While my overall experience was wonderful, a couple of things bring my rating down. First, the positives: Upon booking, I said I was travelling alone for a birthday, and could they do anything special for me. I arrived to find I was booked into a corner room with an amazing view of the Empire State Building. The staff also decorated for me with banners and balloons, and the mirrors were adorned with messages, which was lovely The hotel itself is amazing. A welcoming feel, stylish decor, and a real party vibe. The chill out areas and bar were great spaces The elevator system was great, simple touch screen design Wonderfully powerful shower and comfortable beds with super soft sheets The reception was stocked daily with free goodies, including cans and bottled water, baskets of fruit, cereal bars and sweets Now the negatives: Room wasn’t cleaned or towels changed once in 7 nights. Unless I had to ask for this? No one made me aware For such a new hotel, I am amazed the rooms aren’t soundproofed to some degree. The noise. THE NOISE! Earplugs are a must to drown out the sound from the street and the rooftop bar When I arrived, I found plenty of goodies in the room, including bottled water, cans of soda, pretzels, sweets and cereal bars, which I thought were a gift for my birthday. When I saw my final bill, (which was in excess of $2500) I was actually charged for a bottle of water! Having seen photos on TripAdvisor, I saw some bottles of water had price labels on them, I can assure you mine did not. Water is free in reception everyday! I don’t care if the brands were different, water is water. Now I know this seems like such a small thing, and I obviously don’t need this refunding, hell it wouldn’t make a dent in the bill, but it’s the principle of the thing. I would still return to the Moxy, it was a perfect base the get around the city Read less

Me and my boyfriend have stayed at the Moxy 3 times now and every time is a fun experience. Was shocked at the lobby (terrible) first then the room…. Have traveled all over the world and this was the worst room I’ve ever stayed in. Liked the bars but felt trapped in the room. Also hated the elevator system. I would never stay there again.

The Moxy Hotel is at a great location at walking distance to many nice spots around the city. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Style looks great, the shower in the room is also great, but I have to say that the room is quite small even just for two people, you have to choreograph to dress yourself at the same time to avoid each other. I really can’t imagine having more than two people in the room. The toilet doesn’t have any ventilation or sound proofing so it can be a bit uncomfortable for the other people sharing the room. No breakfast bar but coffee is really good, you have to go for it to the bar, but you can sit down there and enjoy it, it’s worth it. The gym is also small with some basic equipment, so if you need to do a some quick cardio on a machine or some quick weight workout, is also fine, but if you plan to do something on a yoga mat, good luck finding a spot where you are not obstructing other people. You also have towels, water and some fresh wet towels which are also nice. Bar was also ok, not that great selection of beers or drinks, but is something nice to start the night. Moving around the city is pretty easy, nearby metro station and outside the hotel there is a Citi bike station to rent some bikes. Perfect for moving around, COVID safe because you can avoid crowds in the metro. A better way to enjoy the city, I recommend trying it out, and if you get a free trail, even better General stay was pretty good, I would recommend it and come back again, the only issue we had was with the air conditioning, it didn’t work and we had to move to another room, a smaller room (downgrade), so if space is limited then this was even worse. I guess hotel was fully booked or that was the only option available, but we didn’t want to bother complaining, though I was expecting more from the customer service for that particular case. Objectively speaking and assuming our issue is not something common, we can recommend the hotel. Read less

We were recommend to stay around the 15th floor as the 17th can be noisy due to the rooftop bar. Loved the way the lifts worked etc. Every morning they had loads of goodies in reception to grab on the way out. Magic Hour is the rooftop bar, however its located around the corner through a separate entrance. The pizza from the restaurant on the corner was delicious. Our whole stay was lovely, the rooms are compact, hip, modern and fully equipped. I would highly recommend it as a comfortable base. There are two reasons for not giving it 5 stars. 1. Magic Hour, i'm in my 30's and i look in my 30's but security grilled every single one of us, looked at every photo ID i had, so much so we thought we would have to go back to the hotel to get passports. Eventually we were let in after all our ID's were scanned, Being guests in the hotel doesnt seem to matter ID or entrance wise. Security could get a lesson in manners to be honest A fabulous bar once you get up though. 2. The first night we stayed there, Apr 29th, we were woken to shouting, screaming and a fight outside our room, along the corridor and what seemed at one stage above us. While not the hotels fault, it got very aggressive when a guest decided he would go after the people making noise. Security did come up and there was no more noise, i think someone got thrown out BUT i state it here as if an older couple was staying in the hotel or a solo traveler, im certain they would have been extremely frightened. Well done to security for sorting the situation. Read less
