Lotte New York Palace

Midtown, New York

The hotel

Railroad magnate Henry Villard's 19th-century mansions were combined with a sleek tower to create one of the city's best hotels. It's a place where the staff greet you as if they have known you all their lives, and nothing is too much trouble. The location is one of the best in Manhattan, right in the middle of Midtown, but hidden away in a gated courtyard. There's dining options suited to all at the Lotte New York Palace, from luxury brunch to baked goods, whatever you opt for you'll be in for a treat. Enjoy handmade cocktails in one of Manhattan's most popular bars, Trouble's Trust, or relax in 19th century-style surroundings in Rarities - either make for the perfect post-day-in-the-city tipples.

My family and I (2 adults and 3 children ranging in ages 10-15) just stayed four nights at this hotel. None of us had ever been to NYC and I was overwhelmed with the lodging options. I struggled to find a place close to the “action” that could comfortably accommodate our family of older children. We didn’t want to book a place that would require us to have two rooms. A few options were found but I kept coming back to this one. I will say I’m a bit of a self proclaimed “hotel snob” so I tend to be rather picky. This hotel was located perfectly and as a first time trip to NYC we were so pleased to be so close to everything within walking distance or at least closely located to the subway. I’ve stayed in numerous hotels and this was honestly the cleanest one I’ve visited to date. I had zero concerns in this area and I could tell the housekeeping staff takes pride in their work. On that note, I’ve always stayed at places in which the housekeeping staff could be allusive after times, but the staff here were frequently nearby and very attentive to any needs we had. Each one would greet us and hold conversation each and every time we walked by. The little things do not go unnoticed. Each staff member (front desk, bellman, housekeeping, food service, etc) was professional in every sense of the word and I have zero negative things to say about them. The only thing I would have liked to have seen was more lower priced meal and snack options for younger people (kids and teens) particularly for room service. There was no kid’s menu listed on the room service menu but I also didn’t inquire about it when I called so it may have been available. We only dined in the room one night and while it was rather pricey, everything was absolutely delicious. I’m not one to typically return to a place solely because although I often return to a location, I usually enjoy a bit of variety. However, this will likely be an exception for me when I return to NYC. I’m just not sure the Lotte could be topped! Read less

We had an amazing stay at the Lotte NY Palace hotel, the hotel is beautiful, with friendly staff and clean rooms. We stayed at the Towers Corner Suite with Pantry with connecting bedroom. The sweeping Manhattan skyline from the 45th floor was breathtaking, the suite and bedrooms were spacious and beautifully appointed. But what made our stay extra-special was Clara who was instrumental in making our stay so enjoyable. Our family of ten were in NYC to celebrate my 70th birthday, and even though reservation had noted the special occasion, and I was greeted at check in with birthday well wishes, however, the acknowledgement stopped there. Clara whom we met on the second day of our 6 day stay, noted the special occasion and took the initiative and went above and beyond, attending to our every need. When I mentioned there were no writing pads or pens in the rooms, and I needed more gift bags, she brought them up herself. We were also celebrating my grandson’s 3rd birthday, and she had a customized chocolate cake top made. She brought a teddy bear for him and also a crown and tiara to add to the festivity. She was always in the lobby ready to greet us with a smile and inquire how else she could help. When she saw my granddaughter, she brought another teddy bear just for her! At check out she was ready to send us off with two bottles of water! She is detailed, considerate and warm, though always professional. Thank you Clara! You are why we can't wait to return to the Lotte. Read less

He literally took care of everything we needed and even assisted with an upgrade and moving our clients things to the new room. He made it easy and stress free. The only negative note I would leave for this hotel is that Travel Agents regularly reach out to Sales to coordinate special requests / notes for the VIP clients (especially Entertainment) and it's getting harder and harder to get timely responses from Sales staff. Lot's of missed opportunities. Anyway, client had a great stay thanks to Miles! Read less
