The hotel

Boasting some of Las Vegas’ finest rooms and suites after a $380 million dollar transformation, it’s easy to understand why. The accommodation is divided between four majestic towers with wonderful views of the Las Vegas Strip, the Spring Mountains and the hotel’s incredible pool. Then there's the Tank, as the swimming complex is known, comes complete with a shark tank, 3-storey waterslide and 13 private cabanas for hire. There’s also an infinity pool, aptly named The Hideout, which is strictly for adults only. Other temptations include a superb spa with steam rooms, sauna, massage and beauty treatments plus a state-of-the-art fitness centre to work off those American-sized portions! Several restaurants are at your disposal, including Vic and Anthony’s, one of the country’s finest steakhouses. Alternatively, head to Chart House for sumptuous seafood, Red for Pan-Asian cuisine or Grotto for Italian fare. Come sundown, Troy Liquor Bar is the place to be with a lively atmosphere, DJs and exotic cocktails. An incredible hotel with an incredible range of amenities, look out in particular for the Hand of Faith in the lobby - a 61-pound gold nugget found in Australia in 1980 with a metal detector just six inches below ground – now that’s Lady Luck at her finest!

We did not realise we still had to ask for room to be tended which we did after the first night when we arrived back to room to find no replacement water or towels. Nobody mentioned this on check in. The carpets in the hallways are filthy which we have never noticed before. We were on the 21st floor. Weekends were a nightmare as there is metal detectors and security at all the entrances which I dont blame you for at all but you really need a separate line for hotel guests. We had been out all day and had to queue to get in to our hotel which took over 20minutes. No way to treat regular guests. Only good thing about this hotel now is the lovely staff and Claudes Bar and several other bars. Read less

We originally booked a hotel at Oasis Gold Spike, but the noise downstairs from the nightclub was terrible for our sleep, so we switched to our tried and true favorite after our first night, Golden Nugget. Well, they didn’t notify us when we booked or checked in that there is a SUPER loud music festival directly outside of our window. We would have spent our $600 per night at a different hotel if we had been made aware of this, or at least requested a room away from this. After getting to our room and realizing this, we instantly called the front desk and she claimed she couldn’t move us. On the website, there are plenty of rooms available. We had not touched anything yet… so clearly this isn’t true. I’m very disappointed in Golden Nugget and will be considering staying elsewhere in the future for my frequent Vegas trips. Read less

I don’t understand so many negative comments about the Nugget. We stayed in Gold Tower. Our room was clean. We called Housekeeping to get more tissues. Very friendly lady on the phone and we had tissues in less than 15 minutes. Room was cleaned all the days we were there. Check in clerk was very sweet and gave us a room overlooking the pool. We had no noise from the street. Four stars only because there was a little mold around the shower. There was a smell of sewer as you got off the elevator. To me neither of these is that big of a deal. I do wish, however, they still made you use your key card for the elevator to go. Seems like anyone can get in and go anywhere in the hotel. All in all we had a great stay. Read less

Avoid Carson Tower if possible. Great location but the room quality is not great. Wallpaper was coming off the wall in bathroom and bedroom corners. Faucet and shower water took a long time to heat up. The carpet had not been vacuumed upon arrival. The sheets smelled like they had not been changed in a while, though they were clean. The noise… Read more

Faucet and shower water took a long time to heat up. The carpet had not been vacuumed upon arrival. The sheets smelled like they had not been changed in a while, though they were clean. The noise level was terrible, even on the 17th floor. This is not the hotel’s fault, but thicker walls and curtains could help guests sleep better. Housekeeping and customer service were all great interactions! Everyone was friendly and helpful. The rooms could be better. Read less
