The Dupont Circle Hotel

Dupont Circle and Embassy Row, Washington DC

The hotel

Washington’s outpost of the luxury Doyle Collection, The Dupont Circle Hotel is every bit as slick and fashionable as a D.C. pad should be. Its address is enviably central: right on Dupont Circle, which leads you into downtown D.C., and then on to the political powerhouses that make this city a sightseeing classic. You can see some sights without even leaving the hotel though, with the bar and restaurant both framing Dupont Circle with huge walls of windows. At Bar Dupont, you can people-watch from your comfy leather chair or the al fresco patio, while tucking into light dishes, sharing plates, and handcrafted cocktails. At Café Dupont, those city views are accompanied by a French-American menu and a brasserie vibe. When you do venture out, your Dupont Circle location also means you have dining, drinking, and nightlife venues all around.

Lovely hotel in a great area with friendly staff. Pablo, manager, especially kind and helpful. Room on smaller side but very comfortable with a very usable workspace. Pleasant lobby area with newspapers, bar, etc.

We love how we are treated... speed and quality of service from every staff member from the moment you arrive... truly impeccable. We won’t stay anywhere else! The staff are on point. The bellman, reception, bartenders, cleaning staff.... and room service... every one went above and beyond... kudos!!!

This is a first class hotel property right on Dupont Circle. From front desk (Derek) to bar to restaurant to bellman (Richard), the staff is incredible. Without fail they killed themselves with courtesy and kindness and help. I wish I had taken down the names of other staff with whom we interacted. Staying at the hotel was a great experience,… Read more

Without fail they killed themselves with courtesy and kindness and help. I wish I had taken down the names of other staff with whom we interacted. Staying at the hotel was a great experience, although the location on the Circle makes it a little noisy. All in all, our stay at the hotel was an exhilarating experience. Read less

Very well appointed room and hotel, where you can relax. The staff were exceptionally nice and accommodating and helped me with the door, luggage, directions and moved very fast and politely at check in and out. Best hotel staff I've experienced in a long while. The beds and linens are very nice and the room was laid out very well for the smaller size you have in big cities like Washington, DC. The lounger/couch for watching television and the desk/chair were placed well. Only stayed one night but wished I could have taken advantage of the Nespresso machine. The robes and slippers and eyeshades are a nice touch as well as the Paul Mitchell products. Read less

The toilet and shower area is separated from the room by a minimally private, partially frosted glass door. The toilet and shower area is separated from the room by a minimally private, partially frosted glass door. That's right, your room-mates, intimate or not, are going to share in any sights and sounds of your bathroom experience unless you have them leave the room. You should know this going in as it is a definite deal-breaker. Apart from the bathroom show, there are a few other reasons we are ambivalent about this property. There are no blackout curtains. Rather there are no curtains whatsoever. Just wooden louvers which let in a disturbing amount of light. The bed is extremely soft; I felt like it was swallowing me. The service at this property is special, and I must admit, that was generally the case except for a few ball drops. We were contacted by "Derek" a personal assistant via email the day prior to our arrival. Derek's message was very sincere and he earnestly offered to attend to our needs with regard to room selection, concierge services, etc. This level of care is a very welcoming surprise and we eagerly anticipated our arrival. Nevertheless, Derek was "off" the day of our arrival and, despite our message of inquiry, we were never contacted by Derek or any staff member as follow-up during the length of our stay (five nights)! There were a few other minor service disappointments. On balance, we cannot recommend this hotel. As noted above, we suspect that the shared bathroom arrangement should prove an absolute deal-breaker. Unless you happen to be traveling solo. Read less
