We didn’t ask she offered. She was friendly and helpful and made sure we had all the information for our stay. Great location, didn’t feel unsafe at all and found everywhere accessible. Room cleaned daily and was clean and tidy when we arrived. The 2 guys who help with luggage were brilliant. Not just with the luggage but with helping with taxis etc. The lifts were no where near as bad as we were expecting. Most we waited were a couple of minutes. Cons: There is little storage space and two of us with two suitcases really struggled. Not just to hang clothes up but store the cases. Although the room was clean and tidy, it look tired and worn. If we ever came back to New York I’m sure we would stop again. Read less

I must be honest, I was a little wary of the area when we first arrived, but actually I quite enjoyed the many places to eat or grab bits to take back to the hotel very close by. Every member of staff I spoke to, were brilliant, friendly and helpful. Although the rooms aren’t huge, they are certainly big enough, especially as you are just there to sleep. They are spotlessly clean, with good pillows and lovely crisp bedding. My only comment I would make, is the towels are not bath sheet size, maybe a bathrobe would have been handy. Also no fridge in the room, so no where to keep milk for a cuppa, but also no where to keep huge slices of cheesecake! There are 4 lifts, yes they seem to take a while to arrive, but nothing to moan about, and very fast once you’re in them. They are very hot though. The only thing I would complain about, is the very worn seating outside the main doors, this really does need to be fixed, especially as this is the first thing you see when you arrive. The hotel is in a good location, easy access to most of the main places you’d want to visit. Great staff, no hotel tax, and good value for money. We were on the 22nd floor and had the most amazing view, which was fantastic! Well done to every one who works there, you are a credit to the company! Read less

This is a fabulous hotel which I booked as part of a British Airways package deal. As a solo female traveller the most important thing here is that I felt safe in this hotel which is always a given. I plan to come back to NYC to carry on ticking off my to-do list and I would stay here again in a heartbeat. I’ve read the negative reviews and they do not reflect my experiences. I researched in advance so already know about the deposit that would be taken on check in (I’m not sure why so many other people act so surprised by this - that’s a you problem.) The hotel is in such a fantastic location, within walking distance of subway stations which cover all the lines you’re going to need to get around the city. From here I explored Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx and Harlem with ease. You can’t put a price on that sort of convenience! There are regular taxis passing by, a valet service for drivers out front, and the concierge was always read to help hail an Uber or whatever you might need. Nothing was too much trouble. This hotel is also within walking distance of Times Square and Broadway, and there are too many food establishments within spitting distance to count. This includes Corvid coffee next door which served amazing iced tea and chocolate chip cookies to die for, and 2 Bros Pizza 120 yards away where you can get a slice of cheese and tomato pizza for $1.50 (which I may have eaten several of because o.m.g.). You know it’s good when locals are queued out the door. Join the queue, you won’t regret it. The hotel itself is large and busy so there is some wear and tear, but this isn’t a 5-star, expensive, high-end hotel so it’s important, I think, to set your expectations. This is a busy hotel in midtown Manhattan and for that I think it’s a fantastic venue. My room was clean and comfortable with fresh linen daily. I stayed on floor 4 so I didn’t experience the issues others had with the elevators except for on Friday morning during the check out rush, which happens everywhere. I’d recommend requesting a lower level floor if you want to get in and out of the building quickly. My room had air-con which was a lifesaver in the June heat, the bathroom had lovely shampoo and conditioner and body lotion and soap which I used. Plenty of towels and flannels, too, stocked up each day. The shower had three power settings and was fantastic - it would have been lovely to have a bathtub to soak in but hey, as I keep saying, this is midtown Manhattan! For the location and price I was happy to go without! There was a good size wardrobe with hangers, and built in shelving and drawers, there was also an ironing board and iron in the room (which was an unexpected bonus) and the hotel offer laundry service. The TV was a good size and you are able to watch Betflix, Tumi, YouTube and a host of other entertainment platforms on it. As well as regular television. After a day exploring the city, sitting back with a slice (or two) of 2 Bros pizza and watching a Netflix doc was sometimes a blessing before heading out for the evening. Most importantly ,as a solo female traveller visiting the USA for the first time ever I felt safe and secure. The door had a dead bolt and a security plate that you flip out to stop the door being fully opened. There were no issues with people trying to get in the room (I’ve had this happen several times in other hotels). There is CCTV throughout and the staff were always on hand to help if needed. There is also a phone in the room that you can reach reception on (you can order room service via this phone line too, though I didn’t so can’t review the food.) All in all, this hotel made a for an excellent base for my first ever solo trip to NYC. The staff were so friendly, professional and helpful, offering peace of mind. The security of the hotel makes this a good choice for solo travellers and this paired with the excellent location and thoughtful facilities means I will certainly be back for my next visit to the city that never sleeps (unless it’s in this hotel because the beds are so comfy.) Image of the Tripadvisor rating Decent stay for the price

Decent stay for the price. The rooms are quite small and the cleanliness is average. Location is quite good, near the times square.
