MGM Grand Hotel & Casino

The Strip, Las Vegas

The hotel

In a city of fabulous excess where big is always beautiful, the 5,000-room MGM Grand takes the XXL biscuit. The world’s second largest hotel features a 6.5-acre Grand Pool Complex containing four swimming pools, three whirlpools, Vegas’ longest lazy river, and waterfalls. The Wet Republic Ultra Pool holds seasonal pool parties too. And that’s just for starters, as the MGM Grand hosts huge sporting events, top shows such as Ka by Cirque du Soleil, Virtual Reality and famous performers such as David Copperfield. On top of that, Hakkasan regularly hosts DJs Calvin Harris and Tiesto. Peckish after all that? Then take your pick from a mouth-watering range of restaurants that satisfy pretty much any mood and taste you can imagine.

Racism at MGM! My family and I came for a short stay and when we pulled up to check in the bellman politely assisted the cars in front of us with their bags. When it was our turn, the bell man went to assist another customer instead. After waiting 20 minutes no one came over to assist. Keep in mind there were 9 of us including children with a lot of luggage that we needed to get up to 3 rooms. I went inside to save time by checking in while my husband waited for assistance with the kids. After a lengthy period of time I was checked in and went to check on him. Obviously frustrated he had still not been assisted. He went to one of the bell men and asked what happened and what the delay was. He was told that he should have flagged someone down despite no one else that was assisted having to have done so. My family had to drag our luggage and belongings up to our room. Keep in mind that my family is black and so was one other couple that also was not helped. We called to report the incident and was transferred to security. They said they would investigate and get back to us. The next morning we still had not been contacted so we called again. Making matters worse we had to go over the details again making it apparent that the issue had not been addressed. No family deserves such poor service at an establishment that is supposed to have such an excellent reputation. We are packing up and going to another hotel for the remainder of our trip. Read less

My husband and I visited for a 4 day getaway. We had an amazing time. Everyone was kind and helpful. All MGM properties are taking social distancing very seriously. The pool was fantastic as was our room. We had delicious meals and an overall great time.

We just spent 2 nights at the MGM to help with the local economy. Upon our keyless check in going into our bank of elevators the attendant told us no more than four people to an elevator. By yesterday morning I went to my elevator & I was the only person there. Then a crowd of 6 people rushed into the elevator. I got out holding my breath &… Read more

I had booked and paid for 2 Stay Well rooms in January long before the Covid 19 took hold. We kept our reservations because we were celebrating our high school graduate. With free parking at all resorts, now is a good time to rent a car in Vegas and see things off the strip. We were able to go out to Red Rocks and check out the scenic loop, eat down at the Towne Square mall and find the reasonably priced Smith market to pick up snacks and drinks for the rooms. Stay Well reception desk was closed but line for regular desk moved quickly. It was disappointing that we were not given connecting rooms when it became clear we had a lock off door in our rooms. That's why I booked 2 rooms. Walking down the hall, we were greeted with a very strong smell of weed. Again, I booked a non smoking section of the hotel because I don't want to smell that crap during my stay. Several housekeepers cleaning rooms and they should be allowed to report that crap especially for the Stay Well floors. The good: Beds were very comfortable. Good linens and towels Black out shades work well Rooms have good sound proofing. Welcome mask packet was a nice touch. Hand sanitizer and masks readily available throughout the result. Several restaurants open as was Starbucks by main lobby. The somewhat bad: Many stores just not opened. The Lazy River is only opened on weekends although I was able to book beds earlier in June for our mid week stay. I received a phone call a day before arrival that they were canceling my reservations and would refund my card within 10 business days. Still waiting for that. Smoking still allowed on casino floor. Seems like this would have been a good time to end that practice but its a business decision. Many more resorts opening in the next few weeks. It was weird to be there and not see the crowds. It's still Vegas. You still see a cross section of humanity and everything that comes with that. Be nice and have fun. Read less
