On our arrival after a nightmare 20 hr trip. We were met at reception by 2 male receptionists. One didn't raise a smile and the one who gave us our our keys went through the info very quickly. Didn't feel particularly welcomed, more herded through. Felt more of an inconvenience than a guest. We booked the Kixby as the rooms on their site looked spacious and airy. Believe me, they are not. We were upgraded to a king size room. You had just enough space to walk around the bed. The bathroom was tiny and the toilet was set in a recess so small, you couldn't put your elbows out! The whole room was painted in a very dismal blue which brought the room in even more. The windows don't open & we had to keep the blinds shut as we were looking directly into other rooms. It was quite claustrophobic. On the good side, it was very clean and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. Paper cups to drink from rather than cups, which I don't expect at any hotel. If you want a quiet room, make sure you're on a high floor at the back of the building. The corridors are black/grey and very dismal. We were supposed to get 2 complimentary bottles of water a day, which we didn't. We asked a lady on reception who told me that they should be left by the maid. We mentioned this on 3 consecutive days and left a note for the maid.... still no water, although she did take the tip. Gave up in the end and bought water from the 7/11. The adjoining Black Tap served a decent burger. A Chardonnay (which was from a tin), was $16. The Hilton Garden Inn next door looked much nicer and with hindsight, I wish we'd have booked there instead. The hotel is very central. A minute from Maceys and a short walk from Times Square. Subway at the end of the street. My personal opinion..... would I return to New York?... no. Very dirty and everywhere you go smells of cannabis. If I did return, would I come back to the Kixby?... no. Much nicer hotels available. Read less

Nice looking hotel, good sized room especially for New York, shower fab. Great location, right next to Macy's which suited us for the Thanksgiving Parade. Gym very small and not that useful. Not sure if it was just noisy neighbours but the door being slammed reverberated in our room. Read less

We enjoyed our stay at the Kixby. Easy to get to from JFK using the airtrain and subway. Nearest subway is a minute walk. The room was a good size and nice big comfy bed. Very clean and tidy. We were on the 9th floor, so no noise from outside. Definitely recommend. Read less

The bar and restaurant at the back avoid it , it was a massive let down unfriendly staff that are sat talking about how they could attract more costumer's they could clearly see us stood there for 10 minutes I would start by serving the ones that come in first. so we ended up leaving and complained to the hotel.I couldn’t recommend the hotel itself enough.we loved our stay thenk you Kixby hotel x Read less

This is definitely not a luxury hotel. I found it dark and claustrophobic. The pictures I viewed before visiting looked light, spacious and appealing. After check in and parting with a deposit of $250 (refundable) and $114.75 (5 night tax payment) we were given our room key. We were on the 9th floor at the back of the hotel. After check in and parting with a deposit of $250 (refundable) and $114.75 (5 night tax payment) we were given our room key. We were on the 9th floor at the back of the hotel. The room and bathroom were very small. The decor was blue which pulled the room in even smaller. The view over looked more rooms and fans, ducting etc and gave little light. The room had a coffee pod machine, and paper cups were provided. I’m sorry to say the coffee was not nice. We had an air conditioning unit, and we used it daily, the room got so hot, the windows didn’t open, but the a/c was so loud. The noise from outside was also loud, I’d recommend getting earplugs. The bed was comfy! Which we’re grateful for, as my husband got food poisoning from the adjoining eatery and we ended up spending a day and a half in the room. The staff were friendly and helpful. The cleaners did a great job. The hotel is in a great location, but it just wasn’t our thing. Read less
