The rooms are large and many of them face 42nd street, which brings light, but also traffic noise. The rooms have some new amenities (eg shower-heads are new) but combined with aging infrastructure (eg bathroom is literally falling apart). Room was not ready upon check-in at 3pm, so they had to put me in another room. No apology - just stated matter-of-fact. They of course don't mention the "destination fee" until after your credit card is swiped -- Never understood this practice -- as it's not a choice, just embed it in the base price -- otherwise customer feels nickeled-and-dimed. Elevators are not secure, meaning you don't need a key card to get upstairs, which is odd for this location which has high traffic. The destination fee gets you a breakfast, but if you are traveling alone, even if half of the restaurant is empty, they seat you in an area away which has limited table service, no cutlery, etc. The host unfortunately delivers the bad news of the high cost of the breakfast buffet without the destination fee. Coffee choices are limited with this option as well. Strangely the restaurant was playing contemporary Christian religious music! Was really shocked about that, especially given the international clientele. The toiletries are low-end, the in-room safe very old. The TV was dated and on the wall in a crooked way, but at least flat screen and had embedded Netflix & Hulu along with limited live channels. Staff is friendly enough, but seems tired given the volumes of guests, and seems to dislike delivering the bad messages, like destination fees, room-not-ready, limited choices, etc. Note that the gift shop does not allow charges to the room. No water is given on check-in, even for status members, and in-room water charge is high. You can't reach the 2nd floor where the gym is without changing to a different elevator in the lobby. Image of the Tripadvisor rating I love Westin hotels but this one is a disappointment

I really love Westin hotels: the ambiance, decor, staff, toiletries... I love it, I tell you. this one is a disappointment in so many ways: the valet does not help you with luggage (unless, I presume, you ask) the decor is tired and goes from crooked-hanging signs to broken emergency phones in the elevators there was no "do not disturb sign" in… Read more
I really love Westin hotels: the ambiance, decor, staff, toiletries... I love it, I tell you. this one is a disappointment in so many ways: the valet does not help you with luggage (unless, I presume, you ask) the decor is tired and goes from crooked-hanging signs to broken emergency phones in the elevators there was no "do not disturb sign" in my room - and the maid came barging in the door at 8 am despite me having requested a late checkout despite my status card, and the promise on the website, there was no bath robe in my room, and when I requested one from concierge, it came with no slippers and (despite my request) no bath products the concierge, incidentally, are uninterested in customers - I mean, really, to the point of rudeness. I discussed all these items with the guest relations manager onsite, who was concerned and apologetic - I then left my suitcases in storage for the day (I was on a busioness trip) - when I returned after 6 hours I asked the concierge to call the valet for me: she was NOT busy, but she told me to go and look for the valet myself; this is why I decided to write this negative review. I am not impressed. Read less

We have stayed at the Westin many times and always enjoy it. Very clean and quiet rooms. Su0er come-rats people and excellent service. You don’t feel like you are in a big hotel, the staff is helpful and polite. We look forward to coming again.

Very good hotel for the amount of time we were there. The rooms are staring to look a bit tired, but are comfortable and clean. Very helpful and friendly staff and the breakfast is good to get you going. Good location as it is in a quite enough area, but a short walk to the busiest and most popular areas to visit.
