Golden Nugget Las Vegas

Downtown, Las Vegas

The hotel

Boasting some of Las Vegas’ finest rooms and suites after a $380 million dollar transformation, it’s easy to understand why. The accommodation is divided between four majestic towers with wonderful views of the Las Vegas Strip, the Spring Mountains and the hotel’s incredible pool. Then there's the Tank, as the swimming complex is known, comes complete with a shark tank, 3-storey waterslide and 13 private cabanas for hire. There’s also an infinity pool, aptly named The Hideout, which is strictly for adults only. Other temptations include a superb spa with steam rooms, sauna, massage and beauty treatments plus a state-of-the-art fitness centre to work off those American-sized portions! Several restaurants are at your disposal, including Vic and Anthony’s, one of the country’s finest steakhouses. Alternatively, head to Chart House for sumptuous seafood, Red for Pan-Asian cuisine or Grotto for Italian fare. Come sundown, Troy Liquor Bar is the place to be with a lively atmosphere, DJs and exotic cocktails. An incredible hotel with an incredible range of amenities, look out in particular for the Hand of Faith in the lobby - a 61-pound gold nugget found in Australia in 1980 with a metal detector just six inches below ground – now that’s Lady Luck at her finest!

This used to be the best place to stay downtown. The elevators were broken the entire time. No fridge or microwave in room. Fan in bathroom didn't work so the room was moist and humid. The tub was covered in rust. No turn town service which is supposedly due to covid but that's a joke because the place is fully open and no one is wearing masks -… Read more

The tub was covered in rust. No turn town service which is supposedly due to covid but that's a joke because the place is fully open and no one is wearing masks - yet still only 2 towels in the room. Then to top it off, the housekeepers were banging on the door and opening it an hour before check out. The only thing good about this place was the front desk service. Not the fault of the hotel, but instead of performers on Fremont, the circles were filled with homeless people begging for money. Read less

There was a time when the Golden Nugget was head and shoulders above everything else downtown. There was a time when the Golden Nugget was head and shoulders above everything else downtown. Now with the D and Circa there, it's a clear third place in terms of "wow" factor, but still charging room rates like it's the leader of the pack. This, despite: - A Carson Tower room with no Kleenex and no clock/radio - A toilet not designed for anyone above six feet tall to use sitting down comfortably - A perpetual smell of marijuana throughout the property (it may be legal, but man, it smells awful) - The inability to make a reservation at the most popular restaurant on the property, Claim Jumper. Challenges with amenities can be overcome with extraordinary service. Unfortunately, that was not the case here. Anyone's who's staying here with a child is doing so for the pool. Well, the waterslide wasn't working for the first half-hour of the morning we spent there. Big deal, right? Well, it kind of is when it's 100 degrees outside and everyone climbing to the top of the slide is expecting to spend a minute or two in the heat, not 30 minutes. The lifeguard in charge couldn't have been more flippant about the situation, moving with no urgency to try and find her supervisor. Hey, she was getting her hourly rate either way, right? Also, not sure what we did to anger the bartender, but he completely ignored us when we tried to place a drink order. We had to go back to our deck chairs to flag down the waitress...for her to go to the bartender to place the order. We asked her if we were supposed to order with her (you know, making sure the servers get tips and all), and she said it was fine to order directly at the bar. So....? Really, the only pleasant spot was the Chart House - food was exceptional, and the service was top-notch. Unfortunately, that's not going to be enough to make us come back. Golden Nugget - spend some time thinking about whether you want to be the D/Circa, or 4 Queens/Binion's. You're a bad combination of them right now - priced like the former group, but without the pool, you're basically the latter group. Read less

Check in at 1:00 on a Sunday afternoon was a breeze and our Rush Tower room was awesome. While there are no coffee pots in the room we had requested a Kuerig and it was promptly brought to the room and the next day we wanted an extra blanket and it was brought up in minutes. The pool area was really nice and we spent a day in a cabana and really enjoyed the experience. We ate at Salt Grass and both the wife and I thought the meals and price were on point. We never noticed the smell of smoke in the casino as some have said. Highly recommend the Golden Nugget. Read less

Have always stayed at the Golden Nugget, but this stay was a big downer. Where to start... No remote for TV in room. Even after requesting one, for 3 days it never came. 2 towels in room and no maid service. General cleanliness is sub par. Garbage and trash in hallways. The whole floor has the overpowering smell of marijuana. People smoking weed at the door to the casino. Homeless people taking a "bath" in the men's room sink in the casino. I'm a blue collar guy and get along with most anyone but the whole crowd was pretty rough looking. What is NOT the fault of the Golden Nugget is the fact that Fremont Street is nothing more than a bunch of homeless junkies begging in front of casinos. It's flat out embarrassing for the city of Las Vegas. After a decade plus of great Fremont trips we are done with downtown properties. Read less

The pool area was out of towels EVERY time we were there. We went to that Hideaway bar and they ID'ed us, we asked for a towel then as they had been out, they had several stacks of towels and refused to give us one, claiming "these are for the cabana only," no one was paying $200 for a cabana. Then people in the pool, doing cannon balls in 3ft of water, no regulation. I'm not uptight at all, but wow this place was so rundown... the turnover or room cleaning service was non existent due to "Covid measures" meanwhile half the casino was maskless & the sanitizer stations were always empty. Just an all around bad hotel, even after an upgrade to a Rush tower suite. Disappointed..... Read less
