1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge

Brooklyn, New York

The hotel

There’s more than a ‘nod to nature’ at 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge – it’s eco-friendly to its very core, from your room’s organic bedding to the nature-inspired children’s activities, daily Lobby Farmstand, use of reclaimed barn wood, and local artisanal products at the picnic-style restaurant. Style doesn’t suffer for sustainability, with features like corrugated leather headboards, gritty blackened steel, crate-style slatted closets, and a pop-up beer garden all giving the hotel a cool and contemporary edge. And they haven’t sacrificed those urban hotel essentials either, so you get complimentary WiFi, the Bamford Haybarn Spa, and a free shuttle into Manhattan (in a Tesla electric vehicle naturally) – although you could just stroll over nearby Brooklyn Bridge instead. But it’s the social buzz and views that make this place special, with the best enjoyed while sipping handcrafted cocktails on the rooftop pool terrace.

The employees are very rude. I was asked at least 3 times on different occasions if I was staying at the hotel when the didnt ask the caucasian or asian couple ahead of me. My service light was on for 2 days and no one came.

It was such a great experience coming to this hidden gem in Brooklyn, this is definitely now my favorite hotel in NYC. Everything was amazing. The service at the front desk, the pool and the Osprey was exceptional, especially from Richard and Laura who took great care of us.

I have never written a bad/good review for anything in my life but I had to for this one. I wanted to love my stay here so bad because I’ve stayed at the South Beach and West Hollywood locations and they have always been amazing. However, this stay was a complete disaster. I understand that COVID has called for new protocols but the team here needs to be TRANSPARENT about the hotel situation. Like many others in the reviews, I called many times before my stay to make sure that it was even worth taking the staycation here. The staff on the phone never mentioned the pool reservation situation even though I asked about it on 4 different phone calls (with different employees). Pool: The absolute worst part of the trip. We had to wake up at 6:30am to get a reservation for the pool..not sure who wants to wake up at 6:30am on a staycation, not me. People were so fed up and tired that we even saw this young lady and young man start arguing at 6:40am because one of them tried cutting the line.. lol. The two hosts at the pool were super nice and helpful however one of the hostesses was not so nice. Rooftop: the Harriets hosts were super nice and helpful. Our waitress however (who also works as a waitress on the pool area) was so extremely rude to my boyfriend and I on different occasions. At one point, one of the guy pool hosts overheard and came over to apologize for her attitude..Another employee apologizing for their coworkers attitude to a guest...!! Crazy. Room: We loved our room. We had a pretty nice view. No slippers or robs but I just called to get them sent up. No biggie. The sleeping portion however was horrible. I could hear the mechanics of the elevators ALL night long and going to sleep after waking up at 6:30am for the pool reservation, yeah that didn’t happen because I could hear everyone going up and down the elevators (our room was behind the elevator bank). I went to the front desk to ask for a new room around 9am since I couldn’t sleep. They managed to get us into a new quiet room after 1.5 hours. So didn’t sleep that day. The new room was also a down grade. No view at all. Not sure what hotel downgrades their guests after a complain but ok moving on. Charges: Be VERY careful with the charges on your credit cards. I was overcharged around $800 and the only reason I was refunded was because I triple check my credit card accounts. I called and spoke to one of the managers asking her to look into the extra charge for me. 1) she was SO rude on the phone 2) she told me that it was a deposit that would be put back into my account. Wrong. I called back and spoke to Alex from finance. Omg finally someone helpful!! He notified me that they had accidentally charged me $800 extra for the room change but that he would refund it asap. Which he did. Overall, the hotel is beautiful and views are amazing. I’m all about sustainability so I will keep staying at the SB and WH locations but it would take a lot for me to come back here. We were credited $75 for everything that went on during our stay but then we were overcharged $800 so not sure how to feel about that. I can honestly say that if the staff members/managers weren’t so unwelcoming and rude, I wouldn’t have written this review. I understand the COVID situation but a welcoming staff presence is so important right now! Dedicate time to build positive moral throughout your staff because the negative energy is being cast onto your guests’ hotel experience. Read less

Beautiful hotel right in the midst of Dumbo. It was nothing short of amazing—great views, delicious food and drinks at the on-site restaurants, and nice rooftop pool. Richard and Juan were extremely accommodating and helpful with everything throughout our stay. Definitely will be rejoining soon!

