The hotel

True to its name, Aloft Brooklyn offers loft-size bedrooms packed to the rafters with state-of-the-art amenities. Their signature bed is extremely comfortable and the city views will delight. The atmosphere is decidedly hip here, and amenities include a fitness centre (although pounding the streets of New York is just as good a work-out). No matter what time of the day hunger strikes, re:Fuel can oblige, serving snacks and drinks 24-hours a day. There's easy access into Manhattan, or if you fancy sticking by your base, explore all that Brooklyn has to offer — from vintage flea markets and the ever-growing foodie scene to the relaxing Prospect Park and Brooklyn Botanic Garden.

Where is it

Just off Fulton Street, steps from the Metro Tech and close to the beach. Other attractions within walking distance include the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Prospect Park and Brooklyn Botanic Gardens. Transfer time from John F. Kennedy International Airport: 40 minutes.

All with air-conditioning, 42” LCD TV with pay-per-view films, complimentary bottled water, telephone, iPod docking station, tea/coffee maker, safe, hairdryer and iron and board. Standard Rooms are 285–315 sq ft and have 1 king-size bed or 2 double beds, sleeping maximum 4 adults or 2 adults and 2 children.

King Suites are 551 st ft and have a spacious living area, with 1 king-size bed and sofa bed, sleeping maximum 4 adults or 2 adults and 2 children.

re:Fuel by Aloft (open 24-hours, serving grab-and-go drinks and snacks). Fitness centre. Laundry/dry-cleaning service. Concierge. Complimentary WiFi. Valet parking $55 plus tax, per day (payable locally, subject to change).

I’ve stayed at the Aloft in Harlem, so familiar with the brand. Surprised it’s under Bonvoy Marriott so I get my points. Well lit room and one of the most comfortable king beds ever. Linen was crisp and fresh. Housekeeping stopped by on arrival to make sure everything was good. We needed ice (pre packed bags in the lobby) so she had someone come up quickly. Nice size fridge was a great addition. Coffee/tea station set up was a great way to start the morning. Breakfast items for sale in the lobby. They also has a lobby bar, fitness center and a pool table. Hotel is in the heart of Brooklyn so there are plenty of places to eat and drink in the area. Subway is one block away. Yep…we’ll be back. We had a great stay at the Aloft Brooklyn hotel. The location was excellent, being just a 2 minute walk from Downtown Brooklyn High St. with various shops and restaurants. The subway was also a 2 minute walk with easy access to and from Manhattan. Our room was very clean and modern with great city views. The hotel has a rooftop, but we were told this is only open after 6pm (not including Mondays). Staff were very helpful and friendly, providing directions when needed. Would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the city! Read less

Knowing our cross-country flight was delayed, we called ahead to let them know we’d be arriving late and were assured it would be no problem. Finally roll in after midnight and guess what? No room! Grrrrrr!

I would give this place four stars as it check off most boxes when going on vacation for a short time. I booked three days and the hotel was very convenient to food, shopping and subways to get into the city to explore! The room was small, clean and the HOUSEKEEPING staff are A+++, very respectful , fast to respond to requests and kind! Tip them, they deserve it. The front desk allowed me to check in one hour early (thank you! ) and they were nice! The hotel is in the middle of a “refreshing “ and there is shotty paint work in the rooms but the most important part was the cleanliness and comfort of the bed! There were times where there was a stench of smoke in my room (1904) from the adjoining room from time to time, but the air conditioning helped drown the smell. Oh and the other thing, the AC , only thing you can do is turn it on or off! Read less
