Absolutely the least impressive $1000 per night hotel room you can imagine. Absolutely the least impressive $1000 per night hotel room you can imagine. I was given a base level room at the back of the building, right next to a service door that slammed constantly all day and into the night. With a broken air conditioner that rattled and wheezed like something straight out of Motel Six. And a cordless phone circa 1994 that barely worked. Suffice it to say my room looked nothing like the pretty pictures so helpfully posted here by the property. On the plus side, the towels are top quality, the bed extremely comfortable, and the staff unfailingly courteous. But there are so many truly excellent Manhattan hotels in this price range, I cannot imagine ever returning. Read less

We had a fabulous weekend at the Ritz! The entire Club level staff was amazing. Felix was able to find a tailor to alter a dress over the holiday weekend, other staff worked miracles in dining reservations, and the breakfasts were amazing. Far better than other Ritz and Four Seasons Club level options across the country. We will return!

I’m giving this hotel a well deserved low rating. Our previously three stays were very good experiences. We are currently staying in room #616 through this Saturday (unless I check-out and go to another hotel). Being a loyal Titanium Elite member with over 800 nights spent in 5 star hotels with Marriott & partners, this was by far one of the most offensive experiences I can remember. Here are the reasons I believe this hotel and staff fall below the standards of Ritz Carlton. 1. I was offended that the front desk informed me if I wanted to use the Executive lounge that it would be an extra $250. per night. I informed him that as a Titanium Elite, I have never been requested to pay an up-charge for lounge access at a Ritz Carlton & St. Regis, ever. He informed “we normally charge $500-$750 up-charge per night night in peak season.” I guess August 27th is not peak season…
 2. I was eligible for an upgrade with suite night rewards, but was informed by the same gentleman that they did not have availability. I understand, however, I can look on the reservations portal and there are rooms available for sale in every category… 3. I took a cold shower for the 4 minutes until the water was finally warming but he time I was finishing. I understand, it's an old building but we are paying prime money for prime real estate. I do not think a Ritz Carlton should subject their guest to such a discomfort! We have stayed at this property several times over times over the past few years and have always been upgraded without even using my Bonvoy Suite night rewards. To be given a room in the back of the hotel on the lowest floor (which my app preferences always request a high floor) is just not taking the customers preferences into account or even looking at the customer reservations. This is very far below the Ritz Carlton standard or really any 5 star in a conceptive market like NYC. I did not raise an issue with the customer service, but feel the front desk decisions will most likely cause me to take my 14 nights stay per year in NYC away from this hotel to a competitor in the future. We were looking for a weekend getaway treat and the Ritz was perfect. We decided on an Avenue room with partial view and it was great -- from the bed, the view was of the Park. Check-in, concierge, and room service were all very kind. We had told the Ritz in advance that it was our first night out of town from our six-month-old baby and they left a precious stuffed animal in our room for her with a kind card. I was so touched by the thoughtfulness. The bed was luxurious as was the bathroom. The room was a bit smaller but plenty of room for a night and the view was so restful and pleasing. We had one snafu in that the restaurant recommended by the concierge, Benoit, was a dud. It must have gone downhill since the Ritz recommended -- we were served $21 champagne cocktails in a plastic glasses (and the cocktail wasn't mixed, in ice, very strange), with sub-par, cold, and flavorless food. However, when we shared our experience on our return, the concierge bought us drinks and desserts in the Ritz bar, and the drinks (and awesome bartender!) more than made up for the experience. Also Benoit sent pastries in apology (a little strange to get burnt croissants at 10 pm but again with the great service!). We were made to feel like valued guests by all of the staff there. Combined with the room and view, it was amazing. Highly recommend. Read less

I would give this property 10 stars on a 5 star scale! We took my mom to NYC to celebrate her 96th birthday. The property was gorgeous; so much quieter than being in Times Square.
