Absolutely the most disappointing JW we've ever stayed at. It was the second week in November - apparently this is Christmas opening weekend for families. Absolutely the most disappointing JW we've ever stayed at. It was the second week in November - apparently this is Christmas opening weekend for families. The hotel was full of kids, tacky lights and decorations, and loud loud loud Feliz Navidad on nonstop. At check in, we had a few issues with the front desk - our friend, a member of the quarter century club and titanium, had the young lady argue with him over several simple perks. We were not given an option on the water park and had to pay the $58/day fee for wristbands we had no intention of using (it was 45 degrees outside and stormy all weekend, plus we're old). With nothing to do on the grounds due to poor weather and location, we opted for the spa pass (another $40) but after changing, found that the outdoor coed areas had heater problems and the hot tub was only lukewarm. The lobby and bar area is a cavernous two story marble covered foyer, and the live music echoes all around and reverberates, making any conversations or gatherings impossible to enjoy. I know I sound like a grouch, but the hotel was one of the worst thought out as far as usable spaces for any group sized less than 100 - it's like a convention hall, and the food and drink match in quality. Rooms were standard marriott rooms, not as nice as other JW's we've enjoyed in Singapore and Dubai, yet price was almost double those rooms. Would have much preferred Hotel Emma or similar - there are much better choices in the San Antonio area. Read less

We came for the holiday lighting event. It was scheduled to be at 6:30p but as we were walking over from the waterpark activities at 6:23pm we heard the countdown start and missed the excitement. Another let down was that the speakers were placed directly along the walkway instead of up on the rocks in the landscape as in years past. The music and base was so loud it hurt your ears. We enjoyed our drinks and dinner at 18 Oaks. Melissa and Adrian were fantastic! Breakfast buffet at Cibolo Moon was great as always. Jennifer was very friendly and attentive. We tried calling down to get our car from valet but were hung up on twice after dialing the operator and finally was able to get thru to valet but it went to voice-mail. I ended up texting the ticket number. Overall it was an OK experience. Read less

Just a fabulous property with attentive staff...don't miss the breakfast buffet! Try the carnitas (to die for) and/or a smoked brisket omelet topped with some fresh quac. A nice slice of toast with tequila pineapple jam goes down easily along with that waffle topped with bourbon-flavored maple syrup. Great to see a property's breakfast buffet… Read more

I have Ambassador Status with Bonvoy and stay approximately 180 nights a year in Marriott properties. The stay at the JW in San Antonio was by far my worst Marriott experience of the last few years. - The room was dated and needed a facelift. - The room was dirty. There were crumbs on the floor and hair in the bathroom in the sink and on the floor, and dirty watermarks on the mirror and shower. - The arrival service was terrible with no valet to assist with the car or luggage. - The wait for the cart and bag support at the TPC was over 20 minutes - we almost missed the Tee time. - The bar surface was sticky and unclean. - The breakfast was "included" but there was an uncharge on the bill when I left (I took a slice of bacon). - On check out, I struggled through the door with four pieces of luggage while three staff looked on and did not offer to open the door or assist despite me asking for help. - The golf clubs were "lost" on departure and it took 30 minutes to locate them. - The front desk manager offered to return the loyalty points for the booking I made, but three weeks later there is no credit. If this is how the JW treats it's most loyal customers, I wouldn't think they can handle anyone at all in a professional way. My advice? Stay somewhere else. This hotel has lost it's way. Read less
