Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort

Honolulu, Oahu

The hotel

Enjoy an aloha-style welcome at the award-winning Outrigger Reef. You can take in the stunning ocean views, relax among the Polynesian canoe art and soak up the sun by the pool. In need of some peace and pampering? Look no further than the elegant Spa — we recommend the traditional Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage. But if you like to be more active, why not set sail in a catamaran (keep your eyes peeled for spinner and bottlenose dolphins) or enjoy a paddle in the surf in an authentic outrigger canoe. If you prefer dry land, amble along the Waikiki Beach Walk promenade, stopping at a café on route, or take a hike to Point Leahi at the summit of Diamond Head. Back at the hotel, you can grill-your-own hand-carved steaks and fresh fish by the beach or dine poolside at Kani Ka Pila Grille, as you watch the live evening entertainment.

First trip to Hawaii. Picked hotel because of the Trip Adviser ratings. Best choice for us. On Waikiki beach at a quiet spot next to a beautiful military park. Full view of Hilton Friday night fireworks. Rooms are not outdated, but traditional instead of modern. We stayed until 6 pm in a different room the last day because our flight didn’t leave until 11 pm. (Charge of $25.00 per additional hour very worth every penny). Both rooms were city view and have VIP status with Expedia so both rooms had a partial ocean view. First room overlooked the pool. Second room overlooked the military park and museum. Expedia Concierge Lydia was outstanding travel tour arranger. Breakfast buffet low quality. Don’t purchase ahead. Read less

What struck us was the wonderful help Stanley gave us when checking in and how helpful Donna was with assisting us with all our many queries. Nicole was a true professional with setting up excursions for us. It was the best holiday we've had in years and the membership with their Voyager Club was definitely worth it. We hope to return next year and stay with Outrigger Reef again and stay a lot longer. Read less

Chose this hotel primarily for the location. Sits on the beach and is within walking distance to many other properties. The decor in the rooms and hallways is well worn. Peeling wallpaper in our bathroom and hallway, scuff marks on walls everywhere. The gym is small and stuck in a depressing basement. Activities at the hotel are minimal. There is… Read more

Peeling wallpaper in our bathroom and hallway, scuff marks on walls everywhere. The gym is small and stuck in a depressing basement. Activities at the hotel are minimal. There is a huge empty space right on the beach that would be great as a beach patio. The stores are average, just lots of touristy crap you can buy at the ABC store for half price with a better selection. Not sure why they have a Concierge because they do very little except to steer you to the activity desk. This is not a 4 star property unless they up their game. The housekeeping staff were the best staff members there. Read less

Donna at the front desk made us feel very welcome upon check-in, Cherwin made our vow renewal service a very pleasant, stress free moment and Heidi and Chu did a wonderful job of ensuring our room was clean. Our friends in Australia were impressed with the photos of the vow renewal service. We loved the Starbucks and Hotel shops on the premises. The shuttle bus to Ala Moana and Diamond Head made our travelling a lot easier. The hotel has an excellent laundry which is perfect for families. The entertainment in the evening by the pool makes one feel relaxed and at peace. We really can't fault the hotel. Whenever we were out sighseeing we would always refer to the hotel as 'home'. It really gives you the feeling of Ohana. Mahalo! Read less
