The hotel

You may be in the heart of NYC but you’ll enjoy peace and quiet in a W hotel room. Head to The Living Room, complete with DJs and an extensive drinks list! The hotel’s Blue Fin Restaurant is also highly recommended, and comes complete with a sushi bar. If that's not enough, there's Dos Caminos serving Mexican fare, and a margarita bar! Directly facing the bright lights of Broadway, a dramatic, floating, stainless steel staircase leads the way to a semi-private alcove dining area where guests can kick-back and listen to the music of Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Dizzy Gillespie. A wonderful place to stay for couples, friends and family, you’ll also enjoy the W’s famous Whatever/Whenever service – nothing is too much trouble for the staff, all you have to do is ask!

Image of the Tripadvisor rating Worst hotel stay in years - tired, tatty, dirty, smelly

Tired, tatty, dirty. This is pushing a 4 star and honestly the worst hotel I’ve stayed in in years. No coffee machine, charge $20 a day for wifi. The sound proofing claimed on site is nonexistent. You would be best placed avoiding at all costs.

I have to rave about this hotel. The location is unbeatable in the middle of Times Square, and the rate was reasonable for this spectacular location. The room was larger than any other room we've ever had in New York and wonderfully clean. The staff were nice. I would absolutely stay here again.

The hotel is at a great location and has great views! The highlight for us was breakfast buffet at Foundry and their amazing staff. I specially want to recognize Felicia the hostess and Gladys who was our server most days. Loved how they made all felt welcomed, remember guests and Felicia even made sure we seat at our preferred table (we were traveling with 10 year old son that wanted to watch Disney channel ;)). Food was delicious and a great convenience if you are traveling with kids before you hit the tourist attractions. It’s $35 for full buffet but they give it for free for two people if you are a premier member. Will definitely recommend the hotel. There were some hickups though: room service comes early and if you don’t call the front desk if you are leaving after breakfast, housekeeping most likely won’t service your room. Also Bonvoy app messages are not always read by staff. After we complained they were on it. Another important item: if you need a refrigerator you need to ask and pay for one ($20), so just be mindful of that. Other than that a great location and Foundry staff. Read less

DO NOT STAY HERE WORST HOTEL STAY EVER My visit with this hotel has not been good as I checked in today and was charged twice. I am from out of town and that was my gas and everything. I was put in a dirty room with blonde hair in bathroom and on sheets. The lady at the front desk Erin has poor communication skills and your manager Eric needs training as his customer service skills suck. His solution to everything was are you going to pay again or no.I will advice everyone I can reach to never book here as this is my first time and last. I was told several things on the phone that were lies as well in reference to the rooms. I expected more from this hotel. But I will be posting reviews anywhere I can about my experience with pictures. I was told valet was $85 and u could go in and out whenever u needed only to arrive and be told $100 after they took my key. I can not go in and out. I am so over this visit and if I had the extra funds I would have all of my friends check out this hotel as they saw what happened too. This is issue has been covered up and it wasn't until I stated I'm posting reviews that people wanted to apologize but not refund my money. As I told by the front desk I heard as others were told about the hotel upon check in which irritated me as I was told nothing about this restaurant at check in. This hotel is all about money and not good customer service at all. I will never ever stay here again. Everything u attempt to do is a charge down to the internet. After I complained several times of my room then I was told we can switch it if u want but it's not necessary. I'm african american and don't have blonde hair so thats nasty because that means the sheets were not changed and the floor was not vacuumed. For a 4 star hotel I would expect alot better. When you ask for the manager you are being told to wait 15 mins and they never come talk to you. I was told Eddie will get back to me whenever he is done with his day by Mariah at the front desk which is unacceptable. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating W in name old motel really

This hotel is in the heart Times Square. So tourist will like that. The staff were very nice and thats where it ends. The hotel is old and dated. The rooms remind me of if you stayed at an old budget hotel at the airport. When you think of W Hotels you think a bit hip and nice. This hotel is none of that.
