Just returned to NYC for business after 2 years of COVID lockdown. My normal hotels in NYC had all closed so decided to try the Westin in Times Square. My office is in midtown so it was convenient. Also a great place if you are visiting since it is right in the middle of everything (if you want to be near Times Square). The hotel was clean and well maintained. The staff was nice and efficient. I ate in the bar a couple of times and the food was just ok. Prices are high but what you would expect for a hotel bar. One surprising thing was that they charge an extra $30 per day as a "resident fee" Sort of like a resort fee I guess. You can get get it as a credit if you eat in the bar restaurant but you pay it either way. I'm not sure if all NYC hotels are doing this now since this was my first trip after COVID. A little annoying and since I don't eat breakfast it cause me to end every evening with a drink at the bar so I didn't pay the $30 for nothing. Not such a bad thing I guess. Read less

Just back home in Ireland after a 6 night stay in this hotel. Our room was great , very spacious and pleasant . . Lobby is busy buzzy , nice . Location is Times Square , right in the middle of everything - for me I didn’t like this area but you live and learn . Bar is nice enough , nice views , good enough atmosphere , understaffed at busy times with tables left uncleared etc . Breakfast awful . In a basement , dried out food buffet style . Worst of all was service at reception . Never ever in Ireland would I be spoken to in the manner I was spoken to by reception staff in the Westin . It was awful .On arrival , the lady receptionist didn’t even look at us or address us , just snapped at us to provide ID . She then proceeded to take 3 payments out of our account totalling $500 even though our stay was fully prepaid . I understand a hotel putting a hold on a card to cover themselves for costs , but I don’t understand what this hotel did . She then told us our room wasn’t ready , we would receive a call when it was ready but we never did . I asked at reception the next morning about the 3 payments going out of the account and a different receptionist said it was a mistake and it would be refunded . 6 days later , checking out , surprise surprise no refund . Our bill for extras came to $347 so we are still down $153 . No sign of a refund from the hotel and I’m home a full week now . The receptionist on checkout was as mean as the one we had checking in . Give me Ireland and the rain any day of the week . Be wary handing over your card on check in . I wouldn’t stay again . Read less

No internet the entire time we were there. The front desk actually tried to say it was out MacBooks and phones lol. You can’t purchase coffee anywhere in the hotel during the day. It’s a conference hotel so this makes zero sense to me. The rooms were average at best.
