I stayed here on a recent trip to NYC and enjoyed staying at this hotel. It reminded me of some of the cozy boutique type hotels where I stayed in Europe -- and indeed, many of my fellow guests were European. Talking points: 1. Staff friendly and helpful from the moment my taxi dropped me off until I left for the airport. 2. Hotel appears to have been recently updated, with modern shower and decor furnishings throughout. The entire hotel has a nice fresh (but not overpowering) smell. 3. Convenient location -- theatre district , times square, shopping 4. The continental breakfast is nice and includes some hot items, such as eggs, bacon and/or sausage. 5. The coffee is excellent and is available 24/7 in the lobby along with hot water, tea bags, fresh water. One caution: the hotel does not offer a secure Internet connection or business center, so if you need this amenity, you might want to look elsewhere. Highly recommend! Read less

The 'guaranteed' check-in by 3.00 pm was not honoured. Please wait in the bar where over-amplified muzak and decor from a bad day in the nineties awaits. The room, when it becomes available, was a dogbox. Small, dark and unwelcoming. The 'breakfast' was disgraceful. Served in the same, back-to-the-nineties bar. My wife had to spread a napkin out on the chair before she sat down. It was disgusting. There were no options for anyone with any ideas of healthy eating. Porridge? No. Muesli? No. Yoghurt, granola, bran? That would be a no. Eggs? Yes! Tepid scrambled eggs. Other varities? Boiled, poached, fried? No. Bacon. That's a no. But TWO cannisters of pressurized whipping cream if you'd like that. Fruit? Yes, tired apples or oranges sitting in the same fruit bowl day after day. One of the delightful staff (and yes, the staff are uniformly delightful and as helpful as their appalling employer allows them to be) offered (and did) to fetch a banana from 'out back'. I tried one of the bottles of gelatinous, chemically sweetened 'probiotics' on offer. Spoon? No. But they did 'fetch one from out back' where the spoons keep company with the bananas. Awful, awful, awful. Read less

We visited in October as we got married in New york, the hotel is amazing in location, cleanliness & style. The breakfast has a wide range of things to choose from. The staff are really helpful especially Danny on the door he helped us with directions places to eat & sorted our transfers back to the airport. Can't wait to visit again 😊

Solo traveler on a 1 day work trip. I asked for a quiet room and was told that I am given one. However, the door was not isolated (there was a visible gap) and all night long I heard doors slamming, loud conversations and suitcases being dragged. Everything else was perfectly ok - room, amenities, breakfast, nice staff - but the job to be done… Read more

Rooms are small and not much storage space but hey this is New York! Breakfast included and fine to start the day, serves from 07:00 which suited us. The real plus of this hotel is the staff, especially the door men who are always on hand, Gil the STAR manager was great and booked the 9/11 museum on our behalf. We were celebrating our 30th Wedding Anniversary which was overlooked by the hotel but not an issue. There is building work going on at the end of the street which is a bit disruptive but we just went the other way! Read less
