I checked out early of a nearby competitor hotel due to its sub par service and all things considered, this property far exceeds my expectations. Very friendly and helpful front desk associate was able to grant me an early check in which was appreciated considering the circumstances. Price is good and my room is beautiful and has sufficient storage and windows that actually open! Was also advised that I qualify for free valet parking. My only suggestion would be to include guest laundry on site. There isn’t a single laundromat in the downtown DC area and some people don’t like dry cleaning. Read less

Had one of the worst work-travel experiences I've ever had- and I travel a lot for work. I typically stick to Bonvoy properties as they are consistently reliable. I was a part of a group of 8 Federal Employees who all booked here. Two days prior to arrival, 5 of our group had their reservations cancelled - some via email and some simply on the app with no proactive notification. When contacted, managers absolutely refused to assist with locating other accommodations ("We're telling you in advance so you can find other accommodations"). They explained that they oversold the hotel by 40 rooms (!!). My reservation was not cancelled; likely because I have Bonvoy Gold status which requires that they re-accommodate if a reservation is cancelled - and cover any cost difference. Our group was stunned by the lack of concern and assistance provided by management. When I checked in, the desk clerk commented (after spending 5 minutes looking for a room in their system) that I was "lucky" to have a room. One of my peers, who also was not cancelled, was placed in a room that had a pull-out couch as his "queen" bed. Upon check out, the clerk said to him "Oh you pulled the short straw, we actively avoid using that room". What hotel even has a room that solely has a pull out couch as the only bed??? (oh, apparently The Ven does -8th floor by the way) I booked 6 weeks in advance; using FedRooms. My room was guaranteed - but apparently: I was lucky? Well, "more lucky" than 5 of my co-workers who also booked via FedRooms 6 weeks in advance. After checking into my room, I wished mine had been cancelled as well - so not so lucky. There were water stains and peeling plaster on ceiling (see picture); and what appeared to be mold on the ceiling near HVAC vent; and the mirror in bathroom was very damaged and looked terrible. Fellow Federal Employees, Military Personnel, and anyone else: If you have an option - look elsewhere. DC has many superior options. And to Bonvoy - this place does not live up to your standards..... The Ven at Embassy Row is a great location for a reasonable price near the DC Metro. Easy to take the Metro to DC tourist spots, lots of restaurants close to the hotel that were great. Lots of people out and about make the area feel very safe. Valet parking adds to the expense, but overall, we'd choose this again in a heartbeat as a great… Read more

Room was exceptionally maintained by Nubia. The VEN is a great hotel in the DuPont Circle area. Great on-site restaurant and bar. Friendly staff. I have stayed multiple times and will again. Thanks.
