Got to know one of the housekeeping staff and she was delightful and friendly! -Although other reviews say rooms need an upgrade/updating, we found ours to be quite updated, nothing looked old/worn. Ours was a King Suite. -Large rooms compared to other NYC hotels. -Soundproof rooms. -Comfortable beds. -No bugs that we noticed. -Windows that actually open! -A/C and heating worked flawlessly. -Location is fantastic. Market across the street so helpful. -Mini kitchen saved us $$ as we were able to make our own breakfasts. In summary, a stay that exceeded our expectations. I don't have a bad thing to say about the Beacon! Read less

This is the only place I'll book when I go to NYC. Great neighborhood, good rooms, nice little kitchenette for making a cup of tea. Fantastic locations on the Upper West Side, with a cafe right next door for breakfast. Rooms are about as quiet as you can get in NYC.

Initially on our arrival we had only been allocated one room but after a short wait this was rectified and our other room was allocated. We had a fabulous time in New York and the hotel was a big part of that. Fantastic location. Loads of bars and restaurants nearly and the subway literally a two minute walk away. No resort fees either! The rooms are very nice with your own little kitchenette with a fridge. The shower is nice and hot with good pressure. The beds are lovely and comfortable. Maid service every day. What’s not to like? We’d definitely stay here again should we return. Read less

We booked directly with the hotel after signing up to be a Beacon insider. We noticed that other travel sites offered prices $300-400 less than what we paid in total. We booked directly with the hotel after signing up to be a Beacon insider. We noticed that other travel sites offered prices $300-400 less than what we paid in total. We expected some other kind of special treatment for booking directly with the hotel (maybe a gift bag or free upgrade). Without this, we would book with Priceline or other site in the future. That was our only disappointment in terms of the value for money paid. Otherwise, the rooms are generously sized and perfect if you want a separate sleeping space for your kid(kids) without having to book a second room. The location is also great. The 72nd St subway station is a block away, plenty of restaurants, bars, bakeries and coffee shops. There is a good grocery store across the street. Hotel staff were very friendly. No amenities to speak of, such as a gym, but who needs that with all the walking in NYC! Read less

The worst experience ever. Had two different, bug infested rooms, then had to leave the hotel because it was filthy. In addition, the latch locks on each of the room doors were anything but secure, and the deadbolts did not work. And both room were filthy. Still no response from the property re a refund.
