Wonderful hotel. Beautiful rooms. Terrific location. Outstanding service and offerings at the Club. Each employee spends time to get to know you to provide personalized suggestions and recommendations based on personal experiences. (and caviar on Saturday evenings)

We stayed here on our annual visit to see the lights at Rockefeller Center and this property did not disappoint. I used points for the room and had a regular king room which was outstanding. Great spacious bathroom. This hotel was recently renovated and it is wonderful. Staff is the best. Property right across from Central Park. Highly recommend.… Read more

We had a good experience here. There were great amenities for our toddler. The room was new and very comfortable bed. The bar and restaurant had good service. The service at the concierge and door were not up to the standard I would expect. The concierge gave us incorrect information regarding the logistics of our departure. I would stay here… Read more

For the fourth year I have celebrated my birthday at the Star Room at the Ritz Carlton. It is ordered in advance so everything is specially made for you. It is expensive so a treat, but it is one of the best teas in the city!

Marriott taking over Ritz Carlton has been good for Marriott brands and not so great for the Ritz Carlton brand. Nothing proves this rule more than this property. I stayed here many years ago and now just stayed recently. Things have changed (to say the least). Gone is the elegance, grace, and "old world magic" of the pre-Marriott Ritz Carlton. This is a very nice hotel, but it feels like it is part of a big chain. We stayed in a "deluxe" one bedroom (couldn't tell what made it "deluxe"). The hotel is well built and the rooms are of good quality (but they are on the small side for a "five star" property). Our room was nice, but felt a little cramped (by "5-star" standards). The furnishings are of high quality but they are the pretty much the same as you will find at any Ritz these days (and the higher quality JW Marriott properties). Our room had a spectacular view of Central Park. The hotel has an enviable location and a decent gym (didn't see any pool). We had lounge access. Very good food but very Marriott. When I stayed here way back when, caviar and stone crab claws were served club level--not anymore--but still good. Also, there is supposedly still a dress code in the club but these days it is not enforced (I actually saw a guest in bare feet and not one of the many staff members said a word to him). The service at this property is solid, but not over the top. There were a couple of little flaws. They kept removing my daughter's rollaway when we asked them not to (and one night they made it up with dirty blankets). But, as soon as we brought the flaws to their attention, they fixed them immediately (and most things service-wise were fine). Again, nothing wrong with this hotel (actually quite good and amazing location). I do not give it 5 circles because I believe there are better brands in this price range (Auberge, Four Seasons, Relais properties, etc). However you could certainly do much worse (I have stayed at Mandarin Oriental in NYC and that was a horrible experience). This is a fine choice but not the magical, old world experience of Ritz Carlton past. Also, they DO NOT honor platinum Marriott status at Ritz Carltons. I have totally accepted this fact, but it seems like (from the other reviews) that many are bitter about this. Get over it people. You can use the Marriott points to book rooms, but you get NOOOOO special recognition. That's just the way it is. Read less
