I had an awesome time at the lobby bar while finishing up some 6pm+ work projects. Robyn and Brooke were seriously amazing—super attentive, great vibes, and nailed every dirty martini they made. They turned a regular work trip night into something fantastic, and I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in town!

The hotel room is excellent. It was my birthday…and the staff sent us a bottle of champagne and chocolates. Bar in lobby was amazing. Robyn - bartender- excellent service! Attentive, friendly, great attitude! We sat in bar 2 nights in a row and enjoyed the ambiance and Robyn’s conversation immensely!

I visit Austin several times a year. For a downtown experience, the JW is as close to perfect as it gets. The staff is nothing short of amazing, going out of their way to deliver a fantastic guest experience. Even though the hotel was full to capacity with a convention during my stay, the hotel felt spacious and welcoming. (The one exception was the well-equipped gym. It was so crowded that it was nearly unusable. Not the hotel's fault!) The rooms are well-appointed and maintained spotlessly. The pool rooftop area is luxurious and feels like a resort. The lounge for platinum members and higher is a beautiful space with plenty of room to relax or work. The snack and food selection in the lounge is good-- the offerings are about the same as what you'll find in most Marriott lounges in the US. My one criticism is that the lounge has fewer breakfast entrees than the lounges at other Austin Marriotts. Also, unlike the Austin Marriott South or the Austin Marriott, they don't put out desserts at night in the lounge. These are minor gripes that only a few frequent travelers like me probably notice. Maybe it was just a fluke during my stay. It certainly wouldn't stop me from returning. Parking is pricey, but no worse than what you'll pay at any of the downtown hotels. The valets are fantastic, going above and beyond to take care of parking your car and giving you directions. Bottom line: If you are looking to stay in downtown Austin, the JW is a premium property that offers outstanding amenities and service. It's definitely a large convention/conference venue. If you're looking for a more intimate boutique hotel experience, this is not your place. But if you want comfort, convenience, and a bit of luxury downtown, the JW is an excellent choice. Read less
