The hotel

Situated right at the end of Waikiki Beach, just across the road from that soft, powdery sand, this large friendly hotel is in a slightly quieter spot than some other hotels and offers a fun and playful atmosphere. The rooms are decorated in a colourful, tropical style. On the 3rd floor, Tiki's Grill & Bar is a cool hangout with a real Hawaiian atmosphere — there's tasty locally sourced dishes, live entertainment and an outdoor terrace to sip a cocktail as you watch the sun set.

I loved my stay at the TF Waikiki !!!!! Definitely made my 1st time in Hawaii amazing. Views for the high floor were spectacular and the breakfast was delicious.

I would highly recommend The Twin Fin because of the location, friendly staff, free activities like lei making and yoga on the beach. This hotel is nice and clean with great food as well. The only shortcoming was the room size, with 3 people and 3 suitcases...it was snug. But I would stay here again.

One of the staff stole $50 from me cash and when I asked another employee to look at the camera she said no point because they accept tips.

We booked the King Oceanview room with lanai: This hotel (motel is more appropriate) is a complete dive - not sure how it is rated as a 4 star hotel - we have experienced Best Westerns and Motel 6 outfits more luxurious than this. Upon check-in the place offers you a 15 second peek at a laminated card of the "amenities" they offer - which included two free towels daily and two refillable drinking water bottles to last your entire stay. This dive has no air conditioning, but places a thermostat in the room as a decoy that just blows recirculated air that is humid. The bathroom is not ventilated, with holes in the ceiling, and the toilet paper holder fell out of the plywood sink base, if you can imagine that. Very outdated. The in room fridge leaked so badly our first night there was a puddle of water that seeped into all our food, destroying it. This is the one issue this dive did fix by installing a new fridge, but left the carpet next to it saturated. Did nothing to make up for the loss of our meals. We did not see housekeeping until 5:00 pm the day the room was scheduled to be cleaned, and this was after we had to ask the front desk if the dive offered housekeeping. Unreal. The carpet is dirty and damp, and the seal around the room door is so poor the light from the hallway seeps into room at night, making it difficult to sleep. The seal of the sliding glass door is also ill fitted, allowing a constant whistle to permeate the room at night. We could not check out fast enough, and were blessed to be able to get out of there - apparently there was a sewer back up they were experiencing as we departed, because the stench of fecal matter and sewage permeated the air once you stepped off the elevators, which, by the way, the elevators do not function half the time. Once, it took us 6 minutes to get from the lobby to floor 12, I kid you not. We did reach out to the reservation desk to express our poor experience, but our efforts were met with silence (no response) to the point where we called the hotel next door (the Marriot) to find a different place to stay. We ended our stay on a high note at a true luxury resort, the Hilton Beach Waikiki Resort 2 miles down the road. If you prefer an extremely outdated, crowded, loud frat house vibe with a bunch of uncontrolled yelling children, a small pool, rude patrons and front desk staff, this is your place. You could not pay me to revisit this dive. Read less
