The hotel

Irish charm a-plenty is what you get at the Fitzpatrick Manhattan. You don’t have to come from the emerald isle, however, to enjoy the airy rooms, personal touches and Irish food. The Fitz is your very own place to enjoy some pub-grub, Ireland-style, and a pint of that famous black stuff. Just around the corner from Bloomingdales, Central Park on the doorstep, and St Patrick’s Cathedral nearby — it’s safe to say you’ll be in a fine location to get exploring in a New York minute.

We thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay and wished it could have been for longer. The staff were really helpful and friendly and made us feel very welcome and we were especially pleased that our rooms were upgraded, which was a fantastic bonus! The rooms were really spacious and very comfortable, a home away from home. This was our second time staying, but the first for our three children and we would all love to come back. The bar food was great, as were the breakfasts, especially the full Irish. When we asked for thinner pillows, this was quickly accommodated. The location was so convenient for walking around New York. It felt like a very safe hotel, we accidentally left cash lying in the room and it was neatly left out for us. We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. Read less

We are just back from a stay in the Fitzpatrick Hotel Manhattan and it was wonderful. We went to New York for our daughters 18th Birthday and we booked a one bedroom suite. Unknown to us my sister phoned the hotel to inform them of our reason for our holiday. When we got to the hotel check in was seamless with the 2 lovely lads on reception. When we went to our room we had been given the Presidential Suite which was beautiful, the staff had left a lovely fruit platter, wine and a birthday card for our daughter. It was so special, thank you. The location is great, the food in the restaurant was really good, the Hotel is spotless and the beds and pillows were so comfortable. However the staff of this hotel are the hotels greatest asset. Every member of staff that we encountered were friendly, attentive, courteous and helpful. I could not praise them enough. Chris the general manager is a gentleman and was very attentive to his guests. Gretta their trainee manager is a true lady and would give the impression that she is longer in position then she actually is, as she is so good at her job. She even ordered an Uber for us when their was a problem with our App. On check out the hotel kept out luggage for us to further explore the city before we had to leave, and when we returned to collect it we ate in the restaurant and were treated so well by all the staff. We could not fault this hotel. Our stay coincided with the UN Summit with dignitaries and secret service agents in the hotel but this did not phase the staff at all. All involved in the running of this Hotel should be very proud of the service that they provide. We will be back. Read less

Great location, convenient to restaurants and shops. Staff was very attentive and the room size was nice by New York standards. The hotel was well maintained and quiet. They have a nice bar and restaurant so you can relax after shopping all day.

I have stayed at this hotel in the past and thought I would give it a try on this visit to NYC. I prefer city hotels that do not charge “resort” fee and know that the Fitzpatrick advertises it does not. I booked through a third-party site and carefully looked to see that all taxes, fees and resort fees were included in the price. I checked into the hotel, were advised our rate did not include breakfast but there was an onsite restaurant. There was no mention of a resort fee. The category we booked was a Jr. Suite, with a separate living room and bedroom. The sofa had a nasty stain on it and the room was tired. I was disappointed with the quality of room and furnishing. On the positive side the hotel has an excellent location and was very quiet. We looked out onto a wall so there was zero view but no street noise. On checkout I thought the bill would be nil as we prepaid everything. Notwithstanding paying in full in advance there was a $66 “resort fee”. I explained our rate was all inclusive. The receptionist became abrupt stating that when you book through a third-party site the hotel charges $22/night for a wifi and use of an offsite gym (no mention of either on check in). The manager came over and stated I was being charged this amount whether I agreed or not as they had my credit card on file. I tried to reason with him but he to became upset and said “too bad”. I had just spent $2,000 (Canadian) for three nights at this hotel and I was shocked by the lack of customer care. For a $66 charge this hotel was willing to let a repeat guest leave upset. At that point the $66 charge did not matter. In my respectful opinion the front desk staff and management need to be trained in customer support. I am the guest and expect to be treated like one. No well managed caring hotel should let a paying customer walk out of their premises upset and disappointed. Read less
