Excalibur

The Strip, Las Vegas

Virgin rating

The hotel

This good value on-strip casino hotel boasts an enormous pool area and is home to the must-see Tournament of Kings dinner show, complete with knights on horseback, jousting, pyrotechnics and Merlin himself. Las Vegas’s take on old England, the Excalibur would surprise the Knights of the Round Table. But that’s where it leaves England behind and takes on the world. There’s the all-American casino (with 100,000 sq ft of gaming), games arcade, and branch of Johnny Rockets’ famous hamburger chain. There’s Italy, Mexico and Asia (and a bit more America) in its casual restaurants and food court. And there’s Australia in its ‘Thunder from Down Under’ adult show and Australian Bee Gees tribute concert.

The Excalibur is a little dated but rooms were clean and generally quiet. The lobby and casino area are pretty dark and smoking is fairly common but also clean. Would recommend if you are on a budget and want to stay on the strip. It is nice that you can easily get to other properties like Mandalay Bay and Luxor.

Feels dated. It's no surprise, considering the age of the building, that the feeling of the property is "worn". with the amount of people coming through there it shows. Feels dated. It's no surprise, considering the age of the building, that the feeling of the property is "worn". with the amount of people coming through there it shows. We were surprised that smoking is allowed in the casino, ventilation handled it pretty well, but allergies still kicked in. The staff were, okay, but " off putting", we went on our own, not with a group or trip planner, so any questions we had were met with an attitude of " you should know that". We were surprised that the front desk. at check in, didn't offer or suggest a conversation with the concierge or offer casino vouchers or tour coupons. Most of the offers were pushing the time share offers. Room was, again okay. Dated, but clean. Bed was comfortable, and linens were okay. Read less

Ok hotel in Vegas. Good location and value for money. Surprisingly long queues even outside high season. Of course you can do better by going north of the Strip, but you pay accordingly. The hotel shops are good and the staff is friendly. Nothing exceptional but you can have pretty good deals.

Gets the job done. Bed is like a rock. It's not the worst, but definitely shouldn't be called a "resort"
