The Edgewater

Seattle, USA

Virgin rating

The hotel

Sitting right on top of Pier 67, this is Seattle's original waterfront hotel and quite the local landmark. It’s always been a quirky and cool spot, since it was built in 1962 — KISS parked their platform boots here and The Beatles once famously fished out of their hotel room window. We don’t recommend that, of course, but you can imagine the playful and chilled vibe that you get at the the Edgewater. Expect quirky, cosy rooms with beautiful views of Elliott Bay, happy hours showcasing amazing house concoctions, and a restaurant serving the freshest organic and local dishes. Take in a bit of live music at the weekend and dine outdoors to make the most of those water views.

Our room was Overlooking water and was amazing. Mattress was soft but pillows were crap. Noise from fog horns and trains. Parking was only valet and is $50 a night. Ordered room service which was nice but $50 for a hamburger and fries seemed pretty excessive for the size of the burger. Over all we thought the hotel was ok. But most likely won’t… Read more

Best hotel with outstanding staff and unmatched views. I genuinely enjoyed my stay and with the legacy of rock music, it felt much more like elevated. Very nice cozy vibes all over the hotel. Morning dew with that water smell if window is open, yes water view has balconies that you can open.

The location was walking distance to everything we wanted to see. Space Needle, MoPop, Pikes Place, etc. If you're looking to stay here, upgrade to one of the specialty suites, so worth it!! The food at Six Seven was amazing

This was our first time back since our rainy fall honeymoon in 2001. I remember cozy robes, tea in our room and warm, attentive staff. We were so excited for a redux of our cozy 2001 Seattle experience. That didn’t happen. There were so many little things that felt off. For example, there were multiple holes in our sheets. Discovered that on the last night when I grabbed my pillow and my fingers went right through the cotton. Hubby pointed out more holes & threadbare patches on the top sheet, too. When I mentioned this to the front desk upon checking out, the guy said, “Yes, it’s a known issue with our linen supplier’s washing machine.” I just stared at him. I remember the awesome fluffy Edgewater robes in our room in 2001. No robe this time. :( One crappy Keurig coffeemaker in the room & no way to make water for tea. I’ve had better equipped rooms in the Homewood Suites. Seventeen bucks for a takeaway “wedge salad” comprising 1/4 head of lettuce, a single piece of cold bacon and a couple pieces of tomato. The valet and cleaning staff were great!! Kind, cheerful, and so helpful. A high point. For the money we paid, even on a special with parking, this was a disappointment. I’m a Hilton Diamond member and would have been happier in a chain - at least my hand wouldn’t have gone through a threadbare pillowcase. This isn’t a five star hotel - it’s grindingly average, aging, maybe ok for an overnight but not a place I’d stay for a week exploring the city. Never again. Read less
