Excalibur

The Strip, Las Vegas

Virgin rating

The hotel

This good value on-strip casino hotel boasts an enormous pool area and is home to the must-see Tournament of Kings dinner show, complete with knights on horseback, jousting, pyrotechnics and Merlin himself. Las Vegas’s take on old England, the Excalibur would surprise the Knights of the Round Table. But that’s where it leaves England behind and takes on the world. There’s the all-American casino (with 100,000 sq ft of gaming), games arcade, and branch of Johnny Rockets’ famous hamburger chain. There’s Italy, Mexico and Asia (and a bit more America) in its casual restaurants and food court. And there’s Australia in its ‘Thunder from Down Under’ adult show and Australian Bee Gees tribute concert.

The room was comfortable and quiet, things were clean. It was easy to find staff and they were friendly! Our room was great and a decent price for the time as well. We were able to have several modes of transportation utilized during the weekend as well- definitely a great place to stay on the strip!

SECURITY IS SERIOUSLY LACKING! Wow, there is something deeply fishy at this casino. Excalibur has alarmingly bad, sketchy security. I lost something valuable at the Tournament Show. when I realized it the next day and went to security, it was confirmed in their system that they had my item, and it was in their safe. Problem was, there is supposedly only ONE PERSON in the WHOLE CASINO who knows the code to get into the safe, and she had just clocked out (at 3:30PM on a Saturday) and would not stay to open the safe as it was "too far" and she was off. I explained that I was leaving and due at the airport in 45 minutes. She asked my name again, and then said, "You weren't a guest here." I said that our reservations were under my husband's name, and I gave that to her, and she asked me why I didn't have the same last name as him! LOL! Is that a requirement in Vegas? I asked what they would do if something very valuable was found before she clocked back in the next day, and I was told they would just "hold on to it" at the security desk. After she left, I asked to talk to the manager of security, as I wanted to make sure they had contact information for me, as I was going to have to leave. A man came, and again said that no one could get into the safe, but that they would mail my item to me. I asked if it would be mailed insured, in case something happened to it. He said yes. I asked when it would be mailed, and he said, "Tomorrow. Sunday." I was like, Sunday? Really? (Who mails on Sundays??) He nodded and then turned to leave, and I pointed out that he had none of my information? No address or contact info? I wrote it down for him...on a scrap piece of paper handed to me by a security guard. I then asked for the manager's name, which he told me, but which he had trouble spelling, which was not suspicious at all... Fast forward to today...I call and after being on hold for 20 minutes at security, was told that the person I needed to talk to wouldn't be available until 5AM and to call then. I laughed and said no, I was not waking up to call them back at 5AM, I needed to talk to someone who could help me, and I gave the name I had been given. Guess what? They know of no manager with the name I was given. LOLOLOL. They then told me to try calling at 11PM. I said no, and then I was transferred to Lost and Found. Where the safe actually is. You'll be shocked to hear, I'm sure, that the item had not been mailed yet, and Lost and Found had none of my contact information, and...the person that does the mailing clocked out for the day and would not be back until 7:30AM tomorrow. I explained how my item was in the safe, and that no one could supposedly get in to the safe except this other person. I explained what the item was, and I was put on hold for 30 seconds after which I was told that the item was still there. Obviously...complete frikkin chaos, and SUPER SKETCHY. I mean, I know Excalibur is not high end, but C'MON! Really creepy, and clearly there's gotta be some big scams being run with people's stuff that gets lost or left behind. This is the type of place that likely has creepy hidden cameras in people's rooms...know what I mean? Yuck yuck yuck. Read less

We had a great experience. Mobile check in worked great. Room was clean and smelled good. We enjoyed the pool, arcade, Mac King Show, Baja Fresh, and Starbucks on site. Tram to Mandalay Bay worked great. Easy to walk to New York New York and MGM by the sky bridges.

Erika helped us at check-in. Only issue I had and it didn’t get solved was that my room on the 24th floor in the resort tower had absolutely no hot water. This was at 5:00 AM on Saturday and Sunday morning and I’m just assuming I was awake before most of the other guests. Still the water temp was barely Luke warm. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Overall it was satisfactory but needs much improvement in areas. We got dirty sheets when they finally came

Rooms need updating. They are dirty and house keeping is not good. Front desk and table game personal are very friendly. We have stayed here multiple times an honestly I don't think we will go back to this hotel. We will stay at another mgm resort.
