It was a Queen room and was very comfortable, The only issue was the air condition being very loud every time it chimed on to keep the temperature at desired setting. Some rooms might not have this issue as our room might have had an older unit installed. I really liked the doormen concierge as they were so helpful all the time. We received a free $10 a day to spend with the reservation so we used it for water. Close to Rockefeller Center and Time Square. Good restaurants in the Mid town area and subway is the way to travel in New York and felt safe to us, Taxi's is the other way to get around cheaper than Uber or Lyft but still high to for even 2 miles. Just walk and walk and you can see New York by foot is the way to travel on a visit. Read less

Abysmal air quality. Heavy minty smell of air freshener (probably Maxim Neutral Disinfectant Mint Scent) perhaps they spray the room with it to try to mask the musty smell of the really old carpets. I left the windows open with cold air blowing in all night and still didn’t help much. Hopefully not lasting I’ll effects on my health from breathing… Read more

Also the first room I checked into had hairs on the bed showing the linen wasn’t changed. Read less

We came for night to enjoy the city and participate in the Easter Parade, the hotel was perfectly situated to St Patrick’s Cathedral! Firstly Yellow taxi Manhattan to JFK charge a fixed fee of $52 plus toll, plus fee plus tip. This costs MAXIMUM $70 from this hotel to JFK with a tip. The doorman tried to insist on arranging us a ‘cab’ at a cost of $130. He tried to tell us that this is the ‘going rate’ and a yellow cab would be much more and that there isn’t a fixed fee. The doorman tried to insist on arranging us a ‘cab’ at a cost of $130. He tried to tell us that this is the ‘going rate’ and a yellow cab would be much more and that there isn’t a fixed fee. Luckily we had researched beforehand and knew the Yellow cab fee. Very underhand practices. Secondly, we booked a Kingsize suite for two adults and two children. We had a late flight from Heathrow and arrived at the hotel at 2am. The sofa bed wasn’t made up, the room hadn’t been cleaned, we didn’t have a bin, an iron, full cutlery etc. We asked for hypoallergenic bedding and were told initially that they didn’t have any. Then we were offered ‘down’ bedding and were told that it’s not possible to be allergic to down. We asked to move rooms and were told at 8am that we would need to return after 4pm to be given a new room which would be made up. Again, the new room had only 2 knives and spoons, no iron and again feather pillows. The fridge hadn’t been cleaned and had items from the previous occupant as well as split sauce and hairs in it. There is no restaurant or rooftop bar which was advertised. The room was shabby, dirty and needed repairing in places. The only saving Grace is that the reception and housekeeping staff were friendly and trying their best. This is not a 4* hotel and I will not be returning. Read less