As beautiful as the decor and view is here, I wouldn’t advise staying. This hotel was suggested to us by a family friend who stayed at the Central Park location, we thought it’d be nice but ‘WHAT IN THE GHETTO’ 😂😂😂. There seems to be a big communication issue here and it’s so bad I have to laugh, because they just flat out ruined my wedding day. Prior to staying here myself and my fiancé emailed at least 4 different ppl, totaling to approximately 6/7 emails and over 10 calls to make sure we weren’t missing anything. Emails were in regards to our reservation and having our(just the 2 of us) photos taken on the roof because our wedding was in close proximity. Just getting the correct email address was an issue. We emailed Lopez, Vanessa, Hans, Stewart etc. And to the best of my knowledge these were managers. Now I received a reply from Vanessa stating we can do photographs on the roof as long as we’re guests on the property(or so I thought) CHECK IN (Day before wedding) We asked the front desk about photography on the roof, this person suggested all we needed to do was ‘register’ on the app. So we downloaded the app but of course there was no place to ‘register’. We went back to the front desk- different employee. She said we don’t have to register but like Vanessa’s(manager) email said if we wanted to take photos thats fine but we can also make a reservation to reserve the seating area for more space, great! I can relax. AROUND 12 MIDNIGHT-1AM(night before wedding) Could barely sleep because I could here loud screams from a man about 2 rooms down. He seems to hate the woman there and apparently was going to throw something, maybe him or her or an item over the balcony 🤷‍♀️. NEXT MORNING (wedding day) We had some final ironing to do on an item we wanted to make sure was well pressed and I asked for the full size ironing board. I had to call twice for the board totallioto approximately 45 mins- 1 hour. I was so close to running to housekeeping myself AITA? Because I would’ve w not for it myself had I known it was taking this long. AFTERNOON PHOTOS ON THE ROOF AND ON PROPERTY So we started to the roof, started taking a few photos. Moving around a bit, TABLES WERE RESERVED BUT MANY EMPTY. So enough space was available to move around. We weren’t moving tables to take photos or causing any problems. Not close to anyone (it’s on the roof outside) so I thought we were fine. Then an employee comes up to us saying they didn’t know we were going to take photos on the roof etc(here comes the feeling of being unwelcomed). I told him I spoke to Vanessa and told him what she said. Thinking he’d try to get her on the phone to find out what’s happening 🥴 nope. He comes back to us to say the’Operating manager’ is right there and he wasn’t aware of that and there is a HEFTY FEE to do photos on the roof etc 😂😂😂😂???!. I wasn’t about to argue so I just left the view on the FREE BOARDWALK/pier was way better. ONE- IF YOU’RE THE OPERATING MANAGER AND YOU HAVE AN ISSUE PLEASE ADDRESS ME, I don’t bite. The back and forth is rather rude TWO- TOLD YOU I SPOKE TO VANESSA. DO YOU NOT TALK TO EACH OTHER?? Get Vanessa on the phone and find out instead of harassing me THREE- IN TOTAL WE PAID $1700+ to stay here I get it, it was discounted but I’d PAY the additional HEFTY FEE just to take photos, I have no problem with that. This is why I was sending all the emails trying to get information. FOUR- COMMUNICATION seems to be A TOP DOWN ISSUE. I GET IT COVID IS FORCING EVERYONE TO ADJUST BUT WHY CANT THE INFORMATION GET TO EVERYONE ACCURATELY AND TIMELY?? FIVE- OUTSIDE OF BEING EMBARRASSED 😩 AND UNABLE TO FINISH THE SHOOT, the decor wasn’t too bad, at this point it’s the only thing going for the hotel. Cheers 🥂 Read less
