Could not be more disappointed. I understand there is still a pandemic, and that staff is short and we all need to have patience. I’m trying. But this hotel has really exceeded my low expectations. Giving exceptions for normal NYC issues like super small rooms and limited services, plan accordingly if you book this hotel. The location is great but the room is dorm size at best. I’m in a queen with no closet, no workspace and no actual bathroom door. That’s right the bathroom door, less than 9’ feet from the bed is basically see through. So be prepared to see your husband, children, girlfriends etc., on the toilet. I’m ready to get over all of that but… no hot water. NO HOT WATER! And no communication about it after multiple calls and visits from engineering’. The hotel was working on it in my room when I had to leave for a meeting this morning and assured me it would be fixed this afternoon. I got back and there was no message, no note, no nothing. At 8 tonight, it’s still not fixed I asked the front desk and was told they know it’s a problem and they could move me to another room but couldn’t be sure I’d have hot water there. But possibly your floor will have hot water tomorrow. Really sorry I didn’t stick with Hilton at this point. I haven’t encountered any staff that wasn’t downright rude, including front desk and bartenders. Overall I’m giving this facility a thumbs down. I’m sure some have had a good experience here but for now, I’m a #NoMoxy. Read less

The Moxy NYC Times Square hotel is a pretty basic property, but has most of the comforts necessary for a one-night stay. I stayed in a Queen guest room which was overall small and lacked most amenities I would expect to see in a Marriott property. The majority of the furniture in the room is hanging on the wall and I had to take it off the wall and unfold it in order to use it. There was no closet and anything I wanted to hang was on pegs on the aforementioned wall or on the two or three hangers that were provided. The bed was fairly comfortable, but the bedding was extremely basic and I could have used a thicker blanket/comforter. What disappointed me the most was the lack of bathroom amenities or toiletries. The only amenities provided in the room were a hair dryer and steamer. Do not expect slippers and a bathrobe, let alone lotion or a shower cap. In the shower, which has no door, there was shampoo/body wash and conditioner. Breakfast which consisted of a paper bag filled with a muffin, granola bar, pretzels, and an orange was provided in the lobby for all guests, but you better get there before 9am if you want to indulge. I met two friends a the Magic Hour rooftop bar at the hotel and this was the highlight of my stay. The rooftop offers Instagramable photo spots and overpriced tasty cocktails as well as bar bites. Overall, this is not the type of hotel I would consider staying in again. It was adequate for a one-night stay, but I prefer a hotel that has more to offer in terms of amenities. Read less

Every part of the hotel was well-thought out, insta pic perfect! Beds, towels, pillows were very comfortable, clean, etc. However, shower doors and bathroom doors were very see-through lol *not ideal if you are visiting with family members* 😂 I really struggled between 4-5 stars, but at the end, the good outweighs the bad. Breakfast consisted of a muffin, coffee, orange, pretzels in a bag, which I wasn’t really a fan of, I guess I expected a little more. My second bother is that I visited Magic Hour which the hotel promotes as theirs on every social media, even their website, or at least that they are affiliated with them and at the time of booking reservations for Magic Hour, guests of the hotel have no priority and they mentioned that they were their independent business. Also, they mentioned on their website that guest of the hotels would receive 10% discount off the bill for Magic Hour, I tried to redeem my discount but they mentioned that they were not doing that anymore, which was a little disappointing. But overall, will for sure be visiting again! Hopefully one of their other locations Lastly, rooms are not made or cleaned until your 5th day of your stay, which I missed when booking but I guess that’s okay. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating W vibe, barebones amenities and service

This was my first stay at a Moxy; this property has a vibe similar to many W hotels (loud music playing everywhere, dark interior areas, lots of neon). The rooms are stylish and reasonably comfortable, but they lack very basic amenities that even the lowest end budget chains provide (e.g. no irons in the rooms, no coffee maker). Service is friendly when you can find someone but the hotel is severely understaffed; somewhere between 0 and 1 people staffing the front desk at any given time, and most calls to guest services were never picked up. Just getting an iron required 2 calls and a needless trip to the front desk (on the second call, after no iron was delivered, I was told to go to the front desk to get one, but they had none and were baffled as to why I would have been told that). To get through to them those 2 times required at least 10 attempted calls, most of which were never picked up. All in all I would only return here if it were very inexpensive relative to other Marriott properties like Courtyard or Fairfield Inn. Read less

I spent three nights at this property and loved it. It's close enough to all the action of Times Square but I love the fact that it's not in the center of all of the hustle of bustle of it. The hotel is located on 36th street which is little less chaotic than other parts of Times Square. Even better is its close proximity to the PATH train which made my visit to Hoboken a very short commute. I stayed in single room on the 11th floor. The room, although small, had all of the amenities I needed. The bed was very comfortable, the walk in shower was very spacious, and the room had all amenities I needed. The only thing missing was an ironing board. I couldn't really figure out how the steamers worked. the hotel staff went out of their way to ensure I had an excellent visit. I'd definitely recommend this property to anyone paying a visit to the city who wants to be in the heart of the action and doesn't mind a tad smaller space. The only thing that maybe would have enhanced my experience would have been a visit to the rooftop bar. It was too packed. Also, rooms were spotless. I always take Clorox wipes and/or Lysol spray with me when I stay in hotels and I didn't even feel a need to use the wipes at this property. Due to COVID, rooms aren't cleaned on a daily basis but staff can bring towels, or any other needed items, to your room when necessary. Read less
