This hotel is run down. The bathrooms are in very poor condition. Cracked sinks, mold, cracked floor and shower tiles, blow dryer that sparked when turned on, small. The a/c didn’t work right either. The breakfast is a bagged. A prepacked muffin, danish and apple. The apples were bruised and muffins were squished. They would be better off saving… Read more

The breakfast is a bagged. A prepacked muffin, danish and apple. The apples were bruised and muffins were squished. They would be better off saving their time and money and just making the rate cheaper w no breakfast. During check out I was overcharged. I booked directly through the website too. One night had a $50 higher charge than it should have been. I had to show my original email w the rates booked to get it fixed. This is my second time staying here and was overcharged both times. When I asked what happened I was not given a response nor was I offered any compensation for all of the issues. I won’t be back. Read less

We've stayed here 4 times, here's a new review. First impressions: CLEAN!! The place smelled fresh & clean throughout. We stayed 5 days, and this never changed. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful. Grab & Go breakfast bags plus coffee (yay!) - except one or two mornings we were too early - we just went out to DD for breakfast that day. If we needed towels or trash taken, we just asked housekeeping staff on the floor in the morning. We stayed on the 4th floor - very quiet except the squeeky door (Room 450). We enjoyed eating out at many of the local restaurants - you do have to plan as many are closed Mon/Tues. Just be flexible! We loved the shopping, day hikes, drives to Dixville Notch... We'll be back next fall! Read less

We were in North Conway and stopped by the Grand to check it out. We always stayed there and loved it. Now, restaurant is closed, bar not open, no fire in lobby fireplace, not sure about pools. So sad, this was such a great place not to long ago. Hard to get workers now I guess. The price is too high though for what is available on site,… Read more

Red Jacket is cheaper with amenities and a balcony. Sure hope they survive!! Loved it there. ❤️ Read less

One of our favorite things about this place in recent years was the breakfast, which is now gone. The hotel is very misleading about what they have replaced it with: a "grab and go" breakfast. It's a bag of VERY low quality fruit, danish and muffin. Literally, you would be able to find nicer breakfast items at most roadside convenience stations. This is not an exaggeration. What's more, the woman overseeing handing out these bags was rude. There is a "you get what you get" policy with these bags that are pre-filled and just handed to you. When I (politely) requested a particular muffin (my kids would only eat the chocolate one) she rolled her eyes, sighed heavily and behaved as though I was being quite demanding. Really? This is how paying guests are treated? Another favorite of past years was complimentary ice cream served to the children every night prior to the evening's movie. It wasn't anything fancy, but the kids LOVED it. The movie is still there, but the ice cream is gone. No apologies made. The overall cleanliness of the hotel seems to have gone downhill. The bathrooms looked more dated than in past years. I realize times have been hard due to the pandemic, and perhaps the staff have very good reasons to not appear to be trying very hard. But, the fact is, our experience this year was lackluster as compared to previous visits and we're thinking we probably won't go back. Read less

Upon entering our room we were greeted by an overwhelming musty odor, similar to the smell of an old hockey bag. I immediately contacted the front desk who eventually sent up house cleaning to address the problem. A short while later a man came to the room with a spray bottle. He sprayed the room then left. The man that came was very nice but the spray did not solve the problem. I then went to the front desk to inquire about a possible room change. As I was approaching the front desk the girl behind the desk was on a cell phone saying to the person on the other end that there’s nothing she could do and she didn’t know what they expect. I wasn’t sure if she was speaking to the man from housekeeping about my issue or just speaking about an entirely different issue of another guest. I then approached the desk and asked if I could please see a supervisor about a problem with my room. The young lady stated she was the supervisor. I then explained the issue I was having with the room and that my wife is pregnant and I did not want her, or my six year old, to spend the next two nights breathing in a strong foul odor from the room. With an attitude she responded, we are all booked for the night, if you’d like I could refund your money and you can go somewhere else. I was surprised because without offering me any options, or at least apologizing for the foul stench of the room, she seemed like she couldn’t care less and as if we were bothering her by bringing it to her attention. It was approximately 8 pm and I knew finding another hotel at this time would be pretty difficult since it was late. I tried to plead with her, explaining the situation again, and asking if there was anything else she could do. With the same attitude, she stared at me blankly and repeated she would refund our money and we could go somewhere else. I went back up to the room and discussed our options with my wife and after trying to deal with the stench we eventually decided it was too bad and had to leave. Luckily, we found another hotel down the road and had a nice stay with no issues. I know my $600 for the two nights that we were going to stay is nothing to the company. But we are a family who like to travel and probably would have visited the hotel again in the future if the experience wasn’t so bad. This hotel should definitely do a better job of keeping their rooms at a certain standard and retrain their supervisors on how to speak properly to guests. Read less
