Where is it

On Lexington Avenue, this hotel is surrounded by typical brownstone buildings with cafés, bagel shops, cocktail bars, and gastro pubs nearby. It is a few blocks from Grand Central Station and the Chrysler Building, and just a stroll from sights like the Empire State Building, Bryant Park and Fifth Avenue. Transfer time from John F. Kennedy International Airport: 40 minutes.

325 contemporary rooms and suites. All with flatscreen HDTV with cable and pay-per-view movies, iHome docking station, WiFi access*, fridge, coffee maker, safe, hairdryer, iron and board, and pillow menu. Standard Guest Rooms are 325-350 sq ft with 1 king-size bed or 1 queen-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

Studio Apartments are 410 sq ft and have a granite kitchenette with either 1 queen-size bed, 1 king-size bed or 2 double beds, sleeping maximum 4 adults or 2 adults and 2 children. 

One Bedroom Deluxe Apartments are 450-650 sq ft and have a kitchenette, living room, separate bedroom, 2 flat-screen TVs, with 1 king-size bed and sofa bed, sleeping maximum 4 adults. 

Please note: Glassware and coffee mugs are provided. Dishes, utensils, pots and pans are all are available upon request.

We’ve just returned to the UK after staying at this hotel. There are some slightly mixed reviews on this site which made us slightly apprehensive. Our concerns were totally unfounded. We’ve just returned to the UK after staying at this hotel. There are some slightly mixed reviews on this site which made us slightly apprehensive. Our concerns were totally unfounded. On arrival we were met with smiles and support from door staff. Manny (I hope that’s the correct spelling) was amazing on check in. All the staff we encountered were helpful, friendly and supportive. Our room was spacious and clean (a huge amount bigger than others we have stayed in, in NYC). The shower was particularly great ! Yes the hotel is working on renovations (roof bar, restaurant) but there’s so many places to eat and drink locally that it’s not a huge problem. Please, please ignore posts that state “housekeeping didn’t wash my coffee cup”! The Shelburne offered us brilliant value for money and has given us some amazing memories of NYC. Great hotel in a great area. Staff all fantastic and even upgraded my daughter for her 21st birthday to a suite. All staff couldn't be friendlier. Hotel public areas clean and the bedrooms were spotless and big for NYC. We had a lovely view of the Empire State Building.

The hotel was so disappointing. Sadly the cleaning of the rooms was poor surfaces, wash basin and bath were not cleaned down during our stay. Glasses and cup were not cleaned nor changed. Reported smoking in our corridor which raised concerns regarding smoke and fire alarms. 99% of staff gave the impression they just did not want to be… Read more

One of the worst hotel in NYC! I don’t recommend anyone staying here. The hotel is very unsafe. no housekeeping service after 12 am to make up sofa bed. no Engineering to help out with TV issues. The Shelburne is my go-to. Have stayed many times since 2020. Always my first choice. Lovely safe residential neighborhood, welcoming front desk employees, comfortable seating area in the lobby. Manny is wonderful! The Shelburne offers many different types of rooms at different price points. This visit we were fortunate to be in a 2 bed/2 bath with lovely living area, dining table and standard kitchenette. 2 couples or a family could easily stay in this suite. Both bedrooms are private and quiet. Comfortable beds. Living area is large and comfortable. Watched college football Saturday night right at home. Stopped for after dinner drinks and enjoyed them right “at home”. I will always choose Shelburne. Can’t wait for the in-house bar and/or restaurant reopens. That’s the only thing missing. Read less
