The hotel

Boasting some of Las Vegas’ finest rooms and suites after a $380 million dollar transformation, it’s easy to understand why. The accommodation is divided between four majestic towers with wonderful views of the Las Vegas Strip, the Spring Mountains and the hotel’s incredible pool. Then there's the Tank, as the swimming complex is known, comes complete with a shark tank, 3-storey waterslide and 13 private cabanas for hire. There’s also an infinity pool, aptly named The Hideout, which is strictly for adults only. Other temptations include a superb spa with steam rooms, sauna, massage and beauty treatments plus a state-of-the-art fitness centre to work off those American-sized portions! Several restaurants are at your disposal, including Vic and Anthony’s, one of the country’s finest steakhouses. Alternatively, head to Chart House for sumptuous seafood, Red for Pan-Asian cuisine or Grotto for Italian fare. Come sundown, Troy Liquor Bar is the place to be with a lively atmosphere, DJs and exotic cocktails. An incredible hotel with an incredible range of amenities, look out in particular for the Hand of Faith in the lobby - a 61-pound gold nugget found in Australia in 1980 with a metal detector just six inches below ground – now that’s Lady Luck at her finest!

Prior to arrival I upgraded our room to Rush Tower after research confirming limited refrigerator availability for regular rooms. I was under the impression that I upgraded to a suite. However, upon arrival there was no fridge or coffee maker as advertised. Per their instructions I reached out to inquire about refrigerator availability. I was advised that it cost $50.00 which was very surprising because we were supposed to have a suite. When I inquired further I was advised that we only had a standard room. I didn’t move forward with the refrigerator because I wasn’t wanting to pay another $200.00. Much to my surprise, the day before check out a text went out instructing on how to request a late check out time. I requested a late check out. I did not hear back from them so today (check out day) I went to the lobby to inquire. I was advised because we had a SUITE we could not stay past 1:00 pm and would be required to pay an additional $30.00. I find it interesting that when it came to amenities and service it was only at the convenience of the resort. It was inconvenient for me to ask for a refrigerator so BOOM I was in a standard room and now it’s inconvenient for me to ask for a late check out so BOOM all of a sudden I have a suite. Not impressed and feel that this was not professionally dealt with when brought to the resorts attention so I felt compelled to leave a review. Read less

We stayed at the golf tower. Our bathroom was very dated, bath cracked and floor cracked. It had a lingering stench of sewage. The casino hotel ventilation was poor and I felt like I’d smoked hundreds of cigarettes. Issues with laundry not being delivered back to the room and rude bell staff when chased up. To cap it all we left our bags for the morning and again the bell desk asked for a gratuity before handing us our ticket instead of when we picked it up Across the street is the newer, cleaner, nicer circa. Our bathroom was not what we expected. We had mirror veneer peeling, paint peeling, caulk missing and moldy, rust on and in the tub and the drain was so clogged that when we got out, dried off and were partially dressed the tub finally drained. We requested room service twice and neither time received it. We were supposed to get 2 days of resort fees back and have yet to get the credit. Asked and talked to 3 people and still don’t have the refund. It was our first time here at the Golden Nugget and will be out last. Read less

Facilities and staff are great. Check in was fast . Haven't been to Vegas for several years when I stayed at the Nugget. This trip we wanted the old Town experience again so on past experience we chose the Nugget again. I wouldn't stay any place else
