This hotel is centrally located in the heart of Times Square and is a convenient place to get to just about anything you want to see in the area. We had a very positive experience from start to finish, with a smooth check-in process and an easily accessible layout. Everything was very clean, and I appreciated the extra safety measure of using our key cards to utilize the elevators. Our room was decently size, with a comfortable bed and modern amenities. The view of Times Square was lovely! I will add that since this hotel is in Times Square, there's a perpetual faint hum of noise from both vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The hotel does a good job of blocking out most of the noise, but if you require complete silence, be sure to mention it to the front desk when you check in. There's a restaurant here, although we didn't try it (the menu looked good, though). The staff are very friendly and professional. Prices reflect the central location of the hotel (Times Square is a coveted spot). Read less

This hotel is centrally located right in the heart of Times Square. Walking distance to shopping, restaurants, grocery stores, and attractions. As with most Renaissance hotels, this is typical with a hip and upbeat atmosphere. All staff interaction from front desk, security, and breakfast was great. The breakfast offers a variety of options: Cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, fresh fruit, eggs, and self service Starbucks coffee. They have both caffeinated and decaffeinated as well as a variety of teas. My standard room was slightly larger than your average New York City room. It was approximately 300 ft.² and perfect for my overnight stay. The room, as well as the rest of the hotel, has a modern and contemporary decor. The shower was great and offered liquid pump body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. Anyone reading this review may be surprised by what I’m about to say, considering my 5-star review. The hotel is terrific, however, I won’t stay here again. I’m sensitive to noise and light. With its prime location right on Broadway, in the middle of Times Square, the noise can be irritating at times. The hotel is next to the main plaza where they have concerts. The thumping was annoying, but luckily, it ended by 9 PM. With the shades drawn, the flashing neon light can be seen. I also have a White Noise app on my phone, and unfortunately, I still heard the outside noise even though I was on the 14th floor. If you’re sensitive to noise and light, you may want to consider another hotel. I didn’t want this to affect the rating of the hotel itself. Read less

Starting with the few positives the staff in the hotel were really friendly and helpful. Additionally, the beds were extremely comfortable. Now for the negatives. On arrival at check-in, we were informed that the hotel had no licence to open the bar for the 4 nights of our stay. One of the reasons for returning to this hotel was to be able to sit in the big glass windows with a cocktail and watch the hudtle and bustle of times square below. We were so disappointed that this could happen in a so called 4 star hotel that was still advertising the bar on their website. There was an apology, but that was it ... no offer to compensate for the loss of service or offer any alternative. It was bad!!! On top of no bar seevice they did not even have a proper coffee machine to offer latte or capacchino. Again, very poor. Secondly, the lifts were really slow, and sometimes only 1 out of 3 seemed to work. Being on the 20th floor meant we wasted loads of time just trying to escape the hotel. The final straw was on the 3rd day of breakfast. we had self-serve for tea or coffee, which we could cope with except that only paper cups we available. Then it was plastic knives and forks. You could not make it up!!! So to sum up we will never stay here again. NEVER. Read less

I stayed at the Renaissance in Chelsea (which is exactly the amazing experience I would expect from a Bonvoy) earlier in the week for work and then planned on meeting family at the Renaissance Times Square for a Broadway show “Here Lies Love” (which was amazing!). I’m a loyal Bonvoy member and have never had such a bad experience as this weekend. The staff were not very knowledgeable about much (except for the bell desk manager who quickly and expertly got us a cab out of the city before the marathon started), the elevators barely worked and it took half an hour and an 18 story trip down the stairwell carrying our suitcases to finally get to the lobby after we had given up on the elevators, the rooms were not clean at all as there was mold all over the shower tile and to top it off, the hotel had lost their liquor license and were not able to sell or serve alcohol all weekend. They only told you when you checked in I assume so you didn’t have any choice but to stay there. We had to walk to the Marriott Marquis through the crowds each not to have a drink at their bar. I am soooo sorry I didn’t stay at the MM instead. This Renaissance needs a complete overhaul as I assume that faulty and dangerous elevators and losing your liquor license are indicators of very incompetent management. Please Bonvoy, do not let this place take down your reputation for amazing experiences. And please folks coming to NYC, there are other nearby Bonvoy properties that are 1000% better! You have been warned. Read less
