and if You're lucky, Barbara will be working. This hotel is great value. Try and get a room in the diamond head tower with a view of diamond head.

Great Location but the Lounge staff needs to better know what are they serving and not stress on charging for evening drinks with every single order(Ideally there should not be a additional minimum charge for evening cocktails after spending so much) We never got the rooms that we booked for and as the hotel explained Booking.com is advertising wrong. When we called before check in the lady was abrupt and asked us to either contact Booking.com or pay additional 25$ for the kind of rooms we wanted. On second call we were lucky to speak with Stacey who handled things better. Effort was appreciated.Hotel guests should not be asked to deal with booking channel.Hotel should look into the matter and sort out themselves. Basic things did not work properly in both our rooms untill we had to call and get it fixed.something we would not expect from Hyatt Regency. They took deposit but everytime we ordered something it took more then 20minutes for staff to cordinate with front desk as they could not see there is deposit money for our rooms plus we had to ask for things included in resort fees, it should have been provided before asking. These things almost ruined our much awaited vacation. As a resort property they should consider having atleast steam room and indoor Jacuzzi with bigger pool. Shout out to the gentleman in club lounge during breakfast (I should have remembered his name as he is the only person why we will recommend this property, Hyatt needs people like him along with Ashley and the lady at expedia desk who booked our tour) Read less

The ukulele player at the elevators was a gem. Oh, and the location is pretty good too. Grab a chair and some towels and head across the street to the beach... Nice. We had a room with a Waikiki view that was pretty nice. Sunsets every night, and maybe the best ocean view room you'll ever get without actually being classified as an ocean view room. On another note... the washlets in the bathrooms are a very nice touch. The rooms aren't fancy, but they are comfortable. We like the Hyatt and will definitely stay here again. Read less

The regency club is one of the best with variety of foods, great staff and open 24 hours. Just across the street is the beach and easy access to the main street. This is better than than one of the beach front properties in Waikiki. If you have a ocean view room, you can watch the surfers in the morning and enjoy sunset in the evenings. The best is the hotel staff and they provide great service. Read less
