Flamingo

The Strip, Las Vegas

Virgin rating

The hotel

This historic hotel was built by Vegas legend, Bugsy Siegel back in 1946 and it's seen countless celebrities walk through its doors in the last 60 years, as well as being the backdrop for the original Ocean's Eleven film and Viva Las Vegas. It has an amazing location right in the middle of The Strip and near the fantastic Caesars Forum Shops, with award-winning Flamingo Go Rooms. The hotel is great for kids with its amazing Beach Club Pool. The GO Pool offers a 21+ lively pool party experience with its amazing 15-acre tropical pool paradise, which has whirlpools and four different swimming pools nestled among the lush, green foliage. Then there's the Wildlife Habitat, where the resort's eponymous flamingos hang out with turtles, swans and ducks. There's a choice of seven restaurants including Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville and Margaritaville Casino, featuring the 5 O’Clock Somewhere Bar. Margaritaville is as much a state of mind as it is a place. The multi-level Caribbean-themed entertainment venue offers two outdoor patios overlooking the Las Vegas Strip, a nautical-themed restaurant, four distinctive bars, live entertainment nightly (both indoors and outdoors) and a 3,000-sq ft retail store. You can also eat outside by the pool or even enjoy a spot of gambling in the pool casino located at the GO Pool! At the Margaritaville Casino at the Flamingo, guests feel the energy of the Las Vegas strip while enjoying the laid-back vibe of the islands.

Image of the Tripadvisor rating No hot water at Flamingo

Apr 11, 2024 Kathy S

Room was clean, but there are not enough outlet's, and no usb ports. If you like hot showers, stay somewhere else. 5 mornings and not one hot, or even warm, shower. (Yes I complained, no it didn't help.) Paying a daily $50 resort fee and no hot water is not acceptable. I will not be back!

If you are looking for a great location in the heart of the strip at a great price, the Flamingo is the place to consider. The hotel is older, casino smaller but the rooms are clean with some good views. The outside windows are dirty. The staff is friendly. The check in line can be long but we arrived at a perfect time of no line. The garden is… Read more

One of newer renovated “middle of the road” properties. Make sure to ask for the newer renovated rooms instead of getting stuck in an older one which I wouldn’t recommend. It’s a good deal for the money, if you are in a budget, but nothing compared to the Cosmopolitan, Wynn, or Bellagio.

We stayed in one of the Forever Fab Suites at the Flamingo on the strip in Las Vegas (suite #28153). Located on the top floor, this suite has a king-sized bed with an ensuite bathroom (shower, jetted tub, dual sinks, seperate WC with a toilet and another sink), a living room with a large screen TV, wet bar, high top table for two, dining table for four, desk and desk chair, foosball table, and a half bath. When you book room 28161 (the connecting room), you will have an additional room that has two queen beds and an ensuite bathroom with an oversized shower and single vanity. Location - The Flamingo is an excellent location on the strip (central area) next to the promenade with lots of restaurants, the High Roller, ziplines, bars, Ghiradelli ice cream, Jimmy Kimmel's comedy club, candy stores, and a very short walk to: Cromwell, Horsehoe, O'Sheas, Linq, Harrah's, and Caesars (across the street). In my opinion it has the best location on the strip. Property - the property itself is a bit dated, and in need of maintenance (at least in the rooms). There is a large casino floor, a food court, Carlos 'n Charlie's Restaurant, a steakhouse, a small sundries/souvenir store, Starbucks, spa, an outdoor area where you can view flamingos, ducks, koi, turtles, etc., a wedding gazebo, and a large pool area. There are 28 floors total with the top floor being the executive floor. There are two towers each with their own elevator bank. Pool - the pool isn't as nice as Mandalay Bay, but better than the Linq and some of the other properties. There's plenty of space, multiple areas to lounge, and gazebos. Suite - the suite is spacious, with floor to ceiling windows, but needed to be better maintained. The refrigerator in the wet bar didn't work and when we arrived, the staff had moved the tiny refrigerator from the bedroom into the living room and plugged it in next to the table. The suite was clean and had a view of the pool area. Rooms on the other side of the hotel have views of the strip and High Roller/Sphere (see photo for view). Security- we did have two items go missing from our room and reported it to security. They ran a lock investigation which turned up no real evidence of how someone entered the room, but the report they sent us was incomplete-- it had us leaving the room without corresponding entrances to the room with our keys, so it didn't seem to be very reliable. However, the items didn't just disappear into thin air, so be aware that at the time of this writing, there is a theft problem here. You do need to use your key to get up to the 28th floor, but there are no cameras in the hallways. Always use the safe in your room and be sure to secure things you wouldn't necessarily think you need to-- like prescription medication (one of the items that went missing). In reporting the theft, we did find security to be responsive and pleasant to deal with. Parking - on-site. Free parking for Diamond Members and above. $35 - $40 per day for all others. Valet - there is valet parking and a dedicated room to hold your bags if you need to store them before or after check-out. Airport - It is about a ten minute taxi/uber ride to the airport and there is a dedicated area for uber/taxi pick up and drop off. Read less

I've rated this property much higher previously and in general actually don't have many issues here, there is plenty I like about Flamingo but y'all need to cut the BS or I'm going to have to start staying elsewhere. The WiFi has been spotty and unreliable for a while now. The idea that we can only connect 2 devices without at $10 upcharge per device is trash. MGM properties literally let anyone connect. But by far the MOST objectional aspect here is that Flamingo does something to actively jam or suppress our cell phone signals. Why is it that we can walk across the Linq Strip to say, Chayo or Virgil's and suddenly our cell phone's work 100% perfectly again? Yet we stroll out to the pool, on a clear sunny day without a cloud in the sky and all our phones are still in SOS mode? I have news for you, we're not paying extra for the WiFi. Preoccupy yourselves with some other BS scheme. All this is going to do is make me stay elsewhere from now on. I need WiFi/Cell coverage for work and if Flamingo is going to continue to suppress these things in a lame attempt to gain $10 extra for their spotty WiFi, I'm out. Read less
