Queen Kapiolani Hotel

Honolulu, Oahu

Virgin rating

The hotel

Named after the beloved wife of Hawaii’s last king, Queen Kapiolani is something of a Waikiki landmark, paying homage to Hawaii’s majestic heritage and unique culture with a modern twist. Overlooking the sandiest stretch of Waikiki Beach, guests can enjoy stunning views of Diamond Head from the balconies of their newly renovated rooms, each and every one of them furnished in breezy Island style. As a change from the beach, laze beside the pool instead, dipping in every now and again to cool off. Although there are restaurants all around you, the hotel’s own Kulana is highly recommended, not just for buffet favourites but for its sweeping panoramic views! Pre-dinner, chill awhile at the Deck Pool, sipping on your favourite cocktail – a Mai Tai perhaps?

We stayed here on the backend of our Hawaiian vacation and it was tremendous. While some of the amenities need updating, pool tiles need fixed, the entire stay was fantastic. Great stay albeit a short one at Queen Kapiolani. I needed it for 1 night of TLA before my lease started and it was perfect. The restaurant was delicious, the staff were friendly, and the room was incredibly clean! Their gym was also great and there was a variety of equipment options.

Overall, good location. Average pricing. Really pleasant deck for breakfast (and early evening drinks!). Short stroll to beach. Basic room (slightly underwhelming) and wishing I had paid the extra for the Mountain View (the ‘city view’ room was not great). This said, we were out pretty much all day so room was fine. I would return if/when I… Read more

Our stay was incredible, made amazing especially by Kawai, Josh, and Calvin. Service was exceptional, timely, and always delivered with a smile with local recommendations. Concierge staff always took time to ask us where we were coming from, and how they could make our stay better. It truly felt like a family experience. We would 100% recommend this place to friends and family because of it. The one thing that we could say negatively was there were roosters who would wake us around 4am - but for non light sleepers, it probably isn’t an issue Read less
