Image of the Tripadvisor rating The hotel is a joke and still might pass a health inspection, but I suppose I’m a joke too for booking it.

The hotel is under renovation, which is understandable and means somewhat lowered expectations for the physical building itself. However, this hotel still managed to disappoint in a way that I can only describe as impressive. At check-in, I provided my Bonvoy number and asked about the possibility of a room upgrade since it’s part of my elite benefits. I was moved from a high-floor king room on the 21st floor to an ADA accessible king room on the 6th floor — according to reception, this is a bigger room and so constitutes an upgrade, plus the lower floors were “recently renovated” so would be better overall. Good looking out, right? The joke was fully on me as I got out of the elevator. On the 6th floor, all the baseboards are missing in the hallways, revealing the most disturbingly consistent pattern of peeling paint I’ve ever seen in a hotel outside of the former Soviet Union. The room itself wasn’t much better. I was greeted by harsh fluorescent lighting, loose floor laminate, a couch that has definitely seen better days (circa 2010), peeling paint on the floor of the shower, a partially missing soap dispenser, and a massive gap in the baseboard near the bathroom that has some unknown combination of dust, dirt, and cursed energy emanating from it. I might check with the front desk again to see if I can move rooms but frankly, after being lied to about the state of renovations and being duped into the “room upgrade,” I feel like by asking I would just end up “upgraded” to a mop closet or a laundry room. Plus, it’s unclear if the receptionist will ever look up from his phone to acknowledge my existence. It’s not all bad, though, so this place does warrant more than 1 star! The Jay St-Metrotech subway station is right around the corner so you can easily spend literally as much time as humanly possible away from the property. Downtown Brooklyn is also nice, if you need to escape the Aloft and go somewhere pleasant and clearly suitable for human occupancy there’s plenty of shops and restaurants in the area. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating No internet, Lack of quality

May 6, 2022 Love2sk8 Hinsdale, Illinois

This hotel is conveniently located but has none of the usual other amenities. The internet kept cutting out. The carpeting in the room was visibly soiled and the AC unit was unusually loud. This location was not up to the usual standards of an Aloft property. Would not recommend.

Don't. Stay. Here. I'd give zero stars except for the kind front desk staff who tried to find missing room items. I don't know hotel is under construction. Would have expected room to be okay. It is stained, no internet, missing broken. We were here for family funeral so had no options to move hotels.

The Aloft property I'm Brooklyn is the second worst hotel I've stayed at in the US. It's basically a derelict building that's still being used - illegally? - during renovation. It took four rooms to find one that I could stay in. The first had a thermostat hanging off the wall by its wires and a heater on high that wouldn't turn off. The second… Read more
The Aloft property I'm Brooklyn is the second worst hotel I've stayed at in the US. It's basically a derelict building that's still being used - illegally? - during renovation. It took four rooms to find one that I could stay in. The first had a thermostat hanging off the wall by its wires and a heater on high that wouldn't turn off. The second was half renovated and had no shades/curtains to block the windows. The third had open windows that couldn't close and were letting in the rain. The fourth had a working heater, but half the lightbulbs we're burned out; there was no soap; the TV didn't work; the mattress was ripped; and there were only two pillows on the bed. There were no food services in the hotel whatsoever; not even a water faucet in the lobby. For this I paid $312/night. I would have walked out after the last room and found a decent hotel, if I hadn't been afraid of being billed for the whole stay. This hotel was horrific and an embarrassment to Marriott. It's not fit for habitation and should be closed until renovation is finished. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating SO DIRTY and GROSS -- Don't stay here.

Do not stay here -- it is not worthy of the Marriott name. It's SO DIRTY and gross. (1) There is NO GYM, contrary to what the Marriott site says. (2) Lobby has pallets of construction materials and was dirty. (3) Televisions do not work -- only a certain number of channels (CSPAN, etc.) actually work. (5) Poor evening service at front desk -- I tried to change rooms but front desk did not know how to move me. Read less
