Park Shore Waikiki

Virgin rating

The hotel

Ocean views, central location and a relaxed island-style atmosphere awaits you at the Park Shore Waikiki. Cross the road and you'll be on the beach in seconds, where you can rent fun inflatables from Beach Candy Waikiki, or try your hand at a spot of surfing (it has to be done in Hawaii doesn't it?!). We recommend choosing a Diamond Head Ocean View room for the best combination when you look out from your private balcony, but you'll also find these great views from the pool deck. You can indulge in your cravings no matter what time of day at Lulu's - there's flavours for everyone to enjoy alongside live music, local draft beers and big screens for sports viewing. This is a great base to explore, with Honolulu Zoo right next door, and Kuhio Beach on the other side, with a whole host of restaurants, bars and shops within walking distance too.

Booked a Premium Room, 1 King Bed, Ocean View (Diamond Head) for 3 nights and got exactly that on a high floor booking via Hotels.com We prefer this end of the strip as it’s quieter and has easy access to the airport. Knowing it’s a mid range hotel with local charm and not an international chain we knew what to expect. The lobby is large and the scent pumped out is too strong, but it’s comfortable to hang out in. We were seen to promptly. There is a water fountain in the lobby that you can refill bottles, also aloe Vera and sunscreen. There are 3 lifts so we never waited too long. The room was pretty small, but we’ve had smaller @ the Moana Surfrider which wasn’t within our budget this time given the poor exchange rate. In our room was a lovely card with generous gifts as we were celebrating a special milestone. The view was spectacular of the ocean and diamond head. We turned off the aircon which was left on for us and opened up the balcony sliding door for those cool breezes. The room amenities were quite cheap in brand and quantity. We didn’t have glasses to have a drink and had to use the plastic ones provided with our gift. Given service to the room is limited, they should be more generous. The bed mattress needs replacing/ turning as we slept upside down and it was better. The resort fee is high and some of the listed inclusions are a joke as you’ve paid to stay there. Being able to rent beach equipment daily was fine but I’d rather pay a smaller fee and pay for what I want to use. The whole resort fee culture drives me bonkers in the US. Overall it was value for our money in the overpriced strip and it met our expectations for a mid range hotel. Being able to hear the monkeys in the zoo vs other loud noises and looking at that view would make us recommend this to others. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Disappointing Experience – Not Worth the Price

• Overpriced for What You Get: We paid around AUD 2,000, but the experience was far from worth it. For the price, one would have been better off staying at the Aston Waikiki Circle, saving $500 and likely getting a better view. • Misleading Ocean View: Although we were allowed an early check-in, the so-called “Ocean View King Room” was more of a… Read more
• Overpriced for What You Get: We paid around AUD 2,000, but the experience was far from worth it. For the price, one would have been better off staying at the Aston Waikiki Circle, saving $500 and likely getting a better view. • Misleading Ocean View: Although we were allowed an early check-in, the so-called “Ocean View King Room” was more of a partial ocean view. It didn’t live up to our expectations. • Lack of Basic Amenities: The room, while not too small, was poorly equipped. There was no electric kettle or tea bags, making it difficult to enjoy our morning tea. The outdated coffee machine with its meager creamer allocation provided little comfort. • Inconsistent Room Service: Room service was only provided every other day, and we had to practically beg for it to be scheduled on days that suited us. This was completely unacceptable. • No Breakfast Included: Charging this much and not even offering breakfast feels like daylight robbery. • Unengaged Staff: The front desk and staff were neither welcoming nor friendly. It’s disappointing to encounter such lackluster service in the hospitality industry, where warmth and friendliness are essential. • False Advertising: The toilet lacked a bidet, despite it being advertised, which was quite frustrating. • Unreasonable Late Checkout Fees: Despite it being the off-season, our request for a late checkout was met with a charge of $120 for just five extra hours. This could have easily been a courtesy. • Unimpressive Pool Area: The pool area was dirty and overall underwhelming, far from the relaxing space we had hoped for. • Incorrect Room Assignment: We were clearly given the wrong room. We had requested a high-floor room but were provided with something much more basic. • Insufficient Bedding: The blankets provided were inadequate, making for an uncomfortable night’s sleep. • Poor Location: Lastly, the hotel is situated at the edge of the strip, which is not ideal for those wanting to be in the heart of the action. We specifically wanted a full ocean view but ended up with a partial one. Read less

We stayed for my wife's birthday weekend. From the start , everyone was completely helpful . The Valet "August" to every member of the staff was completely helpful and a joy to work with. We chose the 2 queen room on the pool deck and it was superb. We will be back!!
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Doesn't honor Expedia room choice

Aug 26, 2024 chmbonney Las Vegas, Nevada

The hotel did not give me the quality room choice that I paid for through Expedia. The concierge told me the photos were old and they need to take them off the expedia website and they put me in a partial ocean view when I paid for ocean view.
