We had a suite so it was very spacious and comfortable. If you get a standard room the size and layout might be drastically different. We had a suite so it was very spacious and comfortable. If you get a standard room the size and layout might be drastically different. They initially gave us the wrong room and it had a weird layout and was extremely tight. After we notified the reception of their mistake, we had to bring our own bags down to get a new room key. The front desk and bell service were very short-handed. At the front desk they informed us that the right room was not yet ready - it was already past check-in time. The front desk told us to walk around and they will call us when the room was ready. It was 30 degrees Fahrenheit outside. It was not until my wife protested that they gave us vouchers for complimentary drinks at the bar while we waited. The rest of the stay was good - everything worked and the room was cleaned properly. The bed was extremely comfortable if you like it soft. However certain basic amenities like Q-tips and shower caps were never refilled through our entire stay (8 nights). There are complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby at breakfast time but none in the rooms. We expect this to be basic amenities and it was missing. Read less

My 11 year old daughter and I took a trip to the NYC in August of this year. She had never been to the NYC before and it was something she (and I) had been looking forward to for quite some. I'm an extensive traveler and have stayed in countless hotels. The Refinery hotel is now my go to for the NYC. From the moment you walk in the door, you are greeted by some of the friendliest staff I've ever had the opportunity of meeting. Mike, Roger, Bobby, and the other staff were just so unbelievably sweet to my daughter on her first trip to the NYC. They helped us get tickets to the Beetlejuice musical, and suggested the best slice of pizza in town. They treated my daughter, not like some little girl, but like the awesome human she is. The rooms were beautiful! The amenities in the room were perfect and refreshing, and every detail was just the way it should be for an outstanding hotel in the NYC. The rooftop view has a beautiful bar and view! My only issue is that you can't bring children to it in the evening. It would have been great to have some food, an adult beverage for myself, and a Shirley Temple for my daughter... under the stars on the rooftop. I wouldn't even call that an issue though. We had other options for that in town as well. I can't say enough about this hotel! I'll be in town for this Thanksgiving and I'm hoping I'm not to late to have another stay at this outstanding hotel. Read less

You can easily end up paying an extra tip on top of afore mentioned convenience fee The rooftop bar offers a truly impressive view of the NYC skyline and Empire State Building But it’s almost impossible to get served as the hotel allows access to non residents Check out was good , we were given complementary water and a great cup of coffee I can’t say we would make an effort to make this a hotel to return to as there are so many places to stay in NYC But we would consider a return Young hip vibe and accent, very nice decor Friendly, accommodating staff. Even the newspaper they leave in your room about the hotel and it’s surrounding are unique and fun. The rooftop bar restaurant was welcoming for lunch after a hectic flight. I want to come here with my friends and enjoy NYC again! Read less
