The hotel

In a city of fabulous excess where big is always beautiful, the 5,000-room MGM Grand takes the XXL biscuit. The world’s second largest hotel features a 6.5-acre Grand Pool Complex containing four swimming pools, three whirlpools, Vegas’ longest lazy river, and waterfalls. The Wet Republic Ultra Pool holds seasonal pool parties too. And that’s just for starters, as the MGM Grand hosts huge sporting events, top shows such as Ka by Cirque du Soleil, Virtual Reality and famous performers such as David Copperfield. On top of that, Hakkasan regularly hosts DJs Calvin Harris and Tiesto. Peckish after all that? Then take your pick from a mouth-watering range of restaurants that satisfy pretty much any mood and taste you can imagine.

MGM was nice in that it has a lot onsite from pool party at wet republic and foot options, but the rooms were subpar. 3/4 guest rooms had restrooms with showers clogged. We had an engineer come look at one of the room showers twice and it remained clogged, so we had to shower with dirty water building up underneath. He wasn't very friendly to unclog the shower either. The staff also seemed unsure if we could move rooms to ones with unclogged showers. Read less

I was so excited to have an anniversary trip with my husband. First time leaving the baby behind, but excited to be kid-free weekend. Of course, easier said than done as a breastfeeding mama. I stupidly assumed there would be a fridge in the room, although there was, it was for the mini bar and it said if used for personal use a charge of $50 would be applied. I called down to see if a fridge could be delivered for my BREASTMILK (in a formula shortage no less) and without any empathy on the phone “Sure, $35/night.” I talked to housekeeping and the front desk, neither offered a discount or an alternative. I hate to be a Karen, but you have to support your moms better than that. Read less

We initially stayed in the west wing, which I do not recommend. It’s like a dark cave, low light, very small, and extremely outdated and grungy. We moved to the grand tower which was nicer, but still in need of an update. The staff were all extremely friendly, helpful and wonderful.
