We stayed here one weekend over four years ago and said then that the restaurants were the best part of the stay. This time, this visit, we only spent one night, day before Easter, it was really expensive and really crowded. Will say it again, it’s horrible to have to pay resort fees when you absolutely do not use them. There must be a better way. Yes the place is very clean inside and out and staff is nice and friendly. Front desk agents Andy and, oops, can’t remember her name helped with Wi-Fi, didn’t see it written if it was “free” and a cousin that was with us needed to do some work and asked about Wi-Fi. They asked if we were Bonvoy members, yes we are so wi fi was “free”. Talk about a small world, Andy had lived in the area where we are from! He sent a sweet card with mini Easter chocolates to our room. A nice gesture, give the young man a raise, after all he will own an Apple Store one day (inside joke between us!) Saturday evening there was NO WHERE to sit in the large lobby. All those nice leather couches, taken. Kids running around everywhere. I finally went up to the bar, Crooked - , and asked if we could sit at a table, even though there were “reserved” signs on all three unoccupied tables. Was told yes, of course. The three of us had one expensive, over ten dollars each, drink each. Server was sweet, even recognized us as we passed by the bar area the next day. Gift shop is expensive, five dollars for a diet Dr Pepper, but they do have a lot of gift items to choose from and couldn’t believe they still had the lavender lambs, as I bought one last trip, years ago. We had reservations for the Easter buffet, which I called about a few weeks before the trip as we didn’t see the menu listed on website/Facebook. Gigi sent us the menu, another sweet young lady. We arrived 30 minutes early (we were given a late checkout when asked when checking in, very nice young lady) only to be told that we had to wait til exact time, said they were regrouping, etc. Ok. Then same gal started telling people to line up and did come to where we were sitting to tell us same thing. BUT, she wanted the line against the wall where double doors were and people were going in/out. We were the second family in line, which was right where the doors were but we did NOT block the doors, and 10 minutes into standing, a family of four comes and stands in front of us, cuts in line and blocks the doors. If it wasn’t Easter, I would have said something to them! We had a lovely waitress named Karen. Not overly pleased with buffet and yes very expensive. I like salty foods but, oh my goodness, everything was really salty especially the gravy for biscuits. My husband only enjoyed the grouper, my cousin just picked at a few things but liked the boiled shrimp the best. I was looking forward to the charcuterie, but disappointed. Only a couple of meats and a couple of strong cheeses, all repeated all the way around the display table. Im not a dessert person but I really enjoyed the good selection, especially the peanut brittle! Read less

Our family spent five nights recently at the JW Marriott San Antonio and overall had a very good experience. We are well traveled and extremely observant/critical when it comes to our resort stays. For us, this property checks all of our boxes and we will be returning, quite possibly on an annual basis! Observations: - We stayed during Easter weekend and their Concierge was literally MIA - never saw her/him our entire stay. With 1,000+ rooms and it being a holiday weekend, we found this to be puzzling that an employee was literally never at their post -- for five days! A property of this caliber should physically have someone available to assist with special requests, reservations and inquiries - above and beyond a front desk person. - Pool Cabanas.....egregious pricing!!!! They are asking $600+ to have a pool cabana from 10am-7pm that is only stocked with waters???? To put this into perspective: we stayed at the JW Marriott in Cabo and enjoyed a cabana for an entire day - it only cost $250 and this was applied to all food and alcoholic beverages we had that whole day!!! Apparently JW Marriott San Antonio charges $900+ for its cabanas in the summer, what the heck??? This seems unreasonable and ridiculous. *Please note - the gift shop at the JW Marriott San Antonio is HUGE, the biggest and best resort gift shop of anywhere we've stayed at all over the world (33 countries). Anything you need, you will find here: clothing, souvenirs, toys, food, drinks, snacks, etc. If by chance you can't find it in the shop, there's a great Target store that is two miles down the road. The hotel was OK, but unfortunately the Cibolo Moon Restaurant was not prepared for the weekend / Easter event. We arrived at 10:45 for a regular breakfast and the Restaurant was not accepting customers and redirecting to another Restaurant which had between 45 min to an hour waiting list. They told us they would open again at 12 / noon, but at noon they told us there was a waiting list and we should wait for at least one more hour. Since 10:45 there were a lot of open tables, and there was no interest from it's Staff to help / accommodate Customers. As a Bonvoy Member I feel sorry for this kind of situation. Read less

We’re just leaving this resort after spending 5 nights as members of a conference here. We are Ambassador level members and we were upgraded to a nice suite upon check in. Check in staff were friendly and efficient. We ate at Cibolo Moon every morning, plus one dinner and one lunch. Food was delicious! The breakfast buffet has everything you could want. We also ate at High Velocity and 18 Oaks. Both were delicious. The shining star of this resort is the staff. We were always thanked for our loyalty and were given exceptional service. Two servers that stood out were Addison and Daniel. Sadly it was too cool to use the beautiful pool area, but it looked like a wonderful place for families to spend the day. Read less
