The hotel

Conrad New York Downtown is a statement hotel in a stunning location, overlooking the Hudson River from its spot in Lower Manhattan’s Battery Park City. As you step into its sky-scraping 15 storey lobby, it’s ready to wow: there’s the instant impact of its bold design; the multi-storey art installation by Sol LeWitt; the 24 hour fitness hub; and the sophisticated dining of ATRIO. But it does save some pleasures for higher floors. As you scale this all-suite hotel’s grand stairways, you reach more than 2,000 works of gallery worthy art; luxurious 2 room suites for all guests; and, the cherry on the top, a seasonal rooftop deck where small plates, ‘Prosecco & Ice Pop’ cocktails, and Statue of Liberty and New York Harbor views all vie for top billing.

This hotel is amazing! The Loopy Doopy design is my favorite. I love how it is on the walls everywhere, on your room keys, and on their seasonal rooftop bar. The suites are very luxurious, clean, and modern. I was lucky to be upgraded by the wonderful staff to a corner suite with a view of the Statue of Liberty. I want to thank Elliot Bencevi, Dorris Fong (She moved to Conrad Fort Lauderdale), Richard Onna Jr., and Michael Remo. Overall this is a wonderfully hotel and I recommend. Read less

We were looking forward to our stay here and left feeling a little meh. Our breakfast in particular costing more than a hundred dollars was nowhere near acceptable. Rooms are ok but there are far better. The whole place is massive and a little eerie if truth be told. We thought that we have experienced far better service at other establishments.… Read more

My father booked this as a treat for our family and we all felt a little sorry for him as he was very disappointed. Read less

I recently stayed at the Conrad for 3 nights. After checking out I took a look at the bill that was emailed to me and discovered that I had been overcharged by more than $800. I did not think it was necessarily a big deal. That changed when it took 3 emails over a period of 7 days to get a response from the hotel. That is not 5 star service. I was also not impressed with the fact that the fridge in the room says you will be charged $25 if you move anything. In other words, don't even think about putting your own drink in that fridge. Again, not what you would expect in a 5 star hotel. Especially when the ice bucket that they give you is literally barely big enough to hold one bottle. Thus, they are trying to force you to pay $7 for a can of coke. Not good to be nickel and dimed at a hotel where the rates are $500 - 700 a night. If you're looking for a pleasant and cheap way to get to midtown, check out the NYC Ferry. It is located just steps from the front door of the hotel and costs just $4. It drops you off at W. 39th street (even though the name of the stop is Pier 79). The relevant route (when booking online) is the St. George line. Read less
