Situated on the corner of Lafayette Square bordering the White House and close to numerous downtown sites including Smithsonian museums, war memorials and vast green parks. Transfer time from Dulles International Airport: 35 minutes.

Deluxe Luxury Rooms are 400-450 sq ft and have 1 king-size bed or 2 double beds, sleeping maximum 4 adults or 2 adults and 2 children.

Junior Suites are 426-475 sq ft and have a separate living area with additional TV, with 1 king-size bed in the bedroom and pullout sofa bed in the living area, sleeping maximum 3 adults or 2 adults and 1 child.

Room was ok hotel was not on a 5 star level. I would rate it a 8 for a 4 star and a 6 for a 5 star. Room had a musty smell and bed linens seemed dirty. Parking and room service was a sub par value. The concierge was nice and helpful.

Let me show a room we have to offer, the FrontDesk Manager said. My beloved and I were a bit shocked as there were other sweating souls waiting in line but we said sure and another hotel colleague seemed to be waiting for such a moment to dash out. We got into the elevator and was shown a much larger room than booked. We agreed to an upgrade fee and then saw the $1,000 be whisked from the Credit Card.. ouch I thought. THe Location is hard to get to by car as there are so many one way streets; however, on foot, Metro or the new scooters, you can get everywhere. The bartenders serve a good cocktail with heavy pours and chitchat for as long as you like as I experienced the first and second night of our stay. The room was of course spotless and the amenities Lanvin so well worth the stay. The housekeeping staff were very friendly as my beloved had her clothes, make-up, accessories and paraphernalia bursting from her valises and bags the entire time. They covered the entire living room for an open display system yet the HouseKeeping Team organized them each day with a little fun folding. The tips to keep the staff quiet about this behavior were enormous but well worth it indeed. Every elevator ride ends opening into the lobby which seemed like UN meeting cluttered with families from all over the world just waiting for someone else to arrive. First time at a Sofitel. Was in town for business and this hotel was close to everything. Metro is a block away. Monuments a few blocks away. Staff was great. Room was good size, comfortable and well appointed. Bathroom was spotless. No complaints. I cannot think of any negative with this stay. Wow. I would stay here again.

We love coming to Washington the week of Christmas because the government leaves town and the tourist haven't arrived in full force. My wife and I enjoy this annual sojourned and what makes it even better are the comforts of a great hotel. This year the Sofitel DC went above and beyond. The hotel is centrally located for our needs; museums, theater, shopping and dining almost all in walking distance. The lobby is inviting and understated with a sense of sophistication. Our room was modern and classically designed giving us a nice warm feeling when coming back from a long day out on the town. The housekeeping staff always made sure we had exactly what we requested each day. While we were sipping a cup of the hotels complementary hot cider in the lobby we had the pleasure of meeting group sales director, Bruna Castro Nelson, a splendid ambassador for the hotel. She was very forthcoming about amenities the hotel offered and made sure we knew some of the highlights of the surrounding neighborhood. During our stay we needed some assistance with our room, so we spoke with front desk manager, Stephane. He handle things promptly and smoothly. Another example on how attentive the staff is to their guest. When visiting DC for business or pleasure a stay at the Sofitel will make your visit more comfortable and enjoyable. Read less

Dear Sir/Madam I am a current guest residing at your hotel, Sofitel Washington DC. I am writing to compliment your staff: Mr Casey from your technical department. This evening, I found the handle of my luggage broken. Wanting to tape it as a temporary solution, i asked one of your housekeepers for some tape. He sent Mr. Casey with some tape to me. Mr Casey looked at the broken handle and suggested to mend it with clamps as if it was a broken pipe! This innovative solution was a surprise! He could have simply passed me some tape and continued with his chores. Instead, he put in efforts to think of solutions to help a "panicky" me. He is an exemplary staff.
