We stayed at a Sky View corner room on the 36th floor. The room was very cozy, clean & the views were just breathtaking. The hotel personnel was very pleasant & accommodating, always willing to help out. We would definitely come back & stay here to enjoy the lovely NYC.

During my stay at Christmas 2019 I was going to the bathroom located in the breakfast area when I was approached by a security person and asked was I a guest at the hotel. After I showed him my key card I went to the front desk and asked why I was stopped. Basically they told me they had a report that a black man had snuck into the hotel so i asked them to tell me a description of the person so I could better understand why I was stopped. They could not provide a description of the person. Thinking it was just a random experience i stayed in the hotel on April 4-5. I was in the business area which is located downstairs in the hotel. I was approached by a security guard who informed me that that area was closed. I explained that I had something I needed to do on the computer and it would be a few minutes. He then proceeded to ask me to prove I was a guess at the hotel, which I did. I went to the front desk and asked them what time the business center closed and they told me it is open 24 hours a day. Furthermore you need a room key to move from floor to floor so I would have to be a guest with a room key. I am a retired disabled veteran who has been to 2 wars for this country. I have a doctorate in education,. I am a retired assistant principal and an active member of the Disabled American Veterans organization. I do not believe I dress like I am homeless so the only thing I can believe is black people have no place at this hotel. l allowed for the hotel to pay for one night of my stay. The first night was on points. I turned down the offer to come back for a free 3 day stay in a grand suite. Veterans and African Americans we deserve better. Stay here at your own risk of being humiliated. Read less

Despite the ultra-friendly welcome and helpful staff throughout the premises, this is a worn, old and dirty place that we will avoid in the future. Stained carpets, dirty walls, dated bathrooms, even the towels looked and felt old. Although these are Covid-19 times, they don’t even have a place to have a coffee as many other hotels in the zone do. The hotel area is also dirty and plenty of beggars, the neighborhood can be scary at night if you’re traveling with kids. On the positive side, stunning skyline views from the 30th floor. We will not return and will think twice before booking IHG properties again. Read less

When you hear InterContinental Hotel, the first thing you’ll say is WOW, 5star property. But my current stay with here (03/10/2021) there’s no wow factor at all. One positive is the service, from bellman to front desk - amazing welcome. But when it comes to the room - not impressed. If you can see below - the chair so old and most of it teared already - that’s not supposed to pass an InterContinental standard. There’s no fridge, they have a full mini bar that isn’t really for families staying with a baby. You have to call for a fridge which they brought and put in a desk where its already small space as it is. Ice bucket and cups - this has to be requested. I’m not sure if this is just one of those covid protocols but its an inconvenience. Read less
