Golden Nugget Las Vegas

Downtown, Las Vegas

The hotel

Boasting some of Las Vegas’ finest rooms and suites after a $380 million dollar transformation, it’s easy to understand why. The accommodation is divided between four majestic towers with wonderful views of the Las Vegas Strip, the Spring Mountains and the hotel’s incredible pool. Then there's the Tank, as the swimming complex is known, comes complete with a shark tank, 3-storey waterslide and 13 private cabanas for hire. There’s also an infinity pool, aptly named The Hideout, which is strictly for adults only. Other temptations include a superb spa with steam rooms, sauna, massage and beauty treatments plus a state-of-the-art fitness centre to work off those American-sized portions! Several restaurants are at your disposal, including Vic and Anthony’s, one of the country’s finest steakhouses. Alternatively, head to Chart House for sumptuous seafood, Red for Pan-Asian cuisine or Grotto for Italian fare. Come sundown, Troy Liquor Bar is the place to be with a lively atmosphere, DJs and exotic cocktails. An incredible hotel with an incredible range of amenities, look out in particular for the Hand of Faith in the lobby - a 61-pound gold nugget found in Australia in 1980 with a metal detector just six inches below ground – now that’s Lady Luck at her finest!

This hotel is terrible. I booked it specifically for the water slide that goes through the fish tank, but the slide was shut down. The pool was so extremely cold, that even though it was 90 outside, no one could get in it. This hotel is terrible. I booked it specifically for the water slide that goes through the fish tank, but the slide was shut down. The pool was so extremely cold, that even though it was 90 outside, no one could get in it. Since we couldn’t swim, we decided to watch a movie in the room, but the tv was from 1990 and had a horrible picture and you could only get cable, adult movies, and a couple of other random selections. When I called guest services to see if they happened to have any newer TVs or anything, the girl was sassy and uncaring. The A/C sounded like a helicopter taking off. The beds are doubles, not queens so there is barely any room and there are no comforters, just two sheets on top of the bed. The rooms dont look at all like they do on The website and the whole hotel smells like smoke. Overall, this was a horrible experience. Stay on the strip and forget this place! Read less

Overall, my husband and I had a great time during our 5-night stay in the Gold Tower at the Golden Nugget. We were upgraded to a nice suite, which was wonderful. Our front desk service was 5-star. COVID-19 vacation at the Nugget compared to last year: 1. No Housekeeping Services. They don't clean rooms during your stay, but they will deliver items to your room as needed (extra towels, shampoo, etc.) I love not having to make my own bed when I am on vacation - but no such luck this time. 2. 5-handed poker, no plastic divider screens in the poker room. No tournaments. Golden Nugget has the only open Poker Room downtown right now. 3. No Valet Service. Only self parking - which gets full fast. We had to park at the Plaza and walk back to the hotel on the weekend, because the Golden Nugget lot was full. They are not offering the close garage where valet used to park, which seems crazy. Maybe they could offer that garage for handicapped and guests? 4. No bell desk after 5:00pm. Carry your own luggage these days! 5. No 24-hour front desk service. Closes at 11pm. 6. Checking temperature of guests on the weekend only. Walk-through door testing. 7. Pool rules are extensive. LONG lines to get into the pool . Hot tub is closed. 8. Fremont Street is well regulated and much cleaner than last year! One good thing that came with COVID regulations is that there are fewer street "performers" and it seems less seedy downtown. 9. Live Keno is dying downtown now too. I love Keno, and there are so few live, ball-drop Keno rooms anymore. I could always count on Four Queens and Fremont whose rooms are still open but for very limited hours. 10. Lots of restaurants close at 11:00pm. This was a surprise for us as we trudged from hotel to hotel hoping to find a place to sit and eat. We love the diner at Binion's - closed at 11. Magnolia's at Four Queens - closed at 11. Disappointing. 11. The other thing we noticed different from last year is the pervasive scent of pot EVERYWHERE. The parking garage was the worst - and it seemed like there were lots of people just "hanging around" the parking garage too. Not encouraging. All in all, we had a good time. Just different. If you have a chance, check out the Sahara. Great poker room and the machines seemed looser than downtown. Have fun! Read less

I'll admit I was worried after seeing the reviews on here lately. They were all over the place, ranging from great to horrible. We've stayed at the Nugget before. Besides all the Covid issues, the place is pretty much the same. Of course they are following protocols which does make things inconvenient. Masks must be worn at all times, and this is strictly enforced. Your temperature is taken before check in. Check in for our party was without issue, except for the fact we had all asked to be booked on the same floor. There were 3 couples. We had all booked king beds. Somehow we all ended up with 2 double beds. We tried to switch back to our original rooms, but was told there were no king beds available. This was not a big issue, but it would have been nice to be told that we would be getting 2 beds instead of the 1 king. The rooms were immaculate. Very nice. Good water pressure in the bathroom. If you've never stayed at the Golden Nugget you should know there are no microwaves, refrigerators, or coffee pots. I believe some are available at extra costs. I need coffee in the morning, so we packed a small coffee pot. There are 2 Starbucks, and a Chick-fil-A close to the elevators so coffee is available there. There is a Claim Jumper, Salt Grass, & Cadillac restaurants. Our favorite is Claim Jumper. Really good food and all day breakfast. The pool is open, but they are limited to a certain amount of people for covid protocols. I would say half capacity. Same on the gaming tables. Only 3 people per blackjack table. 6 per crap table. Some casinos had plexiglass shields up which allowed for full game play. Each casino was doing things differently in regards to their safety protocols. Obviously everyone is entitled to their opinion, so I can only say we didn't encounter many of the issues in some of the recent reviews. We really like the access to Fremont street from the Nugget. We prefer to stay downtown. We will be back. In August I believe. Hopefully this will all be back to normal by then. Read less

It was interesting trip with covid 19. The staff of Golden Nugget made sure everyone was wearing their mask. Take a drink at a machine then put mask back on good policy. Same for smokers. The beds are good not to hard. The food is expensive average 15 dollars for most items. Mexican food was good. Lots of restaurants closed till Thursday then… Read more

The beds are good not to hard. The food is expensive average 15 dollars for most items. Mexican food was good. Lots of restaurants closed till Thursday then everything opened up. It was same for all the other casinos around. Taxies were expensive so switched to Uber. Food was cheaper at other casinos. The slots seemed tight although I have been told they are just random spins if you hit you hit. There was not a lot of winning that I saw. Smoke from California fires were a problem could not see mountains 2 days. There are no shows open yet so walking around and some tours are open. The beer was coldest at 4 Queens. Once we found a waitress they would bring drinks to machines just had to get them started this was same at all casinos. By Friday the hotel was full and Freemont Street was very crowed. The security was still checking people for mask on Freemont Street. Good Job. Just be prepared to wear your mask for hours. The rooms are not cleaned daily unless you call. If you need anything you have to call even for trash pick-up. Be prepared sodas and coffee are 3.50 to 4.00. It was good trip will be glad when we return to no masks. Read less

Stayed in Gold Tower. No luggage rack to be found. Per front desk, they were removed due to Covid. Really? The TV remote, phone, clock, ice bucket, etc get touched more! And wouldn't it be super fast and easy to wipe the surface of the rack? Had to balance our luggage on the chairs. Also no tissue nor extra TP. Yup....due to Covid. Front desk did… Read more

Front desk did send up some tissue, unopened box. Brilliant idea! No "do not disturb/service requested" door tags. So we had NO housekeeping for the 3 days. Garbage piled up. Not good. Casino floor has tight aisles with bottleneck areas blocking access. Read less
