Do you like poor quality food? Enjoy poor communication? Love a room which doesn't get cleaned or a bed unchanged? Then this hotel is the one for you!! Do you like poor quality food? Enjoy poor communication? Love a room which doesn't get cleaned or a bed unchanged? Then this hotel is the one for you!! If you are expecting a Marriott hotel, then you'd be best booking something else, a Hilton maybe as this particular Marriott is purely a Marriott by name alone. Having stayed for 8 nights, I might have actually found myself questioning my choice of Marriott as my go-to hotel chain of choice. While I understand 'covid' gets used frequently when covering up poor service, and it was in this case as well, some of the service standards found at this hotel can't be entirely due to covid, some of it is just poor service overall. Starting with food -it's typically understaffed restaurants that bring food out in a 'wagamama' style (not by intention, just the poor attention to how the kitchen sends out food) . A small menu and if evidence was ever needed that this wasn't a 'Marriott' - It was missing the Marriott Signature burger which is found in pretty much every Marriott I have stayed in! Room servicing - Getting told initially on check in that room service would be a once in a lifetime opportunity is now common place, however, the Marriott managed to surpass my already low expectations and failed to come even when asked! You want some shower gel? - well you ain't getting it at the Marriott!! - Much like any good correctional facility, its one kind of soap for everything at the Marriott (hair shampoo).. add that to the shower which doesn't drain and you can be the star of your very own Broadway musical about life in the big house. I try and balance my reviews and while many of the issues encountered at the Marriott are not massive issues, when you are paying premium prices for a hotel, it's hard to look over some of these basic issues. My message to management - What the *&$#?? - you had a great hotel, I have stayed many times before Covid and you've managed to totally screw it up! I appreciate challenges of staffing, need to increase revenue etc etc - however much of this has been at the cost of customer service. Many of your staff just look fed up and about as happy as the guests are to be in your hotel. You have made my decision on returning much easier though, pretty much anywhere but your hotel... Even a nice little surprise on a clear morning you could see the Statue of Liberty right in between the 2 buildings in front. The room was very large. Lovely comfortable bed, large tv, couch, table. The bathroom was lovely. Nice large shower. Shampoo, wash etc too which were very nice. Iron and hairdryer was in the room aswell. The safe was good and easy to use. We never heard a peep at the hotel. No one passing the room made a noise. This was good considering it was thanksgiving. Every member of staff we came in contact with were so lovely and friendly. We did not eat here but we had some drinks. The cleaners keep the hotel looking nice and fresh. We thought this would be a one off holiday but we will definitely be back in the big city and will be back at this beautiful hotel. Thank you for a lovely stay. Read less

They told me the guest woukd have to come down and request the package. They said I should talk to Security and switched me there. Security was annoyed and said they do not get involved in deliveries When the guest went downstairs, they said they didn’t know who it was for , it had no name . I sent two Bakery deliveries to two hotels. One graciously accepted it and delivered it to the guests room. This hotel was rude and unhelpful and I would not think of having my company do business with this type of staff. Read less

Easy efficient check in and I just love the lift/elevator system. It works perfectly. The rooms are recently renovated and immaculate although I found the pillows uneasy. Small gripe I admit. Great coffee machine I must add, but a couple of bottle of waters in the room would have been welcomed. Totally focused on safety during the virus and in no way did this detract from my experience. I ate a couple of times in the restaurant and it was really good. Big screens and great atmosphere. Would recommend the steak - it was cooked perfectly. Bit of a tip for those who are first time visitors - if you need to use the subway to go downtown to the 9-11 memorial and battery park for the statue cruise don't go to 42nd Street go to 50 St for the number 1 ( you can buy a metrocard there too). It is minutes walk away and you avoid the masses and confusion. Really enjoyed my stay, the staff were so friendly and for me there is no other option if I return to Times Square. Thank you all.
