The rooms are small but the beds are comfortable and the staff is wonderful. We also had a great experience at the Rum House and Bond 45. I highly recommend trying both places. The location is great. Right next to Time Square, 20 min walk to Empire State Building, and 15 min walk to Central Park.

There are two restaurants in the Edison, although we usually go explore the city and find new restaurants. The staff members are always helpful and easy to work with. The rooms vary in size, but are always clean and well kept up. While everything in NYC is expensive, I think we get the best value for our money with the Edison. Over the years we have tried a couple other hotels near Times Square and nothing compared value wise. It's a great place to stay! Read less

This is an iconic art deco hotel at a prime location and a very busy one. Positives: Location. Literally 10 steps from Time square. Two restaurants and a bar are in the same building. Breakfast discount vouchers are provided (set menu for discounted price but not included in room rate) and breakfast is very good. Nice, comfortable bed, clean bathroom, clean and soft towels, good quality bedding. Old style but nice furniture in the room. Cleanliness ,while not perfect, is acceptable. Good size tv, comfortable to watch from bed. Huge selection of channels including movie channels. Wi-Fi is good quality, good enough for streaming, too. Better than in most nearby restaurants where even google maps would load as Wi-Fi was spotty due to weather. So hotel’s connectivity is reliable. Concierge is kind ( I met 2, it is true for both), helpful and professional. Security by elevators and guests must show their keys to gain access. Should be improved: - heating up to 72F in daytime was a challenge, took hours and still did not reach the set temperature. No blankets are provided only the bedding. Having said that it wasn’t cold, it remained above 68F mostly. Was warmer in the evening. - fan is very old, as loud as a tractor plowing a field, nothing else can be heard while it’s on; - they asked how many people in the room, looked at my passport and decided that I do not count for much ( based on the impolite tone of voice), then gave me a smaller than small sized room at a lower floor overlooking a noisy back alley service area, - room does not resemble to the classic room they post the pictures of online; - bathroom is clean enough but dated As to the restaurants: Friedman’s: - Staff especially Julia and Allison are very nice and capable - Food is of good quality. Everything I tried was excellent. - For some reason they keep seating the hotel guest to the front by the windows where it is colder. But if asked they were willing to sit me elsewhere; Bond45: - had dinner here, ended up impressed by the ambiance and interior and unimpressed with the food. Interpretation of carbonara was a large portion of bland pasta silkily covered in egg mixture but without distinct taste of pecorino/parmesan and only 2,5 cubes of guanciale on top, none in the sauce. Interpretation of sautéed broccoli looked more life leafy greens and was cold. Read less

This hotel exceeded all my expectations! It was clean, comfortable, secure, had a fantastic location (close to so many theaters!) and every staff member I encountered was friendly and helpful. Latoya checked us in around 12:30 a.m. We were tired but she was kind and patient with us. She gave us an envelope with our meal vouchers and she took the time to wriur breakfast options and times they were available because she could clearly tell that our brains were fried! Our room was missing the coffee maker and when we called down to see if we could get one ahead of the morning, they had it to us in 10 minutes! This was a Mother/Daughter trip so two moms and two teens. We booked a Signature 2 Queen Beds room and it was perfect. The bathroom is small but we made it work. There are also plenty of elevators so you aren't waiting forever to get to your room. This is an older hotel but is well cared for and has character. We enjoyed a glass of wine during Wine Hour and if we had stayed longer would have done the walking tour. We enjoyed Friedman's sit down breakfast and Bond 45's Grab and Go breakfasts. I am gluten free so Friedmans was such a treat! We also had dinner there and enjoyed the singing waitstaff. They were all incredibly talented and fun. I highly recommend checking out Gayle's Gypsy Rose. If you want a great hotel near the theaters and Times Square, you should definitely book The Hotel Edison. Read less
