The shower looked a bit dated and the tub was dusty around the edges, but other than thar I loved the room. The bed was very comfortable and the walk in closet was a bonus. They don’t keep coffeemakers in the room, but they will bring it up if you ask, including with actual milk. We didn’t want to get coffee service every day so we used the ice bucket for the milk. We had to refresh the ice about twice a day, but it worked. Destination fee comes with 2 courtesy tickets to the zoo (wish I had known that ahead of time) and a $35 meal credit and I think a laundry credit. Parking is a whopping $95 and we were told the rate is going up…. The hotel staff was very welcoming, especially one of the front door attendants, Luis. He was very respectful, courteous, and very warm. Whenever we came back from an outing, he made us feel like he was welcoming us home. Overall, it was a really nice stay and I’d stay at the Essex House again. Read less

I expected location and the building itself to be wonderful. But service there blew me away! From Jamilla at check-in, to Ramon, to Omar at the restaurant, to guys at the bell desk… everyone treated us like we were guests of honor there. The only other time I had that experience was at Ritz Carlton Cancun. Thank you to the team! What a treat and I can’t wait to be back. Kamilla. Read less

The location is amazing! We stayed for a few nights in a junior suite. Used award points for some. Our room was in the back and was very quiet. The space was large enough for our family. The breakfast that was included was just ok. I’d recommend eating at one of the many restaurants in the neighborhood. The hotel is pricey and I’m not sure… Read more

We were only there for 2 nights for family wedding. No service to the room at all during that time, even though I called for new towels. Towels never showed. Restaurant with limited menu (no soup at all). Not worth the $$$ at all!

When I travel to NY, occasionally the pricing at the Essex House is within company policy. This last time it was. The location is just amazing - right across the street from the park. I was fortunate to stay in a higher floor, which I would recommend because the lower floors can be noisy. Staff was superb, as was the stay. Read less
