The hotel

The clue’s in the name — The Sanctuary Hotel is a haven in its own right. If you're on a couples city break, or a girls weekend away, this is a great option (particularly if you're a bit of a foodie!). From a sushi restaurant and rooftop cocktail bar, to richly detailed rooms, you’ll be spoilt for choice with where to spend some down-time. Make the most of the complimentary breakfast each morning, and be fully-fuelled to spend the day exploring the Big Apple. You’ll even have the hotel’s S.T.A.R concierge on hand for ‘Service Tailored to Any Request’, so you can (quite literally) make this your very own sanctuary.

Where is it

On West 47th Street, 2 blocks from Times Square and 5th Avenue where it meets Broadway. Theatres, the Rockefeller Centre, St Patricks Cathedral and Fifth Avenue Shops are all within walking distance. Transfer time from John F. Kennedy International Airport: 50 minutes.

Hotel information

113 compact rooms, all with air-conditioning, HD flat-screen TV, iHome stereo and docking station, safe, mini-bar*, hairdryer, bathrobes, and bathroom amenities.

Superior Queen Rooms are approximately 210-225 sq ft and feature either courtyard or city views, with 1 queen-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults. 

Please note: some rooms may have restricted views of the courtyard or city. 

Deluxe King Rooms are more spacious at 315-325 sq ft with 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults or 2 adults and 1 child (rollaway bed is available for an additional fee).

Deluxe Double Double Rooms are as above, but with 2 double beds, sleeping maximum 4 people.

  • Virgin Holidays customers receive a waived facility fee with a value of $26 per day.

Complimentary daily continental breakfast which includes coffee, juice, cereal, yoghurt, fruit, and breakfast breads. Haven Rooftop Restaurant and Bar (open for brunch, lunch and dinner) with evening entertainment and cocktails. Sushi Lab Rooftop (open for lunch and dinner). Chemistry Room Restaurant (intimate dining experience with tasting menu, open for dinner). Sushi by Bou (modern sushi speakeasy bar, open for lunch and dinner). 2 lounge bars.

Lovely atmosphere! Beds comfy and comforters and pillows were great! I love that they sit low to floor. Hair products lovely. Breakfast standard continental. Always prefer hot but I get it! Will stay again. Nichole gets a shout out for being super helpful and kind.

Rachel, Nichole and Dustin at the front desk are angels, very patient and warm. Can’t give these people enough praise! The Hotel Manager was a wonderful help and really does go above and beyond to make sure my fiancé and myself left satisfied. We were both so entranced by this experience, we’ve already booked our next stay for this summer! I wouldn’t recommend any other Hotel in NYC. Read less

Great place, and a lovley stay. Definitely recommend. Location is perfect. And breakfast is great. Times sq is literally 100 yards away. But very quiet at night. Vichet was extremely polite and helpful. Back soon. Rob and family (Manchester)

I can only say great things about the Sanctuary. Every member of staff we had dealt with was very welcoming & pleasant & nothing was a problem for them. I was given a lovely surprise for my birthday which I only knew afterwards they were happy to accommodate after speaking with a family member back home & helped organise everything without a bother at all. The location is great, stone throw away from Times Square. However, with it being it so close, every night I managed to get a good night sleep. Our queen room was ideal for us, clean & comfortable. Continental breakfast again was ideal to pick up something before setting off early in the day & there was always plenty of choice with food & drink in our experience. I would definitely recommend this hotel & would love to go back again one day in the future. Read less

What a great hotel. Perfect location to access NYC with ease. Staff were friendly, helpful and always had a smile to greet us. Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to be in the heart of the Apple. Thank you to Raychel, Nicole, Vutha and Jonathan to name but a few of the staff.
