203 guestrooms across 27 floors, all featuring an eclectic art collection and vintage design details, along with air conditioning, safe, hairdryer, handheld steamer, organic bath products, TV. and complimentary WiFi access.Cozy Rooms are smaller in size with one queen-size bed sleeping maximum 2 people. 


Two twin beds or two queen-size beds can be requested at an extra cost

Spacious rooms are larger in size with views of Hudson Yards or the Theatre District, with either 1 king-size bed, 1 queen-size bed, or 2 double beds, sleeping maximum 4 adults. 

2nd Floor Lounge (open for breakfast daily, and features a full cocktail bar open Thursday – Saturday evenings). Rosevale Kitchen and Cocktail Room (elevated American dining – opening soon). Starchild (rooftop lounge serving drinks and light bites – opening soon). 

TMPL Health Club* with gym, salt water pool, steam room and sauna located just one block north of the hotel.

If you are a fan of anything Broadway, you should absolutely stay here. If you are a fan of feeling luxurious at every turn, you’re going to love the room, the rooftop bar, the service, and the location. I cannot wait to be back in New York so I can stay here again :)

First it won’t let you do half stars - I’d give Civilian 4.5 stars. I absolutely enjoyed my stay. The staff was great and friendly. The guy who CHS ked me out went above and beyond helping me when there was the wrong credit card on file. My room was clean and perfect for my stay overall. It’s definitely cozy. It was perfect for my needs as a solo traveler. Truly I plan to stay there again next year for my work conference. My small complaints: 1. The elevators. Especially on Friday and Saturday night when the rooftop bar is hopping. They close off one of the elevators just for the rooftop which sucks when you are a guest just wanting to get to your room after a long day/night. 2. Ice Machines: since there isn’t a fridge in your room, it would be nice for some ice machines to be available. You can ask for it to be delivered to your room and that’s awesome, but it would be nice to have a few you could get to yourself. Maybe even just one on the public bathroom level? You can grab it before going up to your room. Really those are my only two small complaints and they aren’t that big of a deal. After submitting my survey to the hotel, they reached out to me and were so sweet. They understand the elevator issue and are trying to figure it out. I just thought it was great that someone read what I wrote and actually responded. I also received text messages from the front desk during my stay periodically to check on me. Their service really is great! One small thing - I read a lot of reviews before I stayed and people complain about the shower being open and the floors getting wet. I didn’t have a problem with this because it’s take two seconds how to figure out angling yourself to prevent that from happening and it’s not a big deal at all. I think this place is great. Just have some patience when leaving and coming back for the elevators esp on the weekend. Read less

The staff were so friendly and helpful. Checking in and out was very easy too, we were also able to leave our luggage on the last day so that we could make the most of it. We had the cosy rooms which whilst small were as we expected, very nicely decorated and clean. The hotel is very well located from Broadway and Times Square.

Tastefully decorated rooms, cosy and intimite place to spend a solo or a family time. This hotel has also a very good location near a lot of attractions that can be done by foot or metro. The staff is friendly and concerned about the well-being of customers.

So i traveled to NYC with my 80 yr old and stayed at The Civilian. Dad got sick some where in transit, first day, and had to (voluntarily) stay in the room for 3days. Civilian staff was so accomodating and attentive to his every request. We are extremely thankful to say the least! 🙌🏼🙏
