The room was excellent (11th floor), comfortable beds, great shower and the perfect size for a 4 night stay. Very quiet considering the great location. We visited the bar and the service was cheerful and efficient. On a daily basis we left the hotel and were wished a good day by the bell boys. Tom and his team do a fantastic job :) And the same on our return. The reception team were also superb and assisted with all our questions. There is also a small shop with all you might need. Thank you Team Westin, you made our special trip to New York so enjoyable. A great Marriott property - congratulations, a well run hotel with a great team! Read less

Would highly recommend staying at this hotel. We were greeted with a warm welcome from the friendly staff around the lobby and reception. Hotel rooms are spacious and the beds are comfy. If you’re wanting a good night sleep I’d ask to be in a higher floor away from the traffic as the only piece you’d get is around 3-7am… the rest is police sirens… Read more

If you’re wanting a good night sleep I’d ask to be in a higher floor away from the traffic as the only piece you’d get is around 3-7am… the rest is police sirens and car horns hooting. Only reason for knocking 1 star off is that the TV didn’t work (the remote wouldn’t change it off the Marriott advertisement page) and there was no milk or sugar sachets with the coffee. I tried ringing reception and it went through to the automated voicemail. Not what you need when a toddler has woken you up at 6.30. All in all a good stay barring these small issues. Read less

I just completed a 4 night stay at this hotel for a work trip. Prior to the pandemic, I used to stay at this property all the time for work so I was happy to come back. It used to be a true 4 star experience and very business friendly. Sadly, like many Marriott properties I’ve stayed at over the last few months, it is no longer a good hotel for anyone expecting decent service and business friendly amenities. Just as I experienced a few weeks ago at the Marriott Marquis in Atlanta, several elevators and escalators were out of service during my stay for maintenance at this hotel….. causing delays and inconvenience for guests. More seriously, like the other Marriott properties I recently stayed at, the food options were now a disaster. Where as before the pandemic this hotel offered proper 24/7 room service…. Now there is no lunch served on the property at all - no grab and go, no room service, no restaurant option, nothing. And “room service” is now this absurd cardboard box delivery of limited options during very limited hours for breakfast and dinner. You can’t even order breakfast the night before for delivery first thing in the morning at a set time. And the breakfast delivery starts too late for business travelers with early meetings (this hotel used to let you have breakfast delivered to your room at 6 am). And dinner, despite this being NYC, stops at 10:30 pm with no late not snack options at all. Just nothing after 10:30. I had to Uber Eats when I got in late from meetings one night. This is not a 4 star hotel. And Marriott needs to fix its brands. My colleagues and I used to consider Westins and the Marquis properties acceptable, reasonable options for meetings and business travel when hotels like the Ritz, St Regis, Mandarin, Conrad, or Four Seasons were not appropriate. Well, no more. I’m done. And based on comments from colleagues and clients, I think we all are. @Marriott - If you want to lose higher end business travelers and higher end leisure travelers… well done. But if not, wake up! It is not 2020 COVID anymore. This non-sense doesn’t fly in 2023. Either restore proper room service and other amenities to your mid-tier properties or those of us with options will walk. I, for one, have given Westin and Marquis 3 tries this year and will not be back to any of these properties. And for those interested in this Westin @ Times Square…. Here’s the deal…. The building is still nice and well located. If that’s al you want, it will due. I also commend the staff, they were still great. Everyone staff member I interacted with was still wonderful and offering 4-5 star service. But the infrastructure is no longer there. Decisions were clearly made to cut back and things have not been restored... so be warned. If you want the ‘old’ pre-COVID service level, you have to go with another option like the Ritz, St Regis, Mandarin, or 4 Seasons. Read less

I booked 4 nights in Westin. I called to change reservation as an ambassador elite. I got hung up on 4 times by operator. She told me manager was too busy to deal with me. Manager "Whitney" as she said to me... "just like the star"... was her name. She was rude, unprofessional and just downright nasty as a manager to deal with. They give Guests… Read more

I DON'T GET IT. Some strange negative reviews at Trip Advisor. After being in the hotel 3 nights I realized these negative reviews were probably about people trying to get perks, or a free room maybe--a well-known ploy. Here's my honest assessment: Stayed 3 nights during Thanksgiving with 3 people. Hotel packed of course. Had an issue or two I needed to handle upon arriving and Ernesto at the front desk cheerfully and skillfully handled it. (Nice to tip people for going the extra mile). He was joined by another night manager(?) She also was professional and amazing in assessing my needs. No problems checking in. Just kindness. I think it helps if you give people slack at their jobs. Working at a hotel is grueling. The rooms were beautiful and spotless, fresh, and comfortable. I'm a designer, loved what they did, the textures, the touches, the carpet, etc. Rooms were VERY quiet, could not hear adjoining rooms, or anything from the street. Had a suite with a "heavenly bed" king and an adjoining sofa/bed. LOVED the bed, bedding is perfect. A TV on the bedroom side and also in the suite--nice touch. Everything is lovely, functional, sensible, well planned. Heating/AC perfect. They have air an freshener system but you can turn off the system like we did. There were NO negatives, the hotel does their work well (love the maids, so sweet). Because of demand for Times Square, the theatres, etc., peak periods such as Thanksgiving, New Year's are stressful on midtown and all adjoining services. This Westin was packed and people kept coming and coming, but service still ran seamlessly. We had a hard time catching an elevator because PEOPLE DID NOT WANT TO MOVE BACK TO ALLOWS OTHERS IN THE ELEVATOR. Unbelievable. A sweet maid on our floor told us how to outfox these people, something I remember reading in a review. We were on 29, the maid told us on 23 there was another bank of elevators that ended at 23 and we could take it. So we walked down to 23 easily and caught the elevator for 1-23. Thereafter we always avoided the crowds going up for 24 to 45 and took the elevator 1-23. Then on 23, we walked to the other bank of elevators on that floor, and easily caught a ride up to 29! The PEOPLE who ride the elevators can be the problem. My daughter overheard some guy boasting how he wouldn't allow an elderly couple on, he didn't want to move back. One night I finally said to the group, "In New York people move BACK to allow others on." Whenever the doors opened when I was in a car I made everyone move back and be happy about it. A little etiquette. There is no fridge or microwave, probably safer not to have them. You can order them. I ordered mine for medical reasons, and even though it was a busy hotel, they were delivered by YET ANOTHER very amazing employee. Hats off to the hotel manager! Nothing to fear here. Everything runs as smooth as butter. Experience it yourself. Read less
