Lifts that break down. No breakfast served in the hotel at weekends and a below-par breakfast when it is served. You can’t even buy a coffee in the lobby. Tired rooms. This hotel is trading off a brand name that is not justified by the experience; something has gone seriously wrong with this place.

The location is very convenient if you are after Broadway or Central Park. Staff is friendly. Rooms are clean and in good shape. TV is weird. Breakfast is ok for a 3-star hotel, but this is New York. There was a horrible noise from the outside - someone can call it a nightclub disco, but it was rather a cacophony of sound that lasted well until morning. We could hear it very well from the top 26th floor and could not fall asleep until 4 am after driving into NYC. We changed the room the next day and it was much quieter, but one night was ruined. Not much excuse from the hotel as this must be a well-known issue. But, hey GM: i) inform about it on your webpage or ii) make windows noise-proof. Read less

I chose this hotel for a three night stay at the end of August over W Times Square because their service seemed to have better reviews than the W, and I was not disappointed! I had contacted Michelle Tracey from the reservations team about my stay the week before, because I had a 6 day and 1 day stay in Paris right before our stop in New York, and I would technically hit Platinum status during my stay at the Renaissance. Of course, I didn’t expect them to award me Platinum benefits until my elite nights posted, but Michelle was nice enough to offer us 4pm check out since we had a late flight home from New York and upgraded us to a high floor room with a better view, which was greatly appreciated. On the morning of check-in, my elite nights from my Paris stays had posted and I was at 47 nights. I contacted the hotel via chat to ask if I could receive Platinum benefits since I would hit night 50 during my stay and they said they would be “delighted” to honor the benefits, which included breakfast in the lounge. Our midnight check-in went smoothly and me hitting Platinum status was acknowledged, and the front desk agent (I believe Valentina) was very welcoming and gave us all the information we needed for our stay. The room was very nice. It wasn't the best view because of so much construction on that block, but it was a nice room with good amenities and very clean. Bed must have been comfortable because we had no trouble sleeping. I also appreciated the free Evian water bottles each day as a Platinum guest. The views of the Times Square breakfast lounge were quite amazing—they really have prime real estate and it was breathtaking. The breakfast food itself wasn't incredible, but it was decent enough and together with the views it motivated us enough to go down to have breakfast every morning. They had hot options like sausage biscuits or breakfast burritos and fried sweet potatoes, along with fruit bowls, yogurt, pastries, coffee, and juice. I expect food options may have been better pre-covid, but I wasn't complaining because I was just happy to be granted the free breakfast Platinum benefit. However, the level of service I received before the end of my stay really helped ensure our visit was memorable and will certainly have me more loyal to this hotel if I stay in Times Square again. In the middle of my stay, to my surprise, room service delivered a letter, a bottle of prosecco, and a small box of chocolates to my room. It was a very sweet letter from Michelle giving me an early congratulations on hitting Platinum status! It was very much appreciated being acknowledged for my loyalty and definitely makes me happy that I chose this hotel for our short stay in New York! Thank you again for your amazing hospitality Michelle, and thank you to the Renaissance team for a great stay! Read less

This Amazing Hotel located In Times Square is steps away from Fine Dining, Shopping, Romance A Wonderful Opportunity to visit the Theatre. View Art, Attend Concerts, Dance, Dine, Meet Lovely People And Celebrating Life. My husband our Gorgeous Siberian Husky and I were warmly welcomed and offered a More Spacious Room to Accommodate our Service Dog. Room is located on a higher level with Spectacular Views. A Request made for a late checkout after our stay for a week was granted at no extra cost to us. A Generous Caring Lady. Thank You precious Lady. We were ecstatic. Grateful and Feeling Pampered and Enthusiastic to travel out, we called security for help as our room key had not been activated as yet. He stepped forward immediately. Escorting us to our room via elevator He made us knowledgeable about the use of the key card for use throughout hotel including entry into our Room. After assuring us of safety and with the knowledge that we were, He Thanked us for our Choice of the Renaissance Hotel .Wished us a Magnificent stay. A kind, Thoughtful Gentleman. Thank You Sir. The Most Beautiful Heartwarming Time in my Heart Came The Moment Lady Maria Sanchez from Housekeeping walked into our Room. An Energetic, vibrant Marvelous Employee Special Employee who not only Transformed our Room in Elegance , Cleanliness, Ambiance, Harmony. She stopped Tireless Detailed cleaning to Genuinely Apologize to Co Worker (having Accidentally brushed shoulder against him) who had stepped into room to remove linen from floor. He accepted Apology and said said it was Fine. I saw a United Team Who wore their Closeness in Working Together. Showing Mutual respect for each other and Exuding this to me and Every Hotel Guest around them. Having watch Maria Change my Comforter, Covers, pillowcases, linens So Professionally I learned how to Dress a Bed Properly. Our Room is now in Pristine Shape. Maria asks me to view the Bathroom which is Sparklingly Bright and Polished. She asks if there is anything She may remove or add To make it more Comfortable for our family and Siberian Husky. My Heart Danced. Maria SanchezYou Stole my Heart The moment you graciously walked into the Room because You Work Loving What You Do. not just working because you have to. You Care About, Care For, Have A Deep Loving Concern and Understanding of the Needs of the Hotel Guests . Because of Maria Sanchez Elevating our Hearts with Unbelievable Warmth, Understanding, Gentleness and Love Our Family Will Surely Be Sharing Many More Loving Hopeful Times Meeting Many More Beautiful Charming People Who Also Loved Their Stay at the Remarkable Grand Renaissance Hotel Nolene Morgan Read less

We were given a Terrace room with the weirdest bathroom setup I have ever seen in a full service hotel - tiny glass vessel sink (in the room, no less) and a toilet / shower area with a glass door that closed with a bang. Went to speak to the front desk about changing rooms in the morning, clerk assured me that he would leave a message and block a room for us. Of course, the desk clerk on duty knew nothing about this and was rude "you booked a Terrace room" - I explained the hotel selected the upgraded room, not me. Overall, the hotel was OK (we moved to a double room on 24) but I am going back to the Marquis on my next trip to NYC. Read less
