Paradise Point Resort & Spa

San Diego, California

Virgin rating

The hotel

Overlooking spectacular Mission Bay in San Diego, you can really take advantage of the bayside setting here — chill out by the water or by one of the pools, go out in a sailboat or speedboat, or take surf lessons. Paradise Point is set on its own 44-acre island, with lush gardens and a mile-long white sand beach. One of the best things about it is that whilst its secluded spot makes you feel like you are a million miles away from it all, you're actually just minutes from downtown San Diego.

Meh. I was told by a friend to stay here and I am less than impressed. Although the current owner has attempted to update the older buildings, the services do not seem to line up with the cost. We were told at check-in that they do not service the rooms unless we requested it. We woke up this morning (prior to 6am) to the sound of a front end… Read more

We were told at check-in that they do not service the rooms unless we requested it. We woke up this morning (prior to 6am) to the sound of a front end loader moving sand on the beach. Really?? This couldn’t wait until 7 or 8am? Also, be careful where you park your car. Lots of birds nesting in the trees over the assigned parking spots. Read less

Avoid this place at all costs. The cleanliness is terrible, and definetly doesn’t meet the standards of this kind of resort. The room had a very foul odor, like mold, and we later discovered that the air conditioner was filthy. We found spider webs all around the room, most notably above the bed. The towels and pillow cases had stains all over, some red and some dark. Overall, the room was in incredibly poor condition, with dirty bits everywhere. The walls were peeling off too. On top of this, the resort charges fees for almost everything. Ordering room service incurs a 6 dollar delivery fee, plus 21% service fee, and then on top of that, another 6% charge. Most of the food we had here was pre-made or frozen. The octopus at the barefoot grill was not fresh at all, and tasted foul, and gave us an upset stomach. Read less

Was here for a business conference. Not overly excited about this place. Needs maintenance on the grounds. There was an old squished beer can that sat outside our room the entire length of our 6 night stay. One morning we had no hot water and while it was fixed the hot water was still iffy the remainder of the trip. I would not return for a… Read more

Great resort with so much to do for the family. Pay the extra for the bungalow on the bay. Great time at the bond fire. The food at the restaurants is good with beautiful views. A little updating is needed in the rooms. I would like to see a better spa because they weren’t relaxing at all. Check in customer service could have been better but I… Read more
