The area is very busy being close to Times Square and does have some loiterers but no problems. We did not experience any problems with the elevators, except once over the three days. Read less

My first trip to New York from London and Rocky and the team put on a great show!! Very friendly bunch! Stayed in room 1607. On the quieter side of the hotel. Ok the view wasn't much but who cares because it was SO QUIET!! 16 floors up! But it went higher still. Loved the super fast elevators. Lifts as we call them in the UK. (although you may… Read more
My first trip to New York from London and Rocky and the team put on a great show!! Very friendly bunch! Stayed in room 1607. On the quieter side of the hotel. Ok the view wasn't much but who cares because it was SO QUIET!! 16 floors up! But it went higher still. Loved the super fast elevators. Lifts as we call them in the UK. (although you may need to wait a few minutes to catch them.) The room was always immaculate when I came back from a day out. (Handy tip. If, like me, you want to ease up on the daily sheets and towels change etc, just leave the do not disturb sign on the door and room service will usually by-pass it. I'm not an eco warrior but I don't change my sheets/towels every day at home. Same here. (Every 2 days on a 10 day stay) Rocky and the team were always friendly. I had issue with the person next door, whose tv was a bit loud (the rooms back on to eachother and the tv speakers are behind the tv/against the wall) but I rang down to reception and they sent a person up to deal with it who was training another guy. I had to do same the next night but as they said, we have to report it as there may be someone else in my room after I check out who experiences the same issue with the same guest. The front desk were always saying hi. I had an issue with my luggage not being transferred at Frankfurt to JFK and when it did arrive the front desk were really helpful, but especially Christian who looked after the front main entrance and baggage storage. Real friendly guy. Tipped him well as I left. Ask for him when you stay. Top bloke. The in house bar/restaurant was very nice. Great for breakfasts (no cereals though. Only 'cereal' was porridge with fruit which was a bit bland) but the rest of the food...huge portions. One egg (any style) breakfasts were my favourite. Very friendly team in there. And the evenings were great. A sports bar so you get European football, NFL, MLB. Sit at the bar and watch the game. (I did. Felt like a native New Yorker! Go Yankees!) Near to local subways like Port authority, and very close to Broadway and theatre land. I saw Aladdin and it was so close by! This is the place to stay if you're visiting NY! Do it. I'll be back!! Bravo to Rocky. He got me checked into a quiet room on the backside of the hotel. Room is a perfect size by NYC standards. A clean room is an absolute must and this room was perfect. I check under the bed of every hotel I stay in and I found it spotless. LOVE the in room Keurig coffee maker and the front desk was more than helpful when I asked for… Read more

I got bit by bed bugs 8-10 times on my third and final night here. When I reported it to the hotel in the morning, the front desk and housekeeping managers both came to the front, and seemed to take my claim very seriously. They said they would get pest control to come look at the room immediately, and I should expect the hotel to send me the report within 12-24 hours. I heard nothing for 48 hours, and called multiple times before eventually receiving a call back, from Vitalie Vizitue, the Director of Housekeeping. He said no bed bugs were found, in spite of the fact I had been bit. I reminded him to send me the report. What he then sent me a few minutes later wasn't even a report at all, it was a short letter from the pest control company saying that the room was treated multiple times, and could now be reopened, and said nothing about what they found or didn't find. When I got home that night, I was bit again 4-6 times, and found a live bed bug in my bed, which was scary, because I did not have bed bugs in home prior to my trip! This means it had followed me home from the hotel! I sent photos to Vitalie to show him. Vitalie called me back a couple days later saying they don't think the room had any bed bugs and that maybe I got the bed bug in my home from the airport on my way back. I explained that's impossible, because I had bites at the hotel, before checking out and flying home! He said that maybe the bed bugs came from another hotel, because he claimed to have documentation saying there were no bed bugs were found. I asked him about that documentation, because the letter he sent me definitely did not say no bed bugs were found. He said the documentation he has was the same letter he sent me, which he interprets that as saying nothing was found! This doesn't make sense, and he refused to admit that the letter didn't say no bed bugs were found! I asked for a full refund which he denied, so I told him I'd pursue a full refund through Priceline, and I'd post about my terrible experience online. A few minutes later, I got a call from Glenda Gomez, the General Manager. She apologized for my situation and offered a 50% refund, which I said no to. She then said she doesn't think the bed bugs came from the Holiday Inn, but maybe they came from another hotel on my trip (even though I was bit on my third night at the Holiday Inn and was not bitten at prior hotels). She reiterated the letter said no bed bugs were found, which I found ridiculous. I insisted we read the letter together over the phone, which proved it said nothing about what was found, and in my opinion intentionally ambiguous. Somehow, she still denied the letter said nothing was found! She continued to refuse to accept responsibility, and kept saying maybe only a 50% chance it came from the hotel. The hotel's response was very unsatisfactory and disturbing. That both a director and a GM lied to me about what the letter said in order to avoid responsibility is horrifying, because they were both clearly lying about what the letter said, and there is not a charitable interpretation of the letter that supports their claims. Luckily I haven't been bit again at home after killing the bed bug that followed me, and I hope I don't find any more. If you choose to stay here... BE CAREFUL! Read less

The housekeeping starred as when they realised that my husband was celebrating a special birthday they left two swans made from towels on the bed that day which made us smile 😊 and was appreciated! Would we stay here again definitely! Read less
