I would highly recommend staying here if you want to be within walking distance of just about everything. Bonus is the rooftop terrance with amazing views of the Empire State Bldg!

Front desk staff was excellent.

Front desk staff was excellent. Housekeeping left our bedroom door ajar. Luckily we don’t think anything was stolen but that was alarming. A few items in the room broken or not working properly.

Free breakfast, clean rooms, good beds, and excellent location. We loved our stay which was 4nights/5days. Also, the neighborhood had great options for dinner, bars, and markets.
The Good, The Bad and The MEH

My wife and I planned a 3-day trip to NYC for her birthday and decided to stay at the Hyatt House in Chelsea due to the location. While we had a nice trip, the hotel experience was average at best.
First the good - The location is great! Convenient to a lot of things, near two subway stops, and the Fairway market on 26th street. The hotel staff was (mostly) friendly. Not overly welcome or helpful but decent. The hotel has great views from the upper floors. The bed was comfortable. Hot water worked! And the room was clean and since we had a suite, it was nice to have a kitchenette.
The Bad - When we got to our room and unloaded our clothes into the pressboard "dresser" located in the room, the dresser collapsed and fell on my wife, injuring her leg. Apparently it wasn't properly anchored to the wall. Then we discovered the shower was not working properly and the sink in the bathroom had no drain plug and my wife lost an item down the drain. Also the microwave was initially not working properly (maintenance fixed it).
The MEH: the breakfast left a lot to be desired. If you've been to a Holiday Inn Express it was a step above that but more comparable to a Hampton Inn breakfast, definitely not as good as a Hilton Garden Inn breakfast. But it was included in the price so that was good. The fitness room was super sparse - no cable machine, just a few free weights (some were missing) and some cardio machines.
Overall we would probably stay there again but again, I have had better experiences for a similar or cheaper price point.

Ideal location with stunning rooftop views
Jul 1, 2024jami798Lake Oswego, Oregon
This is our favorite home-away-from-home in NYC. Ideal, central location with a beautiful rooftop view of the Empire State Building and 6th Ave. Clean rooms, with a kitchen/fridge that allows us to keep snacks on hand as we explore the city.
