I have stayed at several hotels in NYC but this is the best. The location, comfort, price and of course the staff. I love the bar and the guys behind it really look after you. Special mention to Jose and Alessandro. Can't wait to go back yet again.

This is our third stay at the InterContinental Barclay Hotel. We love it’s style, location and service. This time we booked a room with Club Intercontinental access. Compared with other Club Intercontinental Lounge facilities, this one is on the small side, with services limited when compared to the fantastic Lounges in Medellin, Hong Kong, or London. However, what is in offer is of good quality, and the stand out thing is the service from Paulette and the rest of the team. Always there to welcome you personally, making sure the lounge is well stocked, clean and tidy. Thank you to you all, it was a pleasure to meet you and thanks for great service at Club Intercontinental. David and Mike Read less

However, not so good was the amenity charge and the reception staff were not the most helpful. This felt like a hotel for business clients rather than for tourists. Be prepared to pay an amenity charge of $30 plus taxes per room per night. While this charge can be used for credit for food and drink, the prices are relatively expensive and the hotel bar, the "Gin Parlour", tended to busy and loud in the evening as the hotel seemed to have lots of conferences. We went to the diners nearby for breakfast and also Ess-a bagel which we would recommend. Read less

We stayed here for 4 nights in early March and we found the hotel to be clean and comfortable and the staff to be friendly and helpful. It's located close to Grand Central Terminal and the major sights in Midtown. The hotel gives guests $25 a day discount on food and drink charged to the room but wasn't fully explained upon arrival and so we didn't take full advantage. As with all NYC hotels the food and drink was expensive so we had breakfast every morning in Ashley's Fine Foods across the road from the hotel which was good value for money. Please be aware that the mini bar has censors which means that if an item is removed or moved you will be charged meaning that you can't put your own drinks on the shelves but there is room to put a small bottle or can of your own. Also, the ironing board in our room was broken. We were there to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday and having read other reviews we had hoped for a room upgrade but didn't get one, however the room we had booked was sufficient for our needs. We did receive two small cup cakes on arrival two days before her birthday which was a nice touch albeit less than we would've expected from a 5 star hotel. All in all it was a great hotel and we would stay here again. Read less
