Excellent location right across the street from the new Moynihan Train Hall where we can catch the A (to JFK), C, E, J subway, NJ Transit (from EWR), Amtrak. Walking distance to 2 big grocery stores (H-Mart and Whole Foods), tourist sights like the Empire State Building, Times Square, MSG, K-Town, Hudson Yards, High Line, and the Vessel. Magnolia Bakery is also across the street along with lots of restaurants. Building is a high rise so higher floors have great views of the Millennium Tower and MSG/Penn Station if you request it. Fairfield Inn quality so it’s not luxurious but comfortable with free breakfast. Rooftop bar is great too (bar was closed but we could visit the rooftop) and there’s always water and fruit in the lobby. Service was friendly and they readily offered rooms with a view if available. As far as Covid - they don’t really provide any wipes in public areas and vaccinated guests can go without masks everywhere. Elevators can get crowded but with 3 elevators - we did not have to wait too long. Building is narrow so no long walks and everything looked very new. Windows open — even on the high floors so it’s great if you do want fresh air. The one thing that we missed were luggage racks - there are none in the rooms so you have to put your bags on the window sill or on the ground. All in all, this Fairfield Inn checks almost all the boxes. Read less

My wife and I stayed 5 nights at the Fairfield Inn in midtown Manhattan, and had a very nice stay. As others have said, you simply can't beat the location. My wife and I stayed 5 nights at the Fairfield Inn in midtown Manhattan, and had a very nice stay. As others have said, you simply can't beat the location. Madison Square Garden is about 500 yards from the front door, and Penn Station/Amtrak is right across the street, about 100 feet away. There is a subway station less than 150 feet away, that serves the A, C and E lines to downtown, and across the street is a subway for uptown trains. You can buy a Metro Card for multiple rides, can also be used on city buses. 34 th Street is a bustling, vibrant area, the hotel is a block's walk from Herald Square and Times Square. There are a variety of fast food restaurants in the area, plus some nice sit-down restaurants. We found a great Italian place, as well as a nice Irish pub. The newly developed Hudson Yards is also within walking distance. The Empire State Building is also within walking distance, or a short cab ride. A CVS Pharmacy is around the corner. The hotel itself is fine. We had a room on the 18 th floor, with a king bed and a fantastic view of lower Manhattan, including the new World Trade Center Tower. We visited during a cross-over time. They were just beginning to reintroduce a hot breakfast, which was available for 2 of our 5 day stay. The other 3 days the hotel put out in the lobby area a variety of muffins, pastries, apples, bananas, cold cereal, milk, yoghurt, and coffee. Small cartons of orange juice were indeed often frozen, as others have noted. Staff were excellent about replenishing the buffet, and if it got crowded in the lobby area, you could take the breakfast back to your room. The hot breakfast, set out in a dedicated dining area off the lobby, was set to resume on or about 9/29. Our sampling of it indicated it was fine: scrambled eggs, tasty breakfast sausage, bagels, toast, yoghurt, fruit, coffee, etc. COVID required the hotel to go to the bag breakfasts up until now. A few reviews were critical of the cleanliness of the hotel or the attitude of staff. We had no issues with either. You must request housekeeping, as it is not scheduled each and every day. Check in and check out went fine. Staff were happy to store our bags on check out day, while we did some last minute sightseeing. CONS: we realized on check in day that we had no bath towels. A call to the front desk was answered promptly and within 10 minutes we had as many as we needed. Two days later our room was cleaned, but again, no bath towels were left. We reported this to the desk and staff seemed concerned and promised to look into it. However, something as basic as missing bath towels in guest rooms should never happen. For it to happen twice, means a one to one discussion with housekeeping is in order! Kudos to Sam at the front desk, as well as Ernesto. Both were helpful when needed. Kitchen staff were friendly and helpful, as well. This is not the Waldorf Astoria, but is a perfectly fine hotel, ideally located. Once the roof top area is again opened, and a hot breakfast is again standard, the Fairfield Inn will be even more acceptable. We liked the area, and although in our mid 70's, felt totally comfortable walking about at night. We would definitely return, and would gladly recommend his hotel to family and friends. Read less

This hotel is in an excellent location across the street from Penn Station (Moynihan Train Hall) and half a block from the A/C/E subway station. Rooms in the back are exceedingly quiet but with limited view unless on a high floor. Staff were friendly and always helpful.

Some of the details given for the hotel on their website were untrue. They do not have a hot, buffet breakfast!! All they put out is fruit bowls, yogurt, and muffins. No decaf coffee. Hard to walk around with the two double beds. They change the sheets, make beds, every 2-3 days. A disappointment. Read less

This was supposed to be a memorable stay in as we were celebrating our 25 anniversary it became a destination to avoid as it was for the Fairfield inn in New York City and a nightmare. We were supposed to have a fridge and laudromat in the room and hotel. We had to carry our laundry two blocks away. We are over 50 years of age and traveled the world. At least with motels such ad motel 6 and 8 you get what you pay for. Such a place should be shut down Bonvoy and Marriott is a big Hoax Sorry for this review but it is well deserved Read less
